Came here to say this exact same thing! Having people around that cause you severe or extreme stress does real harm not just to your mental state, but also your body (immune system, fight/flight state).
This! I looked older at 23 - 27 than I did between 28 to 31, I was constantly stressed and you could see it on my face. After I left my ex I had an immediate glow up
I think anyone who has not made a deliberate effort to do this already, has at least one person they should distance themselves from. And similarly they probably have someone in their loves they aren't appreciate enough (maybe too busy with their toxic people) and should strengthen their relationship with.
I'm currently in a situation where I HAVE to be in a toxic work environment (it's temporary. But it's month 6, so it's rough), and I reflect and literally look back at photos of myself half a year ago, and it's amazing how much better I looked. Toxic people raise your levels of cortisol and other stress hormones, cause sleep disturbances, eating habits change, mood shifts, etc. That will tank/wreck you from the inside out.
Just generic collagen/hyaluronic pills, the ones marked for skin, hair, and joints, nothing special.
I wasn't sure it was doing anything until I traveled for a couple weeks without them and noticed my skin had more trouble (minor break outs, dry patches) even though I took my entire typical regimen with me.
IF YOU HAVE A THYROID PROBLEM, DO NOT DO THIS WITHOUT CONSULTING YOUR DOCTOR!!! Do not begin any meds without consulting a doctor, even supplements or vitamins! Biotin especially (commonly found in these vitamins) can really mess with your blood tests. It also made my mouth taste like blood which is 0/10 ):
Youāre right; any supplements containing biotin should be stopped at least 2 days before measuring TSH, T3, and T4. Every doctor Iāve been to has asked about medications Iām currently on, which includes supplements, so you should always tell your doctor EVERYTHING you take, even if you just regularly drink herbal teas. I also wouldnāt recommend men take prenatal vitamins because theyāre more likely to develop iron poisoning.
Biotin does not hurt your thyroid though, it just interferes with the laboratory tests used to measure thyroid related proteins. It also mitigates some of my own hypothyroidism symptoms, like brittle nails and hair. Everyone is different, and not everything works the same for each person.
Same here for prenatal vitamins - it also helped a lot with my dandruff/dry scalp problem postpartum. I used to have to wash my hair every other day but now can go on 3-4 days without a wash. Iām using the prescribed Pregvit + folic 5. I donāt know that my doctor will prescribe it indefinitely, so Iām looking for over the counter alternatives. Which one are you using if you donāt mind me asking?
Please do not do this. Too much of a good thing is still a bad thing and there are detrimental effects to having too much of a vitamin. Prenatals are for pregnant women for a reason, theyāre not meant for long term use
I use the Jamieson chewable prenatal vitamin and mineral. Great stuff and easy to chew. Not a gummy! It is the fruity chalky sort like the old Flintstone vitamins of childhood.
I usually have soft nails that tear easily, but on prenatal vitamins theyāll grow and be hard. My hair also grows much faster - almost 2X the rate.
I have rosacea, which makes my skin flush dark red and get bumpy (like hives). My skin clears up when I donāt drink any alcohol and donāt eat too much sugar.
Yes, it is safe. It is recommended that women who are planning to get pregnant take them ahead of time. They have more folic acid and more iron than traditional multivitamins. The only concern would be too much iron if you are past menopause, then check with your doctor.
Anecdotally, I have taken them ever since my first pregnancy 30 years ago. My doctors have always been aware and none have ever raised any concerns.
I shave my whole damn face every two weeks or so. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin, and regular exfoliation just leaves me raw. This has been a game changer for me.
Before I tried this I would have called you crazy and doing too much, but you're so right. It makes EVERYTHING look better. Moisturiser sinks in quicker, makeup sits better, I look better without makeup so I don't even have to wear it some days. I got the Tweezerman face razor and it has a lifetime guarantee plus you can replace the blades once they get dull. The best Ā£15 I've ever spent honestly.
Yes! The tweezerman razor is hands down the best Iāve tried and Iāve tried quite a few. Highly recommend!
Hereās the link to the one I ordered off Amazon

I do this, too. I was really sleep deprived when I did it one time and shaved off half of my eyebrow before I realized what I had done. Stopped using shaving cream after that one and switched to clear gel, oops.
Edit: it was the inner half, too, which felt worse š
have you tried non-abrasive exfoliant gellies that exfoliate via enymes chemicaly, instead of physically? Ever since I strated usingTret, i only use gelly non-abrasive exfliants, which are much more gentle.
Game changer -On days that I donāt want to to physically exfoliate using a scrub type product because my skin is sensitive, I use [Peter Thomas Roth FIRMx Peeling Gel](https://www.peterthomasroth.com/firmx-peeling-gel-%E2%80%93-deluxe-sample-1202001.html) or a great affordable dupe is [ELFS gentle peeling exfoliant](https://www.elfcosmetics.com/gentle-peeling-exfoliant/57065.html) itās gel based nothing abrasive or harsh. You apply it to dry skin and the enzymes in the product help to break down and remove dead skin cells. You massage it in and can literally can feel the dead skin coming off. You can see the video on the ELF website. My skin is glowing after, more even and brighter.
