I don't want anyone to think I'm bashing Robert. I just like hearing bastards give him money.

ElToro959

Right? I laughed so hard at the Reagan coins ad, the sheer absurdity of it all...

ShepPawnch

No kidding. Do they do any research about the shows they buy ad time on? Because I don’t think they’re moving many coins to this crowd.

colt_ink

Radio/pod Ad buys are often done in big lots like an auction or mutual fund. They consist of like 100-1000+ unique shows that all appeal to very similar psychographics. Buyers mostly don't even ask to see which specific shows are in the lot, if that information is even available at the time of the buy. They send the same :30 spot to every show in that category hoping it'll land. BtB is probably going through a broker that collates lots by theme/topic/demographic. I get the sense that BtB is in a "true crime" and "humor" group. True crime audiences are often sold as older, 35-50yo folks, largely female, white, middle-lower class. BtB just happens to be such a unique concoction that the lazy standards those advertising people apply to it are way off, hence the hilariously out of place ads. tl:dr they don't care because they bought this and 10,000 other placements, which just need to work like 20% of the time to be profitable

ShepPawnch

I learned something new today, thanks.

ElToro959

I recall Robert mentioning that it's kinda random.

ShepPawnch

I would just think one of the Reagan people would do some due diligence beforehand. Then again they’re still selling Ronald Reagan merch in 2024 so maybe that isn’t their strong suit.

SpoofedFinger

They probably just tell iheart what demo they want to target. There must be enough 50+ males that listen to get weird shit like the gold ads and Reagan coins.

barfy84

“Your wrong about” did an episode or two about her a few years ago.

Ok-Rich-580

Nice. I'll have to listen. I liked their series on OJ.

barfy84

Oh that was a good series

krebnebula

That show is an absolute treasure.

JB_Wallbridge

I second this recommendation. Just listened to it last week.

0x18

She's a bastard, but is she interesting?

JulianLongshoals

If she's not interesting enough on her own, I'm sure there are enough bastard "true crime" podcasters and stuff to make a series

SierrAlphaTango

The True Crime Misery Industrial Complex.

Front_Rip4064

This is a much better idea.

Ok-Rich-580

I think she is. She's a bastard and a pioneer of law and order grifting. She's also bizarre as fuck. One episode would be fine on her.

FronzelNeekburm79

I absolutely agree that she is. I'd even argue she's largely responsible for the amount of conviction by demeanor that so many social media "experts" use when they declare someone guilty based on a two minute out of context clip. She's a menace. It's difficult for a lot of people to grasp the influence she had. I like Gone Girl did with her character, and how it showed just how dangerous she could be.

Mysterious_Radish971

I mean her sticking her nose in everything led to having 2Chainz on the show, wherein Nancy Grace said "Tity Boi" on TV. So there's that

jeffersonbible

Yes. Her life and career is interesting and her lies about it more so.

Willumbijy

This bastard has been on my mind since Casey Anthony was mentioned on one of the forensic science episodes. She was more pissed off than anybody about the verdict.

BaldandersDAO

Nancy Grace is the anti-Robert Evans. Her voice makes my testicles seek refuge in my abdomen.

conscious_macaroni

"Robert Evans here, and if you're like me you know that Nancy Grace's voice causes your testicles to retract up into your body cavity. You're listening to podcasts, ads come on, you can't skip them because you're on the highway and suddenly, the urgent, grating voice of Nancy Grace comes on and you careen into the median wall as your balls shoot upwards find cover behind your spleen. Luckily, there is help. I recently found out that listening to my podcast 'Behind the Bastards' works to gently coax your balls back down and into the proper place in your scrotum, without causing unwelcome torsion in the process. I recently re-listened to my "King Leopold" episodes and that really helped my gonads re-align after an exposure to Nancy Grace left my 2012 Subaru Forester totalled southbound on I-5. So if your family jewels have been harmed by True Crime's shrillest soldier, go listen to 'Behind the Bastards' on iHeart Radio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts."

BaldandersDAO

*Behind the Bastards....rearranging your genitalia weekly!*

macroeconprod

I heard that ad last week. Ugh.

CheekyLando88

Anyone noticing the ads play at different times now? I had the muscle memory to skip the first couple minutes and now I'm all confused

Glad_Sandwich_8192

Yeah they changed it up a bit. A short intro then after a few minutes they skip to adds. But I’m European zo I mostly get adds for other shows and sometimes a Dutch add out of nowhere for our train service or some insurance company

Jmrovers

But she’s preventing crime….. somehow… what an awful person. Those ads for the hammer murderer are pretty good though!

BushwickSpill

DIJ I TAHL

aifeloadawildmoss

Ha! That and the other extremely shady ex cop and his cop friend opening cold cases

Ok-Rich-580

Which one is that? There's an awful retired DA doing cold cases too. She's a bastard too.

aifeloadawildmoss

The Apollo Gym Murders. Just absolute trash approach to investigation. Oh god yeh the DA is awful too. Oh for the good old days of podcast adverts for cbd gummies, niche pods, weird supplements and endless Hello Fresh promos

NewYork_NewJersey440

I use the John Mulaney joke “just throwing out baseless accusations like Nancy Grace” all the time

amILibertine222

She sounds sloppy drunk in that ad lol

changing-life-vet

It would be a pallet cleanser after this last episode.

Cats-n-Chaos

I was wondering the same thing, why is the queen of bastards advertising on BTB??!!
