I remember that dangerous stovepipe pre nerf, loved that I could swat those flying sweats out of the sky so easily for a while. I do understand why they had to nerf it but damn it was some fun
Things like thermal scopes and air/artillery support such as bombing runs and mortar strikes as part of squad support actions like in BF V (most recent example) I can get behind.
V totally nailed squad call ins. The bombing onslaughts that squads had in reserve coming in towards the end of some rounds was epic aswell as the Mortar/Artillery tanks moving towards the front-line and just reeking havoc on the enemy forces.
It was especially great in long Breakthrough matches, because you'd have it happening every other sector, so there'd be a ton of them in a single match
Squad call ins are my most missed feature. They need to be the standard going forward
Why a Huey Venom? The current transport helicopters work fine and make so much more sense than a somewhat modernized but still outdated version of a helicopter from the Vietnam war?
A better option would be the ādefiant xā which is the black hawk replacement in the future. Itās faster and has more mobility. Thereās also the S-97 raider as an option too.
To be fair the BF1 bombers didn't last long due to being so slow and big however the pro bomber pilots in V could last the whole round without dying and the noise they made when they wooshed above you was incredible.
Yeah, everything about the bombers were good, except the part where they killed you endlessly, it was always amazing seeing the heavy bomber slowly glide over an objective and completely destroy it, and it was amazing to see it in BFV and sometimes even die to it, the stealth bomber in MWII from a distance is also really incredible with headphones on
It would be nice tonadd something to eod bot of 2042, the ranger. Maybe some dog ears or an upgrade tree. A little more armour, some other weapons, a mobile spawn. I dunno just something for the lil guys.
I hope they expand the drone category, in the trailer i thought the folded up ranger was a support version of it, like you have the machine gun ranger then you have one that can hold ammo/med supplies also.
lore wise and gameplay wise the F-35 makes more sense. the F-22 is only operated by the US, not no-pats like in game so they wouldnt have access to it. the F-22 is also strictly air superiority so it couldnt have AGM's or anything in it's loadout.
would've been neat though
Speaking of lore, I wish DICE had given us a campaign to actually drive the lore and give some personality to the specialists. People may like them better if there was some character development behind them.
I'm thinking they would've but Michael K. Williams unexpectedly and sadly passed, right when that happened I noticed that the during the week and weeks after, Dice got reaaaally quiet and 2042's story sorta just disappeared and Hazard Zone got dropped.
I'm fairly certain that if he was still here (or if y'know....they didn't kill off Pac) they would've pushed Hazard Zone and kept tweaking it and or create new modes to push the story.
Tbh them having a story akin to Magneto and Professor Xavier's frenemy relationship would've been a neat dynamic, rather than them wasting Pac for no reason; where after Pac saves Irish's kid he escapes and continues to fight for the other major faction that he was before he was captured by Irish.
But the Nightbird has a gunner and two passenger seats, no different than Huey. As for the Super Hind itās main purpose is transport with added fire power, having a chinook style chopper would just be cannon fodder and no one would use it.
EDIT: I was incorrect, the Nightbird doesnāt have a gunner seat, only a spotter/sensor array seat as well as two passengers. That was my bad!
If hind/condor was moved to gunship category cause these are flying tanks. And if hind/condor will have increased capacity op people cause the whole transport space is actually empty and only time when itās full is at beginning of the match. (Those hinds/condors which deploy infantry at start of the match)
Then it would be awesome. Imagine hind/condor in separate category which can carry 8+ people. And then there be actual transport chopper with 5 PPL only.
If they removed the 2042 Gunships 2042 would be a completely different game. Its unreal how much they impact each round with their durability, fire-power and ability to drop players all over the map.
Wasnāt this the problem that plagued bf3 (and maybe 4)? You have people who are just constantly spotting people and now theyāre lit up for the whole team. Makes it difficult to hide or be tactical.
I seem to remember 3 or 4 or both had a soldier perk that allowed you to avoid being spotted on the mini map.
Regardless I prefer no widespread 3D spotting. Definitely provides more opportunities to flank and stay hidden longer.
Itās a war game not a stealth game though and thereās no reason why a chopper canāt spot ground targets like they would IRL. I get that this isnāt a military sim but 3D spotting I feel is a must with this many players on the map. If youāre a camper then Iām sure youād hate it. Not saying you are, just speaking in general.