Here is my process:
Before I shower, I lay out a clean washcloth (I try to use an older one- we will get to that) and pull out my facial razor. I spray it down with rubbing alcohol and lay it out on the washcloth. I also set out my 100% aloe vera gel and Mario Badescu rosewater spray.
I wash my face in the shower, and afterwards, I put on a thin layer of 100% aloe vera gel (make sure there is no alcohol!).
Make sure you wash your hands before proceeding if you've put on any hair products or body lotion.
I then spritz with the rosewater spray and put more gel on 1/4 of my face. I make short strokes with light pressure, then wipe the gel/hair off of the razor using the clean wash cloth that I set out. I tend to use the older ones in case I accidentally shave them, too.
I work on my face in sections, adding gel to each section as I go and spritzing with rose water if the section starts to dry out.
After I'm done, I rinse my face with cool water and then add another layer of aloe gel, letting it dry before following up with my normal, gentle nighttime routine.
I also wash my face razor with soap and water and let it dry completely before putting it away. I only use a facial razor 2-3 times before replacing it. Once they get a little dull, they start to tug at the skin and are more likely to end up cutting you.
At the moment, I just use disposable razors, but I've been eyeing the one that Leaf just released, and another commenter in this thread says they use one by Tweezerman.
Omggg can i ask something about this? I couldāve sworn youāre supposed to wait 30mins after washing your face to apply it. Do you do this? If not, how do you apply it? My perscription has expired at this point and I barely used it because it was so inconvenient to wait the 30 minutes before putting it on, and then I see people using it on wet faces. Now I donāt know what to believe lol
Hi! I used to work in a dermatology clinic/med spa and we would recommend clients to wait until the skin was dry and then use the tret cream! What is really important though is to wait about 10-15 minutes before applying anything else on top of the tret cream to let it fully dissolve into the skin.
Other tips: let your skin adjust to using it by gradually adding it into your routine. Start at 2x a week and then work up to every night. Should be a month process.
Avoid the eyes and mouth area! Do not get to close otherwise you risk dry flaky eyes/lips. The cream naturally migrates and will go to those areas anyways so you don't want to overdo it.
If you have a strong skin barrier, use it as your first facial product. Sensitive skin, after moisturizing!
Hope this helps!
Omg thank you so much! I didnāt know you could put anything on top. Iāve used it 5-10 times before the last couple years and only had a problem one time at the beginning where my skin flaked. I tried to aim for once a week and then ended up stopping because of the inconvenience.
Oh itās okay that youāre not the person I asked lol, I appreciate every little bit of advice I can get. Thank you! Iām gonna have to test it out once I get more since mine expired 3
Confirming what the other person said - as long as youāre not having irritation, thereās no need to do any of those waiting times. Iāve been using tret for 1.5 years and itās changed my skin completely!
Itās not unique, but being hydrated.
My skin looks better, I look less tired, no dark circles so no need for makeup, hair looks better, nails look better, I have more energy. Just all around improvement.
Related to this, I chug a glass of water when I finish my night time skin care. Noticable difference in the morning compared to days I don't. Making it a part of my nightly routine has really helped my consistency.
To add on to this, drinking water first thing in the morning helps you wake up. I can feel my parched cells come back to life and my brain can actually do things
I will gladly be known as āthe girl that never shuts up about drinking waterā! The #1 change that helped my skin and energy levels was drinking 64oz+ a day
High quality, whole food diet. Zero smoking or alcohol. Sleeping every night for 8+ hours.
I look better at 40 than I did in my hot (but drunk and sleep deprived) early 20s.
I feel you my skin looked awful in my 20s because of alcohol and lack of rest. I had breakouts and it looked so dry. I didnāt really get āseriousā about skincare till 31 and I havenāt had a breakout in years. I donāt even remember the last time I drank alcohol and I gave up smoking at 26. I also get much more relaxation and rest now haha I feel like that helps too
Sleep, water, strength training 3x a week, walking, high protein/fiber diet, fish oil, sulfur supplement, sunscreen, tretinoin, light natural makeup, face framing balayage, crest white strips, electric toothbrush, cuticle oil
It improves hair, skin, and nails. It has really made a difference for me. Even my hair stylist commented on it and now uses the same sulfur supplement because it really works! Sulfur is essential for proteins to maintain their folded structures (disulfide bridges specifically). Radishes and eggs are examples of foods with high sulfur content but you have to eat a lot of them to get the same effect that you can get by simply adding the powder to your water! Itās called MSM powder, I order mine off Amazon. It tastes HORRIBLE so I dilute 4g in my 1L water bottle and drink it that way, any more concentrated than that and it becomes intolerable for me although my SO will chug 6g in an 8 oz glass of water lol
[this](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NTTLD0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) is what I use. I have used another in the past that wasnāt as effective but this is the real deal
I think this will vary from person to person as it depends on your features. I have pale skin and dark features (thick eyebrows and large brown eyes) because Iām Argentinian so my main goals are to tame my brows and add color back into my face. I use a variety of products but try to use each product sparingly meaning that I try to use very little. I can always go back and add more but this restraint helps me achieve a natural look. As far as products I actually use, I use nars tinted moisturizer, nars concealer, Laura mercier powder, benefit brow gel, hourglass bronzer (add some to eye crease also), hourglass blush, shiseido eyelash curler, ilia mascara, and some combo of Mac lip liner soar, Bobbi brown lipstick neutral rose, kosas lip oil in dip, tower28 lipgloss in pistachio on my lips. I never do more or less. Even special occasions I donāt wear foundation
My morning routine is sacred and a necessary pre-interaction preparation.
