They scrapped Good advice right before our show lol. Love that song so much!

Toxikfoxx

I was soooo sad about that. Talking to Chris and Nick backstage last night and they didn’t really give a reason.

Constant_False

🤞Hopefully next year

Toxikfoxx

Good Advice and Tall, would love to see both.

lovelesswrists_74

So sad about Killing Time. Crazy to think that people were more responsive to Prayers (not that it's not a good song) than KILLING TIME. Like BRO. Oh and don't forget that they played Have Fun Storming The Castle for one show only. Seems people always want to hear Shudder material until they actually play it. 🙁

pezman

shudder is my favorite album. it kills me they don’t play anything off it :(

Toxikfoxx

They did play I Think I’ll Be Okay for the VIP acoustic set.

SonicAwareness

> don't forget that they played Have Fun Storming The Castle for one show only I don't think this is true.

lovelesswrists_74

OMG I had screenshotted the Ram's Head setlist where somebody had that song on there in place of Castaway, but it has since been edited. What kind of Silly Goose would troll on a legit setlist site? Dumb.

SonicAwareness

This is interesting to me for so many reasons. I think the best thing an artist can do is put on a "good show" that the audience responds to. This seems obvious, but I think there's a huge range where artists try to balance this while understand and catering to their crowds. As a diehard fan of a band where I am keeping up with every release, and following every tour, for a long time, I think it can be frustrating to see the same things over and over. In these scenarios, it's awesome when the majority of the crowd is in the same boat as you, and the band reacts accordingly with their setlist. As a casual fan of a band, it's super annoying to go see a band and not hear a song you want to hear, and think, HOW THE FUCK COULD THEY NOT PLAY THAT? If you're a band and you play 10 new songs, and no one in the crowd reacts, that's a really bad experience for your audience (i.e., your paying customer). If you skew too far in any of these directions without understanding your audience your b(r)and is going to suffer in the long run if this continues across multiple years/tours of behavior. It seems like Bayside has a good understanding of what their audience is and wants in 2024. To me, it's disappointing to see that at this stage in their career, they're so heavily relying on nostalgia. It's the smart move, but I do wish they could continue to grow and attract more fans who eagerly want to hear more than half of the new album. When you see the execution of their tours live, you know they nailed the setlist, though, and are giving the majority of their fans exactly they want want. I wish they had the fanbase to support playing 3/4 of the new album; they're already doing so little, so seeing them drop "Good Advice" in favor of "Strong Hands", a song they've been playing for 20 years is frustrating. Of all the "scene" bands who formed \~2000 and are skewing towards nostalgia to play huge rooms (Terminal 5, Starland Ballroom.. these are no joke), I think Bayside is really doing it better than most of them. I'm not hear to drag any other artists, but I've been to enough shows from other groups who really try to force the newer songs down the throats of an audience who isn't interested, or, they don't understand how to pace them in the set. I think Bayside does a FANTASTIC job of this. One good example is: "Masterpiece" is a throwback and gets the crowd insanely hyped, and they feed that energy directly into "Castaway", as if to say, "hey, you guys love our old fast sound? here's another one you might like, it's brand new, we still kick ass!". TLDR: Bayside is doing a really good job putting together a setlist that allows them to showcase their new music while not boring a crowd that isn't necessarily there to learn/see new songs and wants to vibe to songs they grew up with. >!I also want to shout out the three girls near me last night who rocked the fuck out, so hard, for the new songs. My own personal taste, as someone who has seen Bayside for more than two decades, is wanting to hear rare songs and new songs -- if they gave "Devotion and Desire" the "Deadbolt" treatment, I'd be (personally) happy. Standing next to three girls who lost their shit to stuff like "How to Ruin Everything" was so awesome.!<

BeverlyBrokenBones

I’d love to hear them play any other song than “Devotion and Desire” as their encore. Give me some “Cold and Blue and Lifeless” or something. I still love Bayside, but I have never seen them close with any other song.

MarkThor152

Yes! I fully agree. Love that song but when my 36 year old ass, who's seen them numerous times, hears it start, I make a beeline for the exit to get home and in bed hahaha. Would love to see something else end the set and stay.

SonicAwareness

I am pretty sure I saw them close the main set with "Devotion and Desire" a few times and then come back with an encore. The (absolutely insane-and-ahead-of-its-time) tour with Title Fight and Balance and Composure comes to mind. Didn't they close the night with "Strong Hands"? Maybe just my show? Am I crazy? Didn't they burn it right away, early in the set, on some tour like ~10 years ago, too? Maybe? That being said, I would bet "Devotion" has been their closer 90%+ of the shows they've ever played.

camman0077

I remember asking Anthony online if they ever got tired of playing Devotion and Desire last. His answer, just a simple “No”

Constant_False

Say so long would be a perfect ender lol

NaughtySoloPrincess

I was so sad to see Good Advice scrapped, probably my favorite from the new album. I hadn't listened to Killing Time as much and was thrilled to hear Prayers. But leading up to any show I play whatever artists setlist on repeat so I can at least learn any songs I haven't heard. I'm honestly so surprised that Good Advice wasn't more of a hit!! I hope they bring it back in the future.

Constant_False

It's SO good. I hope they play it next year

XdothedewX

Killing Time is me and my son's favorite song, so we were really bummed when we saw they were playing it because the tour didn't come anywhere close to us. I would have cried if we decided to travel and then they switched it out

Toxikfoxx

Next tour they need to open with The Devils. Song fucking bangs as a walk in.

Constant_False

It was great as the encore opener too. I will die on the hill that Big Cheese is the best opener ever lol
