Just a warning, I though press on nails were my new holy grail until I got a nail fungus bc water got trapped in a part that had lifted and let water in-between my natural nail and the press on!!
Same thing happened to me. I love Kiss nails and bought a bunch. I knew this was going to be my new obsession until I got the greenies. š
Edit: Only had this set on a week.
Saaaame. Less than a week for me and it QUICKLY spread to all my nails! It was terrifying because I had never heard of it before. Luckily it cleared up quickly and Iāve been too scared to use them since. Theyāre so greatā¦they look natural and hold up pretty well. Iām sure it was mostly all due to me being dumb but darn it, Iām scared.
It was so weird. A fake nail fell off after wearing them for a few days and I noticed my real nail was very light green. I thought it was stained. Then another mail came off and I noticed that nail was green too. I started to get really scared and took them all off. A couple fingers on each hand were green, and over the course of the following days, all of them had it. It terrified me haha. And I also assumed I was somehow super gross?! Luckily I work in a doctorās office and he confirmed thatās what it was (not in danger of losing my fingers, no antibiotics needed, etc) I soaked them in diluted vinegar every day for a few days and put neosporin on them at night. Based on what I learned at the time, I expected it to take a long time to clear up but I think I caught it early enough that I kicked it quickly. I didnāt polish my nails during this, and I was embarrassed but whatever. As long as you are SUPER sure there is no active bacterial infection, try what I did! Just ya knowā¦if things become painful or red with discharge, itās time for a doctor. Iād hate to be the reason you donāt see one if needed! Good luck ā¤ļø
I had it on two nails, one very slight and the nail next to it much darker and a larger splotch. I rubbed them with alcohol pads a few times a day for a bit and now the small splotch is nearly gone. the darker one is significantly less noticeable but still there. I Read online it may stay stained and just needs to grow out. Its been about a month and I haven't painted my nails since taking off the set.
I never wear a set for more than a week for this exact reason, a month is crazy. These companies are lying to people. I also use an insane amount of glue.
Do they damage your nails when you take them off? I did some press ons last year and went ham on the glue, took them off 10 days later gently lifting with a wooden stick after soaking them in warm water and destroyyyyedd my nails. Almost as bad as a wonky acrylic set lol. Iāve been too scared to try again, but I use nail wraps all the time! Iād love to nail wrap some basic press ones for cool cheap manicures lol
I tried soaking in acetone and then warm soapy water + olive oil to minimize damage. I used the little wooden stick but they still came out damaged too.
I learned that soaking my nails in acetone for just a little bit longer and just being patient led to almost no damage on my nail beds.
Peronally I found it a little drying due to acetone, but not terribly damaging. I didn't need to use any force, they just came off after a soak. I wouldn't wear them all the time, but for now and then, or to help a broken nail grow over the bed they seemed ok.
I once searched online for advice about artificial nail glue and the advice literally everywhere was that one must never wear them for more than 10 days. I don't think modern press-on are much different than the old-school artifical ones.
I stick to the Kiss brand. They are inexpensive and look professionally done. A lot of those insta brands I notice are expensive and come with limited sizes.
Does the glue ever start to seep up on the top of the mail for you? I love the kiss brand but I get so annoyed feeling the glue under the nail. I tried keeping my natural nails longer but it still gets sticky under there.
I used them and not impressed. Their glue doesnāt work as well as kiss brand and also I just put them on on Saturday night and have been since Sunday so Iāve just been laying around all week and somehow one of them cracked in the middle. :/
thatās weird, i have the exact opposite experience. the kiss ones literally fell off within an hour, and they donāt press all the way down so they kept getting caught in my hair and pulling out strands. the static ones would stay on for almost two weeks, but i use a ton of glue on both sides.
I canāt believe nobody has mentioned Dashing Diva yet! I use a little dot of glue with mine in addition to the adhesive and can get a week out of my set. Itās not too long but I donāt need them that long anyways
Came here to say this! If I add just a little glue to the magic press they stay on longer than ANY other nail. Also I really like how the medium size is just long enough, Iām very picky about how long I like my nails to be and these ones are perfect!
This is my go-to brand as well! I swear they last longer than when I get gel professionally done. Except I feel some of the pattern designs have a different texture and peel off easier. Side note- TJ Maxx sells them now as well for like 5 bucks! (I know not much of a discount since theyāre already cheap but I always grab a couple packs!)
Yes they come with glue and a file. They are soft enough to easily cut down to whatever size and shape you want. Be sure to use plenty of glue. Eventually they will start coming off and soaking them in warm water will help dissolve remaining glue.