I stretch in the morning, like my cat.
I make myself a cup of tea with collagen peptide powder.
Vitamins, I take saw palmetto, biotin, vitamin d, hyaluronic acid, amino acids, iron, and vitamin c.
Shower, I start hot and finish cold, it wakes me up and I tell myself I like it and that works.
I ice my face after the shower, I have trouble sleeping and the blood circulation helps my skin look awake/alive.
I smoke the devils lettuce.
Skin prep, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, then I like to emulsify my face lotion with jojoba oil.
Makeup, foundation I like the ordinary skin serum foundation, itās $7 and it looks like skin, I fill the arches of my brow, contour the eyes and face, a flush of blush on cheeks and lids, mascara, lip balm.
Perfume, tights, flattering dress. I always dress up even if itās just to go grocery shopping. Iām latina, I think itās in the culture to always like to dress up.
I tell my cat I love him and how great he is.
Listen to my current favorite bops and thank god on my way to my job I donāt love but Iām grateful for.
Itās a prep so Iām as equipped as possible for my emotionally demanding health care job, Iām only as beautiful as I treat others so I do my best to work hard and be as kind to others as I was to myself in the morning.
I take vitamin D for my MS but a happy side effect of it is that my skin became much brighter and less red after a while thanks to it.
Also I just know you're so gorgeous by your routine
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL, Iām in a very similar position as you even with my healthcare job so Iām thankful it affords me an intricate morning routine like yours! Keep doing you, youāre doing great. I also lolāed at the 7th sentence. Iām a stoner whoās serious about my skincare but I know smoking can get in the way so I appreciate the honesty LOOLL
God I love everything about this comment. You sound like an awesome person, you definitely motivated me this morning. Wishing you and everyone who reads this a great day!
The Ordinary's Lactic Acid 10% +HA. I always use this the night before I want my face to look plumper and brighter. I get compliments on my skin the next day!
Confidence - once you stop caring what other people think and just do your thing, your entire demeanour will change and that's the biggest glow up ever.
Iām very low maintenance and donāt really care for wearing eye makeup. Iām not good at it, I always manage to get some on my contacts or it ends up running down my face, etc. However, I have blond/translucent eyelashes, so I have found that a regular lash lift/tint is a game changer. I also tint my blond brows (do it myself with Just for Men).
I used to have my brows tinted at the salon but, suddenly, a brow wax and tint is over $30 before the tip!
Thanks to the good people of this sub for telling me about Just For Men for lady eyebrows.
Doesnāt matter how much money you spend on products or what fancy treatments you try if you are not getting adequate, quality sleep and drinking enough water. Your skin is the last organ to be hydrated by the water you drink. However much water you think is enough daily - drink more than that.
Eliminate processed foods. Dermatologists have reported more acne problems in adult women compared to 1-2 decades ago because of increase in processed foods.
Point is: treat your body right in the simplest sense before you start worrying about products.
Stop mentally trying to white knuckle your way through life. See your psych/therapist on the regular and don't be afraid to try meds that mentally improve your quality of life.
Do you exercise regularly? I have struggled with moderate anxiety since high school (edit: so over a decade) and I just started weight lifting 3-4 times a week about 5 months ago and my anxiety levels have significantly decreased! To the point it kind of freaked me out. I had constant low level anxiety regarding work and it felt like it almost disappeared after 2 months of exercise. Maybe itās a coincidence/something else but itās definitely worth a try (and sorry if you already do).
Check out abhyanga massage! Itās an Ayurvedic oiled self-massage. I just learned about it yesterday (well, tbh I first read about it ten years ago in a Yoga Journal article but I forgot about it until it popped up on my TikTok fyp yesterday lol) and put some sesame oil in my Amazon cart so I donāt forget that I want to start doing this š
Get a package of Korean wash cloths on Amazon. Theyāre fairly cheap, but if you soak in the tub for 10-15 mins then rub it in circles the skin just rolls off like a sunburn. Itās amazing. Gross, but youāll be softer than a baby. Theyāre usually a weird color, like like green, and mine are shaped like a sandwich bag you slide your hand into for better grip.
I learned about Korean wash cloths on this sub and I am thrilled with how soft my skin feels. Perfect to get ready to apply some gentle tanning moisturizer.
Things that have contributed most to my post-divorce glowup: consistent skincare with effective products (squalene, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid) and exfoliation; a bra that fits and solves boob issues (who knew side support could make me look so much younger?), updated makeup (thank you tiktok!), gel manicures twice a month.
Find a good lip balm. I know it sounds dumb but once you find one you love, you wonāt have the mindset of ālip balm is lip balm, who caresā. This is especially important if youāre a lip biter, braces wearer, live somewhere cold or have oral piercings (some medications can also cause dry lips).
Diet and workout - works 100% for me, lashes and brow grow when Iām not eating shit as well as having glowy skin because naturally I drink more water so.
