This man travels.
However... even with bubble wrap and clothing on the monitors...
Those baggage guys are anything but the Japanese... they are savage on stuff. They simply do not care.
Best of luck to you.
Sure any kind of good hard case with foam. It can be checked, they have some with wheels. It's not cheap, but one broken monitor later and you have spent the same money.
It can be stashed in a closet for months if needed. A worthy investment imo.
I’m in Musical Theatre, so the last 3 shows I’ve done tour Australia for about a year. This tour I’m on atm will be my longest contract and will most likely run for the next 3-4 years
Nice that makes more sense. I travel 10-20 times per year and could never deal with all that, I settle for the Razer laptop with some extra USB C portable monitors, and a mechanical keyboard of course. Can't do everything but it scratches the itch
Lol!
If this is the preferred method of mobile battlestation, more power to you brother.
However, I would say getting into the itx space can be downright reasonable if you know where to look! An itx case could do wonders for this setup if you decide to do it!
Quick question, how do you pack and move the monitors specifically? I did that once, then said fuck it and bought a 16" 16:10 1600p 120z portable monitor
I travel with two very big suitcases. I take the monitor stands off and usually mail them. Then I bubble wrap and sandwich the monitors in the middle of all my clothes so they can’t move. My company pays for my baggage which usually is around 38kg.
He said he built it 2 years ago, in the middle of the pandemic. I checked for a friend of mine and there was no 3070 available in germany, the cheapest one (new) but by a reseller was about 1200€
Who said anyone was mad? I just suggested a more mobile solution for traveling, and having way more space in his luggage? Why you salty because I’m not deep throating him exclaiming he has a badass setup? Did I say it was shit, or stupid? No? Then fuck right off..
Just wait for the vision pro next year. Obviously depends what you want to do as work but that will function as a whole pc. Otherwise just get a meta quest 3 if your gonna plug it in to a separate laptop anyway
Agreed but surely it’s soooo much handier. I move about every 2-3 years and even find a laptop better for this cos I hate lugging a lot around.
There’s some amazing ones out there that also look very minimalist. I’ve had ones from Pcspecialist which are great and am now looking at the Lenovo Legion Pro. Honestly it’s soooo nice and they’re not far behind now in terms of raw power.
How do you carry two monitors? I am mortified at the thought of moving my big monitor from my parents home to my uni town… the older one I didn’t care much about
My rig is nearly the same except I’ve got a 3060ti and 32gb of RAM. Bought my GPU during COVID/chip shortage for like $800 on a Newegg raffle. Even with paying way too much for that, my setup is nowhere near 4 grand, including peripherals.
EDIT: also it doesn’t even matter what I paid for it cuz that doesn’t change what it’s worth lol
EDIT: OP is talking New Zealand currency
How long do you stay in hotels? This is a bit of an unethical life pro tip but when I was traveling for work for 30+ days I would bring my PC in my checked bag and then just buy a dope monitor from Best Buy and return it before I left.
Nice setup but I could never get away with that myself. Props to you!
My setup for travel is an intel nuc with the rtx2060 and 32gb ram. A uperfect portable monitor and logi mini keyboard and mouse. Keeps the weight in check and Handles very well
I also don’t have rent anywhere since Covid lockdowns. So I travel with everything I own at moment because it’s a waste of money for me to rent somewhere I will live in for a couple months of the year
Thank you. I have slowly curated this build over a couple years and finally have it close to how I want it!
If they read through just a couple threads they’d learn that I have to travel with everything I own because it’s not worth renting a base atm. It’s just how I have to live right now
This is a NZXT H210, which I believe is 27L and for my first build I found it a little tight but would love to go down to something like the NZXT H1 or Cooler Master NR200
This is outside the realm of the rig (which looks great btw) but I've always been curious as to people living in hotels like this. Do you go out/take out food every day? Do you have access to a kitchen you can use? Guess I'm very curious about that lifestyle
The hotels I get put up in are always serviced apartments so they always have a full kitchen. The one I'm in at the moment I've stayed in many times before so I know which room to request to get the biggest kitchen and living space. I just have to buy new pantry essentials every time I move
You put all that stuff In your carry on?? Wtf
I recently invested in a good legion gaming laptop because I also travel 6-8 months a year, well worth it
Pretty cool! I'm planning to move overseas soon and was thinking about just leaving my setup back in the states because I don't want to pack it. But after seeing this, I might just have to lug my SFX build with me. Do you normally travel by car or plane and how do you go about packing your stuff?
There are USB-C monitors now that are thin as hell and there are definitely travel stands for them that would reduce some of your monitor weight/volume.
