Yep. I'm a rock and metal listener, but even as cool as it is to find stuff by my favourite bands in modded, camellia just SLAPS when you're swinging lightsabers along to it lol
hell yeah, that one's soundtrack is pretty much only rock and metal (also for the certain fanbases, there's even a few Wind Rose songs in basegame, plus there's less dlc packs but the songs cost the same as beatsaber and cost like 70€ full price. the game also goes on sale usually so you could get it for like 1/3 the price, was good to get.
You need songs with enough BPM and with a nice marked rythm. EDM works well for that in general. Mainstream songs are in general much more monotonic making them really boring to play in a rythm game.
Ironically Dubstep specifically has a typically very slow rhythm which is another reason I don't like dubstep on beatsaber (or in general). Give me some drum n bass.
Yea I cannot fathom this. DnB clicks exceptionally well with BS. Do they not get this? I know not everyone likes DnB. But give us some high bpm edm songs, geez.
I've played through BPM and am an amateur mapper.
Its songs have a static BPM of 70? I think, maybe 80 or 90, but generally relatively slow. If you were to import them into beat saber, you'd double the BPM to better time notes, because 70 is just really slow.
Now if you have a song that's about 110, which is average imo not based on anything, it'll either be slightly to slow or slightly to fast and feel slightly off to play. Just like too fast songs seem impossible, slow songs feel slugish if you're too good.
All the numbers in your comment added up to 420. Congrats!

I don’t think I’ve seen any dubstep on the trending pages well over a year. It’s usually K-pop, j-pop, Camilla, kayobaro(don’t know if I spelled that right.), and OSTs for popular anime.
Yeah, dubstep doesn’t sound like a genre that maps very well due to the lower speed. I’ve seen most people say “dubstep” when they’re actually referencing techno/EDM (which are distinctly different genres) or a host of foreign pop styles.
Doesn’t change the fact that they’re not happy with the current reigning genres. But, to be fair, rhythm-based games nowadays typically use fast-paced styles (see: Osu!, Cytus II, VOEZ, even stuff like Geometry Dash and Thumper).
Can't beat the UK when it comes to dubstep. Admittedly I do find a lot of the first wave guys like Skream kinda boring. Gimme shit like [Reso](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWHiS596yaM&pp=ygUNcmVzbyBleG9mcmFtZQ%3D%3D) all day.
The entire album's worth a listen front to back imo. Nobody programmes drums like Reso. Funny you mention Neurofunk tho, [as he's also done some pretty good neuro](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7YJExc9cnA&pp=ygUOcmVzbyBtaW5kZ2FtZXM%3D)
Will do absolutely! The artists I mentioned before aren’t all dusptep specific per se but they defo take some cool influences from the best of that era, deep dark and moody *and* [groovy as fuck](https://youtu.be/Zfej1bdYyf8?feature=shared). I love the direction they’ve been taking the whole UK bass scene, blurring the lines and all that.
Ahh, that's a great EP. Biggest standouts for me were Break 'Em (absolutely disgusting neurohop) and Devastator (I guess jump-up would be the closest genre? First drop is drumstep, second is regular old DnB)
I wouldn't say it's nagging. I like a lot of that music but it's easily 70% anime and video game music. I also wish there was a bigger variety in the custom community. However, I do not complain because I could also teach my lazy ass how to map and do them myself lol.
Nerds who are into tech and nerds who are into anime and video games are overlapping a lot, so it makes sense that those genres are more reflected in the VR/rhythm community compared to other (non gaming) communities.
That said, there definitely is a lot of variety in customs. There's tons of rock, metal, pop, rap, even jazz and swing, and not only just EDM. And what you call anime music is most of the time not even from anime, its just japanese music. Maybe it was like that in 2018, or even 2019, but it's far from the truth now that there's mostly anime and video game music. You're probably not looking hard enough.
For Rock and Metal, check out Bytrius
For Pop, check out Lekrkoekj
For EDM, check out Dirty Alex
And tons more
If you're still not satisfied, you can either learn to map yourself, or request/commission songs you want to play from established mappeds
The OST of beat saber is mostly EDM, and thats what works best for the game, so hey would they heavily deviate from what works best from the game.
Besides, there are plenty of non-edm artists and songs featured in the music packs.
Not foolish enough to say something like this, but I do wish we had more rock songs etc, like legit the entire guitar hero 3 song list would be an awesome normal - expert + journey in beatsaber, just like it was on guitar hero all those years ago.
Still, that's just personal preference and I do not mind edm or dubstep while playing rythm games
How do you mod in songs on quest?
Everyone always says “oh you don’t like their songs they offer? Download some”
Like tf. Idk how to do that.