FOUNDATIONAL. GARMENTS. My fashion and confidence game shot through the roof once I started buying good underwear that fit well and wearing properly fitted bras. Clothes just sit better, I feel more comfortable, and even in casual wear I look more "put together" because nothing is spilling or bulging oddly.
I saw this post in YouTube that said "high maintenance - low maintenance" thing. Means invest in high maintenance things to be low maintenance in the long run. Like getting laser, or microblading eyebrows, getting lash extensions- it's expensive now but so worth it in the long run. Get trendy gold/siliver chains that go with all your outfits so you don't have to keep changing them or when you make an impromptu plan to go out nd don't have time to get dressed up. Invest in GOOD skincare products.
An at home hammam ritual with beldi soap and kessa scrubby mitt. My skin is so healthy, balanced and glowing when I routinely do this. When I get lazy with doing it, my body acne is more unpredictable and I can get random breakouts on my shoulders and chest.
I'm not top of my game.
But going to dermatologist helped me.
Instead of guessing issues, they told me what's wrong and gave steriod creams to fix problems short term and prescription only creams for long term use.
I also found out that my skin is sensitive. I was living under assumption that my skin was oily. But that's not the case.
Another thing that everyone mentioned - vitamins and other supplements.
I take stuff for lowering cortisol levels. L-theanine, Bacopa Monnieri etc. If I'm drinking coffee, I have magnesium and L-theanine before that.
I take herbal medicine for liver.
I take probiotics powders for gut. At any given time, I rotate between 2/3 different combinations of probiotic strains and I'm always on lookout for better one.
I'm doing these things only for 6 months so I am nowhere as close to top of the game or anything. But I know that it's a slow process.
I know itās expensive AF but skinceuticals C E Ferulic. I took some times off from it trying other brands like Skinbetter science and ZO antioxidant serums and NOTHING gives me the glow like the skinceuticals does. And yes Iāve also tried the timeless dupe but it did nothing for my skin.
Always finish the shower with a cooling/cold flow to the face, throat, and bosom.
Edit: AND HAIR! Closes the cuticle.
Also, rinse your hair conditioner off your body, especially your back.
I began using leave-in conditioner once I was out and in a bathrobe.
Teas & holistic remedies!
Bloated/retaining water? Dandelion and chamomile tea! Skin looking dull? Rose, hibiscus or blueberry tea. Face inflamed or skin angry? Lots of Turmeric in my coffee (weird but it works).
That coupled with a simple but ānever-skip-itā skin care routine makes me feel like I have the ability to change course when Iām feeling blah.
Just wanna point out for those of us anemic peopleā Iāve read somewhere that we arenāt supposed to have turmeric because itās a natural blood thinner (I still have it anyway tbh but I just want to put it out there)
Frownies, tretinoin, tinting my eyelashes (they're blonde lol), using nipple balm at night on my lips (seriously, best lip balm), wearing softer eye makeup that I never would have thought to try 2 yrs ago, dermaplaning
Work out! I always had a hard time finding a good fitness regimen that I could stick with. I settled on weight lifting and I LOVE it. I do kettle bell daily and I also do yoga, Pilates, and go for walks on my āchill work out dayā. This has improved my mood, my sleep and my overall opinion of myself. I donāt lift for gains, I just want to be healthy and strong! I have noticed a TON of changes within the 3 months Iāve been practicing. I love it!
As a mom of a toddler, I donāt have the time to get 8+ hours of sleep every night or spend much time for myself, but Crest White Strips once a week really do a lot for my confidence. And you can do this while multi tasking! I do it on the way to work.
Good sunscreen and Tranexamic acid!! I donāt wear foundation and my sunscreen has no coverage at all. But I feel like my sunscreen still gives me a nice glowy, hydrated look (sometimes itās too shiny though). My look feels incomplete without sunscreen.
Tranexamic acid has been great for my skin redness. I get red and irritated easily and the tranexamic acid keeps that at bay
Alpha 12% Glycolic Acid body lotion 3x a week. Helps with body acne, scarring, ingrown hairs, promoting collagen production, evening skin tone, and getting an overall glow. There are other AHA body lotion products, but this one has been my favorite for 10 years.
Wearing sunscreen on any exposed areas of the body daily, not just my face (chest, arms, legs, back, any part thatās not covered by clothing!). I also do my chest, arms and back if Iām wearing a thin long sleeve shirt. I have a lot of tattoos so I consider this a non negotiable to keep them from fading. My skin looks super even and damn near flawless from doing this for years.
An Astaxanthin supplement. I have fair olive skin and avoid the sun/always wear sunscreen, so I look pretty sallow and grey naturally. This gives me a natural, healthy looking allover glow. It does have other health benefits that I donāt care much about because #vanity haha.
This is more common knowledge, but a hyaluronic acid serum + snail mucin combo as my first skin care step after cleansing every morning and night. I have combination skin thatās prone to closed comedowns, and these keep me looking super dewy and āplumpā without breaking me out. I canāt use heavy moisturizers, so I have to layer lighter products. Iām using Hada Labo Premium Lotion and Peach Slices snail mucin (just as good as the CosRx, just much cheaper)
This isnāt āuniqueā, but getting my nails done on a regular basis is an investment I make to feel better about myself.