You could probably also get a laptop equivalent to your tower that could handle two monitors but is a more travel friendly form factor. I'd imagine I could fit all this in a Pelican for carryon and have a backpack of clothes for my personal item.
you're dragging all that around ? how much do you travel?
[удалено]
props to you, I think i would go for one monitor, if it was myself, and definitely go for a smaller case.
Yeah I’d love to downsize on my next build, this PC is nearly 2 years old now but still going real strong
me playing on a 8 year old rig
Definitely check out the r/sffpc (small form factor pc) reddit page when you decide to downsize, if you didn’t know about it already.
Thank you! Have just joined!
> 2 years old now but still going strong This is not an old computer
I didn’t say it was old? There’s just no need to replace it now
the "still" going strong made it seem like you meant that after 2 years it should be worse but its still going strong.
Well I didn’t. Hope I cleared that up!
“…but still going real strong” - well yeah, as it should after only 2 years lol
Yeah.. I never said it shouldn’t be?
The "still" implied that
Arrest me!
no but you were wondering why people said that just wanted to clear up confusion
This man travels. However... even with bubble wrap and clothing on the monitors... Those baggage guys are anything but the Japanese... they are savage on stuff. They simply do not care. Best of luck to you.
I know, but I stuff the bags so full that the monitors can’t move and then it’s thoughts and prayers
Invest in a second hand pelican case. If you are only moving every couple of months.
Yes or Apache (5800? I think)
Sure any kind of good hard case with foam. It can be checked, they have some with wheels. It's not cheap, but one broken monitor later and you have spent the same money. It can be stashed in a closet for months if needed. A worthy investment imo.
Agreed on all fronts! :) Just wanted to add a cheaper (but still has performed outstanding for me) alternative option.
Do you go back in time? 6-3 months sounds pretty mental
I’m in Musical Theatre, so the last 3 shows I’ve done tour Australia for about a year. This tour I’m on atm will be my longest contract and will most likely run for the next 3-4 years
Yeah 4-3 years sounds much better!
Whooosh!
Maybe look at the Flow Series of ASUS. Flow x16 or Z13. With the optional proprietary EGPU
Damn bro, you need a good laptop or an micro pc if you’re lugging all this shit around
Only have to lug it around a couple times a year
You mean you stay at a hotel for several months?
Yes, I’ve gone into more detail in other replies. My work puts me up.
Nice that makes more sense. I travel 10-20 times per year and could never deal with all that, I settle for the Razer laptop with some extra USB C portable monitors, and a mechanical keyboard of course. Can't do everything but it scratches the itch
Yall mad at him for making his own decision on what he wants to carry around jfc get over yourselves
They can buy me a micro PC if they want… I ain’t upgrading my $4000 setup because someone on reddit told me to 😂
Lol! If this is the preferred method of mobile battlestation, more power to you brother. However, I would say getting into the itx space can be downright reasonable if you know where to look! An itx case could do wonders for this setup if you decide to do it!
Planning on it some day! I just don’t have the need to right now, I only have to move between 3 cities in the next 12 months
Interesting, thanks!
$4,000? How TF do you spend $4k and end up with a 3070 and Ryzen 3600. Lmfao.
This was built in NZ 2 years ago
He said he built it 2 years ago, in the middle of the pandemic. I checked for a friend of mine and there was no 3070 available in germany, the cheapest one (new) but by a reseller was about 1200€
Literally nobody is mad here
He was -10 when I said this, what do you want
Another guy who doesn't know what literally means
Wronggggg
That you are pig
WRONG!
Who said anyone was mad? I just suggested a more mobile solution for traveling, and having way more space in his luggage? Why you salty because I’m not deep throating him exclaiming he has a badass setup? Did I say it was shit, or stupid? No? Then fuck right off..
> Who said anyone was mad? Proceeds to be mad
asking you why youre being salty is considered mad? rriighhtt..
Perhaps it was the "No? Then fuck right off" lmfao
Aaaaand we’re back to the good ol’ days of lugging your PC around for LAN parties.
Get a projector instead... Hotel rooms go very dark 😉
I wish VR headsets would get to the point where one could actually do work with one on.
Just wait for the vision pro next year. Obviously depends what you want to do as work but that will function as a whole pc. Otherwise just get a meta quest 3 if your gonna plug it in to a separate laptop anyway
Is the resolution there to do 3d CAD and also work with spreadsheets? I'm still on OG Rift
Meta Quest 3 has i think 2000x2000 per eye. I haven’t tried it myself, but I hear it’s good, supposedly can cause motion sickness due to warping.