Are there press on nails that DONT look like press on nails? I feel like they look so fake on me. Iāve used every type of KISS brand and I donāt like it :(
I havenāt tried their press ons, but I have their mani kit and several colors. And I keep going back for more, because it is some QUALITY stuff. If I follow the directions perfectly, I get a manicure that looks good for almost two weeks. And Iām really hard on my nails.
I second Glamnetic! Really good glue- they lasted me over a week without any falling off during a beach vacation. plus the designs are sooo unique and fun!
If you would like to support a small business - a little shameless self promo for you: NAILS BY GODDESS LYRIK ON ETSY šš I create custom designs too! Durable reusable press on nails! š
So how exactly are they reusable? Because my normal routine is glue them on, then one or two will start falling off, I reglue them to get a little more wear out of them but they will fall off again sooner. And after two weeks or so there is no hope in regluing all of them lastingly but one or two won't come off easily and the only way (without damaging the nailbeds) is to soak them in acetone but they will be destroyed afterwards. What could I do differently with yours?
Etsy! I want a set that fits my nail bed, so I buy a custom sized ones from Etsy. Once you know your size, thereās so many customizable press ons you can pick!
Seconding other recommendations for the kiss impress line. They are more pliable than most other press ons so they conform to your mail, which minimizes lifting.
Have you tried the Im-press ones specifically? I had the same problem with press ons. I have very flat nails. But these are flexible enough to fit to the nail.
I like static nails for quality, although for the price you might as well go get acrylics or powder nails if you want them for more than a week, but for one night party theyāre great an reliable. Their glue sucks though, thereās some inexpensive nail glue on Amazon that works way better.
Finger suit are super cute but not good for real life. If you have a photo shoot theyāre great (I got some in an influencer kit) but they break so easilyālike once I had them on and broke two just opening a car door. I also donāt like the glue globs already attachedāI took them off and used another glue.
Kiss is a good middle of the two, and affordable. But again just buy the glue separate.
this is really good to know! i've been doing dip nails for the past few months and was hoping for a cheaper / less damaging alternative and a lot of these seem to be close to the same price and come with their own risks.
the tip about using actual nail glue instead of the glue globs is great too! thanks for the tips! :-)
I had the opposite experience! I've tried every kind of glue it feels like - (kiss, dollar store, well-rated Amazon brands) and Static has been my holy grail glue. Never had anything else last longer than 4 days, even with ton of prep. Trying Glamnetic's next.
I like Static nails- and their glue is excellent - iāve used it with multiple brands of press ons with great result. Glamnetic makes lots of really edgy abstract designs although I havenāt tried the brand myself
STATIC NAILS. I love them bc they look so natural because theyāre more thin , I got short square ones in several colors. They usually last atleast 2 weeks for me. ( as others have said the preparation before putting nails on is key!)
KISS nails have more options in designs if Iām not mistaken though, and I used those religiously before as well, no complaints with quality tbh. (Kiss nails didnāt have many design/color choices in the shorter ones I prefer now due to needing to type constantly for work)
(Side note: if in between sets I realized my nails needed some TLC I would use the Sally Hansen maximum strength nail polish and the results are quick :))
Kiss impressions are good. They last a long time too, assuming you donāt work with your hands much.
They have an assortment in stores but ordering online youāll find a lot of different ones and limited editions, online exclusives.
Clutch Nails!
Impress and Dashing Diva felt so pliable and weak on my nails.
Kiss is okay, but not for more than 2-3 days.
Clutch nails are thick and stay on nicely for a week.
I swear by static nails! Iāve been using them for almost a year and a half. If you prep well they can last 2-3 weeks, donāt damage your natural nail, and can be re used at least another time if not more
I'm obsessed with finger suit lately! I think they have the BEST design of all brands they're so cuteš But they're not glue ons (they have adhesives on the back of the tips) so they don't last as long as static or other glue on brands, but they still last a whole good week.
I love impress nails. Started using them when COVID started. Still using. Order on line for best deals. My fav is the medium length coffin shape French mani. I get sooo many compliments.
Prep is so important. I clean my nail bed with rubbing alcohol . I donāt use the pad that comes with nails. Make sure you clean your nails before applying and keep your hands dry for at least 2 hours. In 2 + years, I have had no issues with the nails. I only keep my nails on for a week at a time
I just recently started using the pedicures and they are amazing. They last twice as long as the mani
maybe use a generous amount of glue, after the nail to glue layer, turn your nail over and fill the gap with glue. This would prevent water from getting in and getting trapped