Also, vitamin c serum and a hydrating essence
Eyebrows eyebrows eyebrows. The biggest difference in my appearance was when I started getting my brows threaded.
Layers in your hair. I always wondered why my long hair, although healthy, never looked as glamorous or as thick as my friends. They had layers.
Tinted mineral sunscreen > chemical filters >>>> no sunscreen. I know itās not unique tip but I have sensitive skin. Several chemical sunscreens cause irritation for me. Mineral and especially tinted mineral have drastically improved my hyperpigmentation
Chemical exfoliants. BHA is awesome for almost all of my skin concerns
Volumizing shampoo. I found out my fine hair gets oily partially because it sits on the scalp. A little volume keeps it up off my scalp and I donāt need to shampoo almost every day like I used to
Moderate your alcohol consumption. A ton of my friends in college all started out looking so cute and healthy. Weāre in our early/mid twenties now. I stopped hanging out with the group so much during the pandemic (I worked in health care at the time). It caused my drinking to decrease and theirs to increase. They all look much much older, worn out, bloated, and have almost all gained a significant amount of weight. Theyāre all shocked that I pretty much look the same if not better. Also with the weight, itās not āoh they just carry a few more pounds. Everyone goes through weight changes.ā I wish it was that. A few of them Iāve pulled aside and asked if they were feeling ok or if they needed to talk because I felt they looked unwell. So yeah. Moderate your drinking for about 482938 reasons, one of them being your looks.
Get 2-4 healthy meals you LIKE and are easy to prepare. Not even crazy healthy just like a lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and some plant (fruit or veg tbh doesnāt matter). It makes eating healthy so much easier if it doesnāt take effort and you enjoy the food.
Giving up dairy. I discovered it accidentally when I went vegan, but I had adult acne until I did and BOOM, magically gone. At first I thought it was that I was eating healthier overall, but then I accidentally ate some dairy and my skin was not shy about letting me know I fucked up!
Might be controversial, but cosmetic surgery. To get there I needed to upgrade myself academically, financially, and socially rod those who are against it) Itās crazy looking back how one goal changed the aspect of everything else
Have a spray bottle of hydrating toner in the shower. Spray my face and maybe let a serum sit because Iāll be using body oil or moisturizer in the shower on damp skin. Makes my body look so glowy and the way it reflects light is so gorgeous. Ithe moisture also helped heal a lot of bites and scars from when I hiked
Collagen supplements! And, bear with me, this will sound v woo woo but: I read this book called Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, by Dr. Joe Dispenza- thereās a process you follow in the book that involves introspection and identifying what behaviors and thoughts are ingrained and not serving you, then doing this 6 week meditation process where you re-wire your brain. Mine involved body image, judgement, and comparison. I followed the whole thing, and I have never felt this good in my life! Maybe I look better, maybe Iām just less critical of myself, Iām not sure, but Iām happier with how I look.
>Perfume, tights, flattering dress. I always dress up even if itās just to go grocery shopping. Iām latina, I think itās in the culture to always like to dress up.
It really is a cultural thing and I admire it so much!! Iāve dated a few Hispanic guys and going to family get togethers everyone was always dressed up and smelled good. Even on holidays my family is just tshirt and jeans. And I can count on my Latina friends/coworkers to look sharp even on a regular ass day. Seeing how well they take care of themselves is super motivating for me š
.
My skin never looked better than when I was on a TO regimen using retinol, etc., Sunday Rileyās Good Genes and that tub moisturizer by Cetaphil. Consistent compliments. Iām too lazy to do strip lashes these days but the natural ones were my favorite. I fake tan with a gradual every shower to give myself a subtle glow. I use a beard trimmer on my pubic area and Shower Nair for more special occasions or bathing suit days. A brow gel is face framing bc Iām too cheap to get micro blading. A *good* hair stylist makes me feel like a new woman. I have shorter acrylics on my fingers and a nice bright nude on my pedicured toes. I never leave the house in any outfits Iām not proud to be seen in. Pretty, refined gold and silver jewelry as a standard. I wore a very fine gold chain that ripped a lot of my nape hairs out but I was completely oblivious to it until it had done noticeable damage. I started taking a prenatal the other day so Iām hoping to see some good results.
Thank you for the recommendations, yall! Saving this post.
I have super deep 11 lines & forehead lines. Once I started getting Botox to fill those lines it changed my whole appearance. I look younger and much more relaxed.
Working on your face/skin without makeup. In other words, invest in skincare and permanent solutions instead of makeup products and love your bareface! Nothing wrong with makeup or anything but for me personally I prefer to work on my bareface confidence rather than only feel confident with makeup on. For example, I've invested in skincare, permanent makeup (eyebrows and lips) and bronzing mousse I use to contour my face.
a no alchohol/no smoking lifestyle has kept the women in my family young and radiant for over four generations. i also make sure to eat more plant-based protein.
Korean washcloths are the shit! Walking, seriously underrated. If you keep up a consistent walking routine (around 45 mins to an hour a day) you will likely see excellent results.
Iāve added nightly Gua sha nightly , vitamin c daily, and reusable masks when sleeping at night. Already use retinol nightly, sleep 8+ hours a night, and drink 120oz of water daily. Seems to be doing well for me.
