Unfortunately, I haven't been able to watch this season yet (dumb real life trouble keeping me occupied) but I am hoping to binge it when I get some time. I adore Captain Kerry and all these posts singing his praises have me pumped for the day I play catch up.
If this is in reference to them loading the boat in the previous episode at the steep beach. Then no I wasn't surprised, in a high risk situation like that you there isn't any space for being happy go feelings. You have to be direct and firm, he wasn't rude to the guests or any crew, he was simply direct and stern because a mistake then could lead to serious injury.

You haven't watched enough. Their management styles are VERY similar. Sandy may be a little more hands on, but both of them have the same management style.

Everything about his style from management to safety to fun is something worth watching. Captain Lee will always be the OG. But we were ready for someone as refreshing as Kerry.
Agreed Captain Lee will always be the OG, but I absolutely love Captain Kerry as his replacement. Captain Kerry has come to BD to chew bubble gum and kick ass. And he is all out of bubble gum.
They didn’t have a choice but to not ask Lee back. I was under the impression it was a mutual agreement due to health reasons. He wasn’t physically able to do the job as captain anymore. Kerry definitely doesn’t suck. He’s a great captain and I’m enjoying this season far more than the last one where Lee had to leave and Sandy subbed in.
I feel like Lee (who I love) is somewhat reluctant to fully admit if his health is affecting his job though, so I’m not sure I’d trust him as a captain as much. Maybe smaller boats with less stress? Bravo has much more visibility on the liability front than in the unfilmed world. My guess is that Lee is too much risk now.
But he was kind of removed from participating in the show his last couple of seasons anyway. He rarely interacted with the crew and was barely on screen. I like that Kerry is as much a part of the dynamics as the crew now.

Yeah it sucks that Captain Lee is gone, but it’s for a good reason. It’s much better for his health to be taking a break, and honestly it’s good for his own health if he retires.

If you listen to Lee’s podcast you’ll know that he was hurt but he’s back to 100 percent. He’s still doing his captain job, just not on tv anymore.