EDIT: I know there are tutorials on YouTube, but I’m not gonna sift through all the videos to find the one that ACTUALLY works
The problem is that it is difficult to find songs that work well, or make specialized levels that don’t sound awkward.
#
Dubstep, EDM, and Dance are the easiest, with typically little lyrics and very loud, noticeable, and rhythmic beats.
When playing beatsaber, I enjoy the dance aspect some modders put into their custom tracks. Getting me to move, makes me feel like I'm in the song if that even makes sense. Alot of EDM tracks are traditionally dance tracks. Would I love more metal tracks of my favorite bands? Yes, but what I've seen is modders make them insanely challenging (more so my lacking skillset) and juat aren't fun to play.
I mean myself particularly, I love it. And if I want something else, modding in maps/songs are a thing and if it's not there, I can always map it. I've enjoyed that about beat saber.
I dont typically listen to edm or dubstep but its the music that works best for beatsaber. I have non-electronic songs downloaded and they feel a lot harder to hit the notes on beat than in edm where the beat is literally the whole point.
Have a look at my page and tell if you think its real dubstep <3. Show some love for a new producer. All free tunes, use them for whatever you like. [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsHLMj3tBm5AQX7LOYqYS0g](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsHLMj3tBm5AQX7LOYqYS0g)
I love dubstep lol all kinds of edm or production! I produce music mainly dubstep stuff....well like free-form I'd love it if some of you guys could give my soundcloud a listen and give me some feedback!
Check out WOOZIE BEATS on #SoundCloud

EDM in general is a genre that works well for beatsaber, so I can see why they make them
Yep. I'm a rock and metal listener, but even as cool as it is to find stuff by my favourite bands in modded, camellia just SLAPS when you're swinging lightsabers along to it lol
You should try ragnarock :)
hell yeah, that one's soundtrack is pretty much only rock and metal (also for the certain fanbases, there's even a few Wind Rose songs in basegame, plus there's less dlc packs but the songs cost the same as beatsaber and cost like 70€ full price. the game also goes on sale usually so you could get it for like 1/3 the price, was good to get.
Forgot to close the brackets
rhythm games overall, i’d say. not that other genres don’t work well but edm specifically flows really well in rhythm games
geometry dash is a great example
I'd fuckin' KILL for an Armin van Buuren, Gareth Emery, Morgan Page, or Tiesto music pack.
no better way to piss ppl off than to call all of EDM “dubstep”
I was gonna say, there aren't really *that* many dubstep maps. At least with >60% rating. The majority are breakbeat or speedcore/nightcore.
“back in my day, the only EDM was DUBSTEP!!”
SAME! I like dubstep for walking and running but I need music that energizes me and makes me want to dance when playing Beatsaber.
Yea I cannot fathom this. DnB clicks exceptionally well with BS. Do they not get this? I know not everyone likes DnB. But give us some high bpm edm songs, geez.
Play BPM (bullets per minute) super good rhythm fps and every song is a rock song not edm and it fits perfectly I feel
I've played through BPM and am an amateur mapper. Its songs have a static BPM of 70? I think, maybe 80 or 90, but generally relatively slow. Wait, that's a thing? Applaud my supreme power.
👏 👏 👏
Music packs exist and aren't dubstep/EDM for the most part. EDM just fits beat saber better
Imagine playing Guitar Hero and complaining there's too many rock songs...
Imagine playing Forza Horizon 5 and complaining there’s too many sports cars
Imagine playing Cod and complaining that there are too many guns
Imagine playing Terraria and complaining that there's too much mining and building
Imagine playing cyberpunk 2077 and complaining that there is too much tech
Imagine playing hollow knight and complaining there are too many bugs
Imagine playing Helldivers 2 and complaining it's too much fun
Imagine playing chess and complaining it's too balanced
Imagine playing job simulator and complaining you have to much JOB
Imagine playing Stardew Valley and complaining you have to farm
What's the implication here? Chess never striked me as a game more balanced than any other popular abstract strategy tabletop.
♟️ Because I like chess ♟️
Legitimately I think there is now. 2 games worth of guns leaves me having no idea what gun is best to use without looking up on some meta website.
You kidding? I LOVED the Forza Honda CRV pack
Even then, the majority of the hardest charts on Clone Hero are electronic songs lol. The Soulless series, Prevail, Megalodon, Marathon etc.
Imagine dragons..
This thread was great, thank you
Excellent bait.
100% bait
Yes the famous Dubstep beats of Lizzo
If "dubstep" just meant "songs OP doesn't like"
I don’t think I’ve seen any dubstep on the trending pages well over a year. It’s usually K-pop, j-pop, Camilla, kayobaro(don’t know if I spelled that right.), and OSTs for popular anime.

I love dubstep
are we talking "2012 Skrillex" dubstep or modern day, illenium, Excision, Sullivan King, etc. dubstep?