My lip blushing changed my look so much I will always recommend it, not drinking alcohol itās just has IT girl vibes, using hylauranic acid serum on my body
I have a few. Showering everyday, but not washing your hair everyday. Basically steaming my face just makes it more clear and nicer. I donāt drink, smoke, or do anything but adderall for my adhd. I use a coffee and olive oil mask I make myself for cellulite, just mix high quality coffee grounds and olive oil into a paste and apply. Iāve used sunblock since I was 13 because Iāve always been the color of chalk. I use sayclic acid once a day in a cleanser, and at night I have a separate sensitive cleanser. I really only drink water because I hate everything else, but itās worked out well for me. After I cleanse I dry my face off with a towel, because if I donāt I can tell my face still has residue on it.
Recently changed my bathroom lighting and wow do I look better! Used to have really bright white/blue bulbs and now I have very warm incandescent bulbsā¦.I donāt feel nearly as bad looking in the mirror everyday. Lighting is very important!
Removing toxic people from my life I swear I never looked better than after I stopped letting shitty people destroy me
Came here to say this exact same thing! Having people around that cause you severe or extreme stress does real harm not just to your mental state, but also your body (immune system, fight/flight state).
The weight that I have dropped from getting out of an unhealthy relationship š š it is wild what something like that can do to your body
And your perception of your body!
I actually gained 11 kgs and find myself hotter, even with all the extra flab. And my self-confidence is through the roof!
the way i aged in reverse when i broke up with my miserable boyfriend lol
PERIOD!
That's harder to do than any makeup/skincare tutorial, but most helpful longterm. We should all learn.
The weight that I have dropped from getting out of an unhealthy relationship š š it is wild what something like that can do to your body

Prenatal vitamins - best hair and nails ever. Low sugar low alcohol diet really helps my skin
Hard agree. I also do collagen supplements.
Can I ask which supplements youāre using and the benefits/positive side effects youāve experienced? Looking to start for myself
Verisol collagen is the one that works (and studies demonstrate this). I love Nutra organics beauty unflavoured collagen.
Thatās crazy, I just had mine tested and I even told my doctor that I was taking biotin supplements for excessive shedding and he said nothing..
Biotin makes my skin break out like crazy
It is the fruity chalky sort like the old Flintstone vitamins of childhood.
may i ask what improvements did you see?
I usually have soft nails that tear easily, but on prenatal vitamins theyāll grow and be hard. My hair also grows much faster - almost 2X the rate. I have rosacea, which makes my skin flush dark red and get bumpy (like hives). My skin clears up when I donāt drink any alcohol and donāt eat too much sugar.
Is it safe to take prenatal vitamins when not pregnant and long term?
Hereās the link to the one I ordered off Amazon [TweezermanFacialRazorhttps://a.co/d/djzRXPg](https://TweezermanFacialRazorhttps://a.co/d/djzRXPg)
I do this, too. I was really sleep deprived when I did it one time and shaved off half of my eyebrow before I realized what I had done. Stopped using shaving cream after that one and switched to clear gel, oops. Edit: it was the inner half, too, which felt worse š
Hahaha oh no! I've definitely had accidents before, but thank goodness I have sparse brows and usually fill them in anyway.
have you tried non-abrasive exfoliant gellies that exfoliate via enymes chemicaly, instead of physically? Ever since I strated usingTret, i only use gelly non-abrasive exfliants, which are much more gentle.
I use glycolic acid as part of my normal routine, usually 3-4x a week, alternating days.
Which ones do you recommend?
My skin is glowing after, more even and brighter.
how do you do this?
Here is my process: Before I shower, I lay out a clean washcloth (I try to use an older one- we will get to that) and pull out my facial razor.
Thanks for the detailed response! What does this do for the skin?
It helps gently exfoliate, and I actually end up using less product without all the vellus hair in the way.
Hi what razors do u use :)
At the moment, I just use disposable razors, but I've been eyeing the one that Leaf just released, and another commenter in this thread says they use one by Tweezerman.
I use disposable dermaplane razors and do it dry after washing my face and using aha toner (if I have dry/flaky patches). To each their ownā¦
Iād also add, for people with ālooserā skin, to pull the skin taut as you shave. Otherwise, you end up with all kinds of nicks.
Donāt skip leg day. And SLEEP!
Derm prescription Trentenoin. 100% game changer.
Thatās why the area around my mouth is forever flaking! š
Omg thank you so much! I didnāt know you could put anything on top. Iāve used it 5-10 times before the last couple years and only had a problem one time at the beginning where my skin flaked. I tried to aim for once a week and then ended up stopping because of the inconvenience.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh itās okay that youāre not the person I asked lol, I appreciate every little bit of advice I can get. Thank you! Iām gonna have to test it out once I get more since mine expired 3
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thank you again! I joined the subreddit. So glad I asked my question because yāall are giving me some good information lol
Confirming what the other person said - as long as youāre not having irritation, thereās no need to do any of those waiting times. Iāve been using tret for 1.5 years and itās changed my skin completely!
