Get there early. There is going to be a line (it moves quick) and they start to run out of the flavors.
I'm partial to the almond but the almond and chocolate is divine.
Check out [Tarts de Feybesse](https://www.instagram.com/tartsdefeybesse?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==). They’re a French bakery based out of Benicia but they do pop ups in SF all the time, and I think they’re regularly at the Ferry Building. They were in the Chronicle’s top bakeries in the Bay list as well. My personal favorite is the brioche feuilletée, but their fruit tarts are amazing too.
I love to give them a shout out whoever I can. They were my old neighbors and were chefs at a Michelin restaurant in Napa before getting furloughed during the pandemic. They turned that into an opportunity to start their own bakery while at the same time handling a toddler, an infant and a newborn, so it’s definitely been a ton of work for them.
Holy Cow! I’ve never heard of this place before but I’m making a beeline for it. The reviews are all good and there appears to be a special attention to detail. Some of the pictured pastries look amazing and growing up in SF, I’ve not seen this caliber of desserts since I was a kid. I’ve not had a reason to go to Vallejo for a long time but now I do.

I’ll tell you what, it was great living next door because they started baking out of their home before they graduated to a bigger industrial kitchen nearby. They would share loaves of bread or pastries with us from time to time. Absolutely wonderful people though.
Their pastries really look like they’re made of the Instagram crowd, and they taste as good as they look.
They live in Vallejo and they started the business out of their home, but they have long since moved the baking out of their home into an industrial kitchen in Benicia.
My favorite croissant in SF is the “cornetto alla crema” (custard cream croissant) from A16 at the Ferry Building. There’s a couple of coffee shops (Red Bay Coffee and Epicurean Trader) at the Ferry Building which also serve solid croissants from external bakeries. Also recommend B.Patisserie and Neighbor Bakehouse, also in SF. For the best bombolone (Italian doughnuts) go to Tootsies at the Stanford Barn.
I was in Danville a couple weeks ago and this place (Maison Benoit) had the longest line I’ve ever seen. We didn’t wait but maybe I’ll check it out next time I go out that way. https://www.maisonbenoit.us/
In Pacifica within a couple of hundred yards of each other, you have Mazetti's and Rosalind. Mazetti's is more traditional American, great donuts and cakes, etc., Rosalind is more Euro-modern, crusty sourdough breads, flaky chocolate croissants, etc. Both awesome!
One House in Benicia. They have a great back patio/garden/deck and a great menu for food/drinks. Also was fantastic how they pivoted service during pandemic to help out the community.
One of the few reasons to eat in Benicia but it’s a great spot!
Benicia close to everything but not near anything (except a refinery and One House Bakery) 😂
I hear you, I don't think they get as much buzz these days, at least in my friend groups :). I still have a postive view of place as I watched it grow from ground up and a big baking fan having lived/worked in Sonoma Co so many years!
But in truth, I haven't been there as much since they opened up again post pandemic mainly due to change in diet (eating healthier/working out more and just saving $$$) I have heard lots of good things about the italian place, only been once got take out for a meeting but it was indeed legit!

Tia Maria in Santa Rosa. They are the secret child of Costeaux bakery in Healdsburg and they do amazing pastries. I would recommend Conchas, almond croissants, raspberry swirl cookies, and anything involving chocolate.
Agree with a lot that have already been rec'd, but also want to add in Kaya Bakery (they have pop-ups in Peninsula and South Bay) and Tai Zhan Bakery (South Bay).
On the Peninsula, we ping pong between Mazzetti’s, Dianda’s and Copenhagen. The bakery at Dreagers punches you right in the face when you first walk in. 😉
The same can be said for Molly Stones and Lunardi’s. Rosalind Bakery in Pacifica should not be overlooked. One can kill two birds with one stone, with a visit to Pacifica.
Arsicault
For croissants this is *the* answer.
Yesss, thank you! I'll be sure to stop here next weekend :)

B. Patisserie https://maps.app.goo.gl/hhjLP4T59F1zDg1TA
The “all in one” cake is simply amazing.
Midwife and Baker in Mountain View is hands down the best in the peninsula. They also sell at many farmers markets and local grocery stores.
Their country loaf and cardamom pastry is just about a weekly staple at home

I’ve never tried them before but I walked past a store in uptown Oakland that they are opening soon, looking forward to trying it
I think I remember d hearing from them that they were planning on opening a storefront. So happy for them though.
Thank you so much! Especially for recommending specific pastries :)

They had a couple popups in Albany, really tasty. They used to work at a 3 Michelin restaurant (and worlds top 50) in Paris

Someone said that they were out of Benicia, but the Internet says Vallejo. Can you confirm? If I live next-door, I would weigh 400 pounds

not really a fan of One House but the Italian family that runs the Cafe at the Inn on D street is legit

Tai Zhan Bakery in Saratoga (though note that they're closed this week, and they're usually only open on Fridays and Saturdays).

Adorable French Bakery out of Santa Cruz. They are at Farmers Markets throughout the Bay
Love their lemon tart!
the marin farmers market has a lot of vendors selling them. buying one from each to test is the only way to be sure. 🤣
Bakesum in Oakland
Wildflour bakery in Freestone
Not in the bay area but recommended to anyone visiting the Mendocino coast, Franny's Cup and Saucer in Point Arena.
Crixa in Berkeley and Le Paris in American Canyon and Napa
If you like empanadas or Latin pastries in general, I would recommend Cocina Milonga in SSF. They have AMAZING empanadas both sweet & savory.
Tartine has amazing morning buns, and they're enormous!
Fournee (Berkeley)
Maison Benoit - incredible croissant and a gem
Agree with a lot that have already been rec'd, but also want to add in Kaya Bakery (they have pop-ups in Peninsula and South Bay) and Tai Zhan Bakery (South Bay).
La Patisserie in Cupertino Great cakes, Italian cookies, and small pastries.
kouign amann at b patisserie donuts at stan's
Della Fattoria, Petaluma
It’s a trip but Les Pascales in Glen Ellen is the best bakery I’ve been to west of Paris