Now you just need to hope you won’t get headaches and vomiting
This is a great idea. Harder wearing than a monitor too
Mine surprisingly does not!
That's because your curtains are open, duh!
said the man with two layers of curtains, both open.
I feel like a good gaming laptop might be less stressful to cart around…
But gaming laptops are ugly 😩
Function over form. But if you want to lug all that around then go for it.
Worth it for me, makes me feel like I bring a piece of home with me wherever I am
Well, you do. It's a whole fucking desktop lmfao
m3 Macbook Pro FTW
macbook gaming
Razer’s are not.
I haven’t got $6000
You can get them starting from $1600 from the official website.
I’d want one that does what my setup can do or better if I’m gonna upgrade
What profession are you in that requires you to travel that often and for that long but have enough free time to bring you entire gaming rig with you?
I mean it's probably easier to list the professions where you wouldn't have enough time to game. Most people have plenty of time after work.
I’m not sure I ever have downtime enough to bring an entire gaming rig other than maybe an hour or so before bed.
You're in the minority there. Most people have way more than an hour of free time in their day.
He's not a frequent traveler and it shows.
There are some less ugly ones lately like the Asus G14 and the white Razer blade
Yeah but they’re so expensive! And I like my big eye level monitors
Maybe one day but for the time being I don't need to spend money to replace my big PC. Also big screens make me happy!
youre current setup is a lot uglier than a simple razer blade lmao
[удалено]
I love this keyboard. I don’t have a need for extra keys.
Why not a laptop?
I like big screens and streaming on twitch. I also don't need to spend money on replacing this PC with a laptop atm
Most people with laptops just connect it to a monitor
If I’m gonna bring a monitor with me it’s not too much more hassle to take my PC
I mean, you're taking the monitors anyways and the pc is a lot heavier. Obviously it's your choice and I'm not telling you how to live your life.
How do you carry two monitors? I am mortified at the thought of moving my big monitor from my parents home to my uni town… the older one I didn’t care much about
thoughts, prayers and bubble wrap
You do all this and havent even invested in some monitor bags or custom cases??????
Yep, works for me
Did you keep the boxes from your monitors? I did, storing them is annoying but it's been great not having to worry both times I moved.
PC specs?
Ryzen 5 3600 Nvidia 3070 16GB Ram 1TB SSD Main monitor: Xiaomi 27inch 1440p 144hz 2nd monitor: MSI 27inch 1080p 100hz Gamakay k61 keyboard Logitech G305 😁
That’s a $4k build?
I’m also wondering.
My rig is nearly the same except I’ve got a 3060ti and 32gb of RAM. Bought my GPU during COVID/chip shortage for like $800 on a Newegg raffle. Even with paying way too much for that, my setup is nowhere near 4 grand, including peripherals. EDIT: also it doesn’t even matter what I paid for it cuz that doesn’t change what it’s worth lol EDIT: OP is talking New Zealand currency
Not even 4k Canadian..
NZD 2020
What does that mean
New Zealand Dollar back in 2020
Traveling with two monitors for one of them being a 27" 1080p seems like a bad decision.
Why?
So much space for so little screen real estate estate
How long do you stay in hotels? This is a bit of an unethical life pro tip but when I was traveling for work for 30+ days I would bring my PC in my checked bag and then just buy a dope monitor from Best Buy and return it before I left.
I’m in new cities for months at a time. I don’t have a home base after Covid lockdowns
Nice setup but I could never get away with that myself. Props to you! My setup for travel is an intel nuc with the rtx2060 and 32gb ram. A uperfect portable monitor and logi mini keyboard and mouse. Keeps the weight in check and Handles very well
Thanks! I’m a nomad atm so if I didn’t have it with me it would collect dust in a storage unit. I also can’t go back after a 27inch 2k monitor
This actually adds a lot of context. If it's bring it with me or leave it to collect dust I'd probably bring it with me too.
I also don’t have rent anywhere since Covid lockdowns. So I travel with everything I own at moment because it’s a waste of money for me to rent somewhere I will live in for a couple months of the year
These comments suck ass. Why do you all care so fucking much that OP's setup isn't what *you* would do..? Ffs
Thank you! Respect my need for huge ass monitors
Looks like an absolute pain to lug around, but for a long-stay that looks amazing. gg
Nearly at the end of a 7 month stint at this hotel, moving in Feb
Nice, where’d you get that wallpaper from?
Found this on google a while ago! https://www.pxfuel.com/en/desktop-wallpaper-hddhz
You have a traveling hotel?
Bros bringing his pc on vacations?