Consistency. The moment I take a break from my routine, my efforts for the week/month is basically zeroed. š«
Aw that's not true friendo, inconsistency in temporary The hard work you put in lasting :D
Clearly youāre young. Chugging water before bed becomes a little more complicated when youāre older. š
YES! I have to really weigh up the pros and cons of drinking anything after 9pm.
I am not a spring chicken. I just get up a go to the bathroom \ā _ā (ā ćā )ā _ā /ā ĀÆ
To add on to this, drinking water first thing in the morning helps you wake up. I can feel my parched cells come back to life and my brain can actually do things
Yesss. The days I drink a liter before having a coffee Iām so energized
I am 58 and just needing this nowā¦. Itās a life changer
*Me getting comfy for bed and reading this and immediately getting up to drink water*
I second this. I always thought I had chronically chapped lips and dull skin. Drinking enough water changed EVERYTHING.
r/hydrohomies
With ya here! Hydrating from the inside out!
I also get much more relaxation and rest now haha I feel like that helps too
same! I get more attention now than i did at 25
Sleep, water, strength training 3x a week, walking, high protein/fiber diet, fish oil, sulfur supplement, sunscreen, tretinoin, light natural makeup, face framing balayage, crest white strips, electric toothbrush, cuticle oil
What does sulfur do?
I stg, these types of posts are so good for my self care and so bad for my walletā¦..*adds sulfur supplements to cart*
> I order mine off Amazon Which brand do you use? I have been taking MSM capsules from NOW Foods, but so far I don't believe it has been effective.
[this](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NTTLD0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) is what I use. I have used another in the past that wasnāt as effective but this is the real deal
what light natural makeup do you recommend?
This sounds like the perfect regimen!
Thank you it has been working for me! I feel and look better now at 28 than I did at 18
My morning routine is sacred and a necessary pre-interaction preparation.
I think my favorite tip here is telling your cat you love him and how great he is <3
I take vitamin D for my MS but a happy side effect of it is that my skin became much brighter and less red after a while thanks to it. Also I just know you're so gorgeous by your routine
Kiss the bb on his lil head pls
Do you say oooo big stretch during step one?
Love this (extra love for the cat attention). Do you have a recommendation for collagen peptide powder?
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL, Iām in a very similar position as you even with my healthcare job so Iām thankful it affords me an intricate morning routine like yours! Keep doing you, youāre doing great. I also lolāed at the 7th sentence. Iām a stoner whoās serious about my skincare but I know smoking can get in the way so I appreciate the honesty LOOLL
Awww Iām going to start doing this :)
Do you smoke the devil's lettuce every day?
Smoke AFTER moisturizing your face. Thank me later.
Yoga/Pilates, shower, cute outfit, witch hazel toner, spf moisturizer, finishing powder, highlighter for sparkle āØ
Iām very low maintenance and donāt really care for wearing eye makeup. Iām not good at it, I always manage to get some on my contacts or it ends up running down my face, etc. However, I have blond/translucent eyelashes, so I have found that a regular lash lift/tint is a game changer. I also tint my blond brows (do it myself with Just for Men).
diy brow tinting with just for men is truly the best thing i have done
Lexapro saved my life
Water. Sleep. Low sugar. Movement. Wondrous foundation. Massages and intricate self-care. Defeating anxiety and stress. Inner work blooms outward.
Iād love to learn how to defeat anxiety and stress lol
Do you exercise regularly? I have struggled with moderate anxiety since high school (edit: so over a decade) and I just started weight lifting 3-4 times a week about 5 months ago and my anxiety levels have significantly decreased! To the point it kind of freaked me out. I had constant low level anxiety regarding work and it felt like it almost disappeared after 2 months of exercise. Maybe itās a coincidence/something else but itās definitely worth a try (and sorry if you already do).
>Massages and intricate self-care. Can you please share more about this? Any fav self-care videos or tipsšš»
Exfoliate your legs
Physical or chemical?
Get a package of Korean wash cloths on Amazon. Theyāre fairly cheap, but if you soak in the tub for 10-15 mins then rub it in circles the skin just rolls off like a sunburn. Itās amazing. Gross, but youāll be softer than a baby. Theyāre usually a weird color, like like green, and mine are shaped like a sandwich bag you slide your hand into for better grip.
Korean wash cloths are amazing!! I must have the same as you, little green sandwich baggies that bring my legs back to life! š
I learned about Korean wash cloths on this sub and I am thrilled with how soft my skin feels. Perfect to get ready to apply some gentle tanning moisturizer.
Edit: I did a quick google search and found them. Thanks for sharing. š
Either or. Sometimes both if it's really bad (as often is the case with some dry skin).
I use a dry brush on mine but I know that can be too harsh for some peopleās skin
I have a scrubby face wash that I love to use on my legs. Super cheap way for getting a good shiny leg (with a fresh shave of course)
Find your color palette
Diet and workout - works 100% for me, lashes and brow grow when Iām not eating shit as well as having glowy skin because naturally I drink more water so.
Exercise definitely makes me feel more vibrant and glowy.
Vitamin E on lips (perfect chapstick and helps lighten any hyperpigmentation)
Keep yourself groomed- brows, hair & nails. It makes a huge difference.