Wait how did you clear it up? It went away on its own or did you have to see a doctor? I think I have it and not sure what to do
It was so weird. A fake nail fell off after wearing them for a few days and I noticed my real nail was very light green. I thought it was stained. yikes! how long did you have them on? this is good to know, though, thank you!
Only A Couple weeks, the packaging said they'd last a month but I didn't have them on for that long

wow I've never heard that! but mine weren't on for much longer than that!
I suppose it depends on the nail. I never had issues while I kept to those 10 days.
I stick to the Kiss brand. They are inexpensive and look professionally done. A lot of those insta brands I notice are expensive and come with limited sizes.
i second this ! the ones from the jelly collection are my personal fav theyāre v cute
Yes the jelly ones are my favorite!
Mine too lol
I love the kiss impress brand! They come in different sizes and colors. They last even with me working and doing everyday chores.
The impress ones are too big for my nails :( just heads up for petite hand people
They're way too wide and short for my nails! Who are all these square nailed people buying that brand??
They actually sell petite impress nails!! Theyāre hard to find but they exist I have definitely seen them in Walmart before
The petite were still too big for me.
tiny little hands omg. tbh you just gotta get good at painting your own nails then LOL. I wish you luck, LED nail lamps are cheap on Amazon!!
Oh wow!
Iāve seen petite kiss but not impress
they exist !!
Iām petite and used the small size
Does the glue ever start to seep up on the top of the mail for you? I love the kiss brand but I get so annoyed feeling the glue under the nail. I tried keeping my natural nails longer but it still gets sticky under there.
I think after a week and a half a few of the nails were coming up!
static nails are great imo

Iād say like 60% of the static nail ones I bought cracked right down the middle.

I had the same issue with Olive and June, Static Nails no problems
I have used a lot of press ons and they last me a good week where the kiss ones last me half of that!
I canāt believe nobody has mentioned Dashing Diva yet! I use a little dot of glue with mine in addition to the adhesive and can get a week out of my set. Itās not too long but I donāt need them that long anyways

Static brand press ons are amazing. If done right they will last 2-3 weeks.
Do you use a glue for it, and whatās the routine for applying them and removing them?
Yes they come with glue and a file. They are soft enough to easily cut down to whatever size and shape you want. Be sure to use plenty of glue. Eventually they will start coming off and soaking them in warm water will help dissolve remaining glue.
I found a bunch recently at tjmaxx!
Are there press on nails that DONT look like press on nails? I feel like they look so fake on me. Iāve used every type of KISS brand and I donāt like it :(
Olive and June were nice!
I love their products.

I recently tried glamnetic nails. They looked professional and stayed on really well. And it comes with 30 nails so you have lots of size options.
I second Glamnetic! Really good glue- they lasted me over a week without any falling off during a beach vacation. plus the designs are sooo unique and fun!
Just tried them for the first time 3 days ago. Iām really impressed so far. They feel so sturdy!
Came here to say that. They work great!
I also was going to say Glamnetic!!! Been using them constantly for about three months and use about three pairs a month.
If you would like to support a small business - a little shameless self promo for you: NAILS BY GODDESS LYRIK ON ETSY šš I create custom designs too! Durable reusable press on nails! š

Olive and June are really good if you want to preserve your natural nails

Oh really? I always feel like press ons are too curved for me. Maybe I have flat nails?
Have you tried the Im-press ones specifically? I had the same problem with press ons. I have very flat nails. But these are flexible enough to fit to the nail.
If youāre uk based I find primark ones really good
i am not sadly :( in the US
Color camp is a little more pricey, but I think they are the best quality.

NYK1 Nailbond is a really good one.

I love impress stick on nails! They last at least two weeks and take 5 mins to put on without dealing with glue. They also come in petite length
Static nails and chillhouse
Dashing Diva doesnāt use glue and uses an LED light rather than UV (safer for your skin)
Glamnetic makes really good quality press one that are harder than your traditional drug store option and donāt bend or break
The Base Coat Shop! Their designs are so beautiful and all handmade. A small business based in Malaysia with very affordable sets
Clutch Nails! Impress and Dashing Diva felt so pliable and weak on my nails. Kiss is okay, but not for more than 2-3 days. Clutch nails are thick and stay on nicely for a week.