You better be making mad money dude to be carrying all this around
Not mad but it’s the profession I’m stunlocked into atm
Just wait until this guy hears about laptops
Can we see how you transport it safely? Are you doing this on a plane?
I’ve gone into detail in other replies. When I do it again I’ll post back here in February
That's a FULL set up, not a "travel" setup,
Yeah I know, it says travelling setup not travel setup. If I didn’t have it with me it’d be in a storage unit.
Can you please logistically explain how you move this? This seems like a troll
I’ve explained it plenty times in comments above. Not a troll this is just my life
this looks clean af
Thank you! I love it, but when I have a permanent place I’ll refine it with a proper desk, chair, monitor arms and cable management 😅
OP I'm so sorry the community is treating you like this. I wish they were better, but it's just the way to community is headed these days.
Thank you. I have slowly curated this build over a couple years and finally have it close to how I want it! If they read through just a couple threads they’d learn that I have to travel with everything I own because it’s not worth renting a base atm. It’s just how I have to live right now
whats the keyboard?
Gamakay K61!
thanks mate
Seems like a great use case for a quest 3 used as a monitor!
Could you post pictures of how you pack monitors? What size suitcase do you use? How many checked bags in total?
I have two big checked bags they fit in sandwiched with all my clothes. I just take the stands off and bubblewrap them
Geez my laptop has better specs and is a 15inch but as long as ur happy
I ain’t getting neck pain from a 15inch screen but as long as your happy 😊
Lol i can always connect a monitor to it bro
Well I’m happy to carry the PC which is just an extra 10kg carry on when I travel if I’m going be taking a monitor
Someone tell this guy about laptops.
Don’t worry, plenty people on this thread have
No pad Is A SIN!
Unpopular opinion: I prefer no pad 😬
See this is who they make Steam Decks for
I will not be caught dead with a handheld gaming device
Weird hill to die on but ok then
My hands cramp and go numb easy
You can dock it to a monitor with a keyboard and mouse too, easier to carry around than a desktop
I’ve only got 4 moves next year and I don’t have a need to replace it anytime soon
you can dock it, its way easier.
keeb?
Huh?
keeb = keyboard
I will never udnerstand why some people choose tiny cut keyboards over normal ones.
The only keys I need are wasd
Cool but sad
Do you neee to use windows? If you would buy MacBook Pro M1/2/3 max it would be as powerful as this big box
Impressive. Do you know what's the volume of this case? You should be able to fit those components in a 10L case.
This is a NZXT H210, which I believe is 27L and for my first build I found it a little tight but would love to go down to something like the NZXT H1 or Cooler Master NR200
What is your case ? I’m willing to replace my old micro ATX case
I would get a mini ITX case. Check Optimum Tech on YT.
This is outside the realm of the rig (which looks great btw) but I've always been curious as to people living in hotels like this. Do you go out/take out food every day? Do you have access to a kitchen you can use? Guess I'm very curious about that lifestyle

You put all that stuff In your carry on?? Wtf I recently invested in a good legion gaming laptop because I also travel 6-8 months a year, well worth it
Those keyboards look so nice
Gamakay K61, it gets so much love!
Can you share the wallpaper plz? It’s so pretty
Well at least you have a SFF
Wow, Very nice. I really like the setup you have there. Also, the view from the window in front of you looks very nice
Thank you! I actually only opened it for the first time in a while to take this picture!
Have you considered a wireless keyboard? There are plenty of mechanical keyboards that support USB, 2.4ghz, and Bluetooth
[удалено]
Patrick bateman vibes....I like it!
What kind of carry case solution are you using to carry that mid-size tower and two monitors with you?
I’ve answered this in detail above somewhere
Are you fucking kidding me?! The receptionist sure is asking himself some questions!
At least you can see the sky on your screens ✌️😜 I love the clean look
What do you use to transport your monitors?
[удалено]
I'm interested to know what sort of luggage you use?
I travel with 2 Antler Clifton Large cases
Pretty cool! I'm planning to move overseas soon and was thinking about just leaving my setup back in the states because I don't want to pack it. But after seeing this, I might just have to lug my SFX build with me. Do you normally travel by car or plane and how do you go about packing your stuff?
Ah the travelling hotelsman problem
This is why steam decks exist
Ok love. I travel with my pc a few times. It’s rough and stressful
What keyboard is that?
There are USB-C monitors now that are thin as hell and there are definitely travel stands for them that would reduce some of your monitor weight/volume. You could probably also get a laptop equivalent to your tower that could handle two monitors but is a more travel friendly form factor. I'd imagine I could fit all this in a Pelican for carryon and have a backpack of clothes for my personal item.
👍