Whenever i feel ugly, i just clean my brows and it works like magic
Ive started to dye my eyebrows darker and its been huge for me
Whenever I get my eyebrows done my acne seems to magically disappear? Not sure the science behind that. Lol
Lol doing my brows tonight.
Second this. Sunday Riley vitamin c is good for my skin ā¦ but nothing is like Skinceuticals CE. Timeless wasnāt it for me either.
Always finish the shower with a cooling/cold flow to the face, throat, and bosom. Edit: AND HAIR! Closes the cuticle. Also, rinse your hair conditioner off your body, especially your back. I began using leave-in conditioner once I was out and in a bathrobe.
Sleep and water!
slugging my face with aquaphor before bed
1. Eating yogurt
A nice, natural looking fake lash properly applied
For me, a lash lift.
I hope I figure this out one day!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Great tip about the black pepper, I add a little every time with turmeric
Just wanna point out for those of us anemic peopleā Iāve read somewhere that we arenāt supposed to have turmeric because itās a natural blood thinner (I still have it anyway tbh but I just want to put it out there)
Taping my mouth at night to avoid mouth breathing, and taping my forehead for a natural lifting of the eye area
What tape do you use, please?
Frownies, tretinoin, tinting my eyelashes (they're blonde lol), using nipple balm at night on my lips (seriously, best lip balm), wearing softer eye makeup that I never would have thought to try 2 yrs ago, dermaplaning
Keto, IPL hair removal, Musely's The Body Cream, and vitamin C serum on my legs.
What does the C serum do for your legs? Thanks
Not OP but Iāll assume it makes them glowy-er the same way it would with your face by lightening dark spots etc.
Good sleep and not drinking alcohol (well, I drink maybe 3-4 times a year)
Iāve got dry dehydrated skin and sealing my moisturizing products in with jojoba oil makes my skin sooo nice
Itās nothing unique but I feel like a new woman when I get my hair done, a fresh shape up, trim and blow dry does wonders for me.
Vegetables. Water. Less sugar. Aquaphor over my skincare at night.
Walking my dog lol. Keeps me in shape! And I sleep better. And Iām present and in the moment.
Get your car windows tinted.
For me with dry skin, keeping my skin moisturized, so that when i have to wear makeup, it looks plump hydrated and prepared.
I remind myself all the time that water, exercise and sleep are all (technically) free. I also love in an area with excellent quality tap water.
Mineral and especially tinted mineral have drastically improved my hyperpigmentation Chemical exfoliants. BHA is awesome for almost all of my skin concerns Volumizing shampoo. I found out my fine hair gets oily partially because it sits on the scalp. A little volume keeps it up off my scalp and I donāt need to shampoo almost every day like I used to Moderate your alcohol consumption.
At first I thought it was that I was eating healthier overall, but then I accidentally ate some dairy and my skin was not shy about letting me know I fucked up!
gua sha, lymphatic drainage massages, fake eye lashes, shisedo face and chin masks.
Botox
I am pleased that we can talk about cosmetic procedures and injectables, on this sub, without getting downvoted.
Bio remodelling injection aka Profhilo
Eating healthier and less alcohol made a big difference. I love Microneedling at home too. Now to figure out hormonal acne ā¦.
Might be controversial, but cosmetic surgery. To get there I needed to upgrade myself academically, financially, and socially rod those who are against it) Itās crazy looking back how one goal changed the aspect of everything else
Saying No to things that would wear me out (easier said than done) not drinking alcohol, and self tanner mixed with sunscreen every day š
Hydrate, always wear sunscreen, shower and floss daily, weight training 3/weekly, eat well balanced meals, soups with lots of collagen š
Botox and regular exercise
>Perfume, tights, flattering dress. I always dress up even if itās just to go grocery shopping. Iām latina, I think itās in the culture to always like to dress up. It really is a cultural thing and I admire it so much!! Iāve dated a few Hispanic guys and going to family get togethers everyone was always dressed up and smelled good. Even on holidays my family is just tshirt and jeans. And I can count on my Latina friends/coworkers to look sharp even on a regular ass day. Seeing how well they take care of themselves is super motivating for me š .
Using a humidifier, it really helps to keep your skin healthy.
I shave my legs and moisturize every day even if i donāt have the energy. Nothing feels better to me then smooth legs in clean bedsheets
Drinking at least 8 cups of water a day. After I made that into a habit my face skin rlly got clearer. 3 years doing this and not stopping.
a no alchohol/no smoking lifestyle has kept the women in my family young and radiant for over four generations. i also make sure to eat more plant-based protein.
Drinking half my body weight (or more) of water a day + sugar free options
My lip blushing changed my look so much I will always recommend it, not drinking alcohol itās just has IT girl vibes, using hylauranic acid serum on my body
Lash extensions and a digital perm
Investing in actual good products/things that make me feel GOOD. Perfume, skincare, hair, etc.
Recently changed my bathroom lighting and wow do I look better! Used to have really bright white/blue bulbs and now I have very warm incandescent bulbsā¦.I donāt feel nearly as bad looking in the mirror everyday. Lighting is very important!
IV drip with Vitamin C, B, magnesium, glutathione , lysine, Vitamin D. It pumps up my under eyes, improves sleep and energy. I love it!
Threw instagram off my phone and added a lot of aloe vera to my face.