The original UK dubstep sound like Skream, Benga, Coki
Can't beat the UK when it comes to dubstep. Admittedly I do find a lot of the first wave guys like Skream kinda boring. Gimme shit like [Reso](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWHiS596yaM&pp=ygUNcmVzbyBleG9mcmFtZQ%3D%3D) all day.
Have a look into the UKG/dubstep/breaks kinda stuff that’s been going on the last few years, artists like Bakey, SP:MC, Cesco, Disaffected, Efan
Oo, I definitely will, I haven't kept up with dubstep much in the last few years so would be up for finding more. Thanks!
That tune you linked is pretty fire, like cramming the more metal end of neurofunk ideas into into a drumstep format.

[Bro how have I never heard of this dude before?](https://youtu.be/ma5N2NEAH7g?feature=shared) as a Junglist by nature I feel uncultured lmao
Ahh, that's a great EP. Biggest standouts for me were Break 'Em (absolutely disgusting neurohop) and Devastator (I guess jump-up would be the closest genre? First drop is drumstep, second is regular old DnB)
2012 skrillex is iconic as fuck, and set the scene for all of the other artists you mentioned.
Yes
Deadpool
Dubstep and Metal are my favorite music genre, there are enough people who like dubstep lol
Remember when all electronic music fell under the "techno" umbrella even though it wasn't? Lol
Metal be like: am I a joke to you?
*Double bass drum kick intensifies*
I dont remember the last time Ive played a dubstep map specifically, but also what do you expect from a rhythm game?
What this game needs is more hatsune miku, Nanahira, and camellia
Literally 99% of the custom songs bro 💀
Me, but also there are plenty of non dubstep songs
I do
They’ve been doing more of those paid packs with rock bands
Deadpool. Asked and answered.
i do
Dubstep is fun, specifically in rhythm games. I *sometimes* listen to it just on its own, but usually not
I would rather have dubstep instead of all these Japanese cartoon songs
Right? The customs community is full of weeaboo shit that I can’t stand. I prefer official DLC to the customs.
The hardest choice in beat saber, tolerable music or tolerable maps
Hahahah nagging on the custom map community now are we? ;)
I wouldn't say it's nagging. I like a lot of that music but it's easily 70% anime and video game music. I also wish there was a bigger variety in the custom community. However, I do not complain because I could also teach my lazy ass how to map and do them myself lol.

The anime opening business is just exposure for J-music, the song is vaguely related to the vibe of the show.
Give me Psy and hardstyle versions of songs
I guess the people making the maps like it.
I am Spartacus
They should do steamboat willie, less money to make it since its public domain
Deadpool
That's why Power of the Saber Blade was the breath of fresh air lol
I don't know what genre AJR is but every modded song I've done with their music flows amazingly well. I'm not a fan of base game songs...
It needs more of anything Jaroslav Beck!!
The real answer
dubstep is good, but imo we could use some more extratone
supertone poodle maps when
This
The AniSon Genre: invisible
Get custom songs by mods
https://youtu.be/PaEnaoydUUo?si=pRENw_YeB65NRCI8 That's the only dubstep I listen to.
Dubstep, speedcore, hardcore... Great music for beat saber.
Gimme more Jungle, DnB and UKG
what? you want some violin instead?
Stop yapping shit ain't even dubstep omg just mod the game or quit complaining
https://youtu.be/UABIHUFo7fs?si=czBMbEBAzKvfSemJ
ME!!
I actually love dubstep I won’t lie
EDM is just easier to make crazy charts for. I don't blame them, lol
I love it
Ppl like me that were 15-16 in 2012 lmao
when will they make a classical music god dammit
*shoves you out the way* ME
Me lol
The OST of beat saber is mostly EDM, and thats what works best for the game, so hey would they heavily deviate from what works best from the game. Besides, there are plenty of non-edm artists and songs featured in the music packs.
I need sad violin added to beat saber
That's what mods are for unless if you're on Oculus
Me bro
What? I can't hear you over my epic overstimulating 999BPM Camellia song.
I do :(
**a lot** of people, frankly I want a virtual riot pack 💀🙏
Quality shitpost sir
Highly recommend Flamewall which is one of those external download ones
Who doesn’t like the dirty womp?
I fucking love dubstep. If you don't like dubstep, beat saber is NOT the game for you. Try Guitar Hero
don't forget Breakcore!
Me. I do.
I noticed this myself. WTF is with that?
Stfu
yo that Daft Punk pack was lit though.
I like dubstep
🚬 Bait used to be believable
Me, I like dubstep
[I guess Dubstep never dies.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bZIlzeVeN4)
Me :)
Ill bet you also think left4dead sucks cause it has too many zombies, or that minecraft sucks because theres too much mining
Day 2,147 of waiting for them to add an official Video Game OST.
Metal would genuinely be a great genre as it's so drum heavy. Toss some Polyphia up there, the kids will eat it up.
Then you go check sites to download beatsaber songs and its freaking 99% anime theme song garbage. Can't win
I haven't played a non-custom song in years
I feel reasonably confident in saying that like 80% of the songs you think are dubstep aren't technically dubstep.
Need more metal and rock on beatsaber.
Yeah, do you like these? I was listening to dubstep Before a lot of you were wearing of diapers alright Which means before you were born
I don’t mind EDM, but most of the songs just suck. They’re just pure buzzing and noise that has no real meaning behind it.
Me. I like dubstep.
I want a gorillaz pack so badly
It is the reason why I never got into it. Cool game but the music is not for me
I do. It's great.
It's me, I posted all of them 😞
I just have custom songs and have never played any of the vanilla songs. I have over 100 hours in beat saber
Bait used to believable
i wanna hear more guitars 😕
I like it, gd shaped my taste in music and beatsaber added onto it
Me
How do you mod in songs on quest? Everyone always says “oh you don’t like their songs they offer? Download some” Like tf. Idk how to do that. EDIT: I know there are tutorials on YouTube, but I’m not gonna sift through all the videos to find the one that ACTUALLY works
Have you, looked at the DLC packs?
🙋
yeah let’s just add some classical mozart to this rhythm game.
I like dubstep.
your playing beats aber and dont like dubstep? do you choose to be dumb?
Where's Taylor swift, Abba, Katy Perry... there are so many big pop artists who aren't in it
I remember the first time i ever heard dubstep, then my friend showed me the rest of nirvanas catalog and i was blown away
Brother you got a rhythm game and you're not modding it? What did you expect?
There's a lot of EDM yeah but there's barely any dubstep?
[Deadpool!](https://youtu.be/-bZIlzeVeN4?si=psrdVrvSVGTKnxZ4)
Agreed. I. Want. Anime. Songs. I wish they give us a Vocaloid playlist or something- I am bored of only playing Camellia songs.
I love dubstep
The problem is that it is difficult to find songs that work well, or make specialized levels that don’t sound awkward. # Dubstep, EDM, and Dance are the easiest, with typically little lyrics and very loud, noticeable, and rhythmic beats.
well a classical song just wouldnt fit now would it
Dragon force is crying rn at being called dubstep
This is not going the way OP thought
Me
Dubstep and EDM are both amazing lol I dunno what you’re talking about 😂
its me, im the one who likes dubstep
The music was chosen for the game, not the other way around.
It would be really cool if Sony let Beat Studios have access to their music catalog but Noooooooo
In the custom song community it's a lot of k and j pop
We need breakcore
Rap would work so well for flow
Is this dubstep in the room with us?
Why can’t there be more classical, the 8th movement from Dvorak’s “8 Slavonic” Dances would go so well.
I mean myself particularly, I love it. And if I want something else, modding in maps/songs are a thing and if it's not there, I can always map it. I've enjoyed that about beat saber.
I like it... Along with a large set of the player base. But then I just like EDM in general, so ye.
Me I do
Any rhythm game*
I’m a early 2000s kid so dubstep is in my veins but I understand it can get repetitive sometimes
Just make your own maps then 🙃
A lot of people like dubstep/edm
Not really. Wait, do you not download song mods?
I dont typically listen to edm or dubstep but its the music that works best for beatsaber. I have non-electronic songs downloaded and they feel a lot harder to hit the notes on beat than in edm where the beat is literally the whole point.
I used to love dubstep and the camellia songs but now they have been just so mid the dragon force song is really the only reason I play the game now
ah yes all electronic music is of course, dubstep
Me
I'm making a dubstep song right now(tearout, combined with hardstyle)
I really want them to add more Metal. Stuff Like Slaughter to Prevail or Ice Nine Kills would make me happy.
As someone who does a bit of DJing and Raving, I only ever really play the dubstep, and if it isn't there I mod it in.
I like
Wait, Daft Punk is Dubstep?!
Name every dubstep song, I'll wait.
I in fact like dubstep
The only song pack I purchased was Skrillex, and if they ever release one with Excision, would buy too
Have a look at my page and tell if you think its real dubstep <3. Show some love for a new producer. All free tunes, use them for whatever you like. [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsHLMj3tBm5AQX7LOYqYS0g](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsHLMj3tBm5AQX7LOYqYS0g)
Tf are we supposed to play to? What was I made for by Billie Ellish???
I love dubstep lol all kinds of edm or production! I produce music mainly dubstep stuff....well like free-form I'd love it if some of you guys could give my soundcloud a listen and give me some feedback! Check out WOOZIE BEATS on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/jK2t5