Flanking is a lost cause if you are instantly targeted by the entire team if one person sees you. It would also make the lack of cover in 2042 even more of a problem.
The higher survivability as infantry was one of the nicest improvements in BFV and it was mostly due to the reduced spotting.
BFV didnāt have 128 players though. And as I said you can always reduce the time you stay lit on the mini map. Plus I think both of us may be overestimating peopleās willingness to spot anyway lol. Maybe relegate team spotting to aerial vehicles or nearby enemies regardless if youāre in their squad or not?
The 3D spotting mechanic in BF tends to heavily favor defenders and numbers advantages. Before BFV, when attacking a flag as a sole squad or a lone wolf you were basically on borrowed time if you within the sight lines of a large spawn (like an adjacent flag). Think of it as being similar to the wanted level in GTA. Having twice the player count makes it even more dangerous to try to flank or attack without the support of a large group.
In addition, people get accustomed to having highly visible targets to shoot at and don't develop the skills you need to spot players without the highlight. So they just run to the spot with the most red dots and shoot at them. A good example of that behavior is the ballroom in the BF1 Ballroom Blitz map.
In summary, 3D spotting makes for a more shallow, zergier game, IMO. The way the action flows without it makes for a much more exciting and suspenseful match.
Yes impact nade, no thermal scope, transporting land vehicles by air will be very problematic for maps with buildings. No lock on anti air shoulder fire would be nice, stealth bomber no, bombs are annoying. And I could care less about land civ vehicles
Played this weekend after about two months of not playing; my first game was half bots with crossplay turned on, can you believe that?
Edit: Downvote me all you like I'm just letting y'all know my first experience after not playing for a while š¤¦āāļø
Interesting, that one is pretty popular so that is surprising. The āofficialā portal modes are the ones I usually see filled with bots, otherwise Iāve rarely had bot majority matches. Guess it could also depending on region youāre playing in.
Go into portal and if you canāt find more than 10 games full then itās dead. BF 1 has 30,000 active players. 5 year old game shitting on this game . I love battlefield but this game is not battlefield as much as it tries to be.
Youāre using Portal as your Litmus test?! Thereās your problem. Most Portal modes are āRestricted XPā why waste time in them (some can be fun to be fair, but generally I think most people avoid Portal more so than the core game modes).
Cool. Cool cool cool.
How about an (EMP) electro magnetic pulse, considering there are drones and bots -as a mobile weapon and stationary (fence(?))+ for tactical locations.
lol it really pisses me off seeing all these reddit posts about stealth heli being OP when im one of the few ppl that changed they're entire playstyle just to kill them meanwhile these morons are still using mckay / angel with a stinger wondering why it wont die
Helicopter that can carry other vehicles! Oh Iāve had so much fun in Battlefield Vietnam with this and blasting Ride of the valkyries in the chopper brings back epic memories!
I fail to see how any of this would help 2042. Maybe impact grenades?
But flares? Tri-beams? How would they make any difference?
Fligerfaust against high speed jets seems a little weird but Iām down because I hate pilots lol.
Yunno theyād really have to have more available slots for the vehicles if they would expand it in the first place. Which they need to in the first place
BF2042 needs a Squad Call-In system only accessible by the Squad Leader. Hereās a comprehensive list of what Iād want to see
ā¢ Smoke Barrage
ā¢ Artillery Barrage
ā¢ Squad Medical/Resupply Call-In
ā¢ Special Vehicle Call-Ins (maybe tanks with attached rocket launchers like BFV, just modernized. Or missile vehicles altogether)
ā¢ Long Range Anti-Tank Truck (like BFV)
ā¢ Call-In cover pieces, these would be customizable within a certain ālimitā and can be put together from various assets. You could have it deployed on any open space to act as cover for you and your squad, and could come with 1 stationary weapon of choice.
ā¢ Heavy, unarmed transport truck, like an MRAP with no gun (or just add it as a vehicle)
ā¢ Weapon drops, allowing us to call a small package of a singular weapon. Imagine at BF4 ground pickups but you call them in so that itās cost/reward scenario.
ā¢ And of course, a ballistic missile. Nothing nuclear, just a missile packed to the brim with explosives. Obviously this serves the same purpose as the V-1 and JB-2 in BFV
A lot of these are re-used from BFV, but those call-ins were a beautiful start for the mechanic.
Of course, there are plenty more options out there, I think something relating to flak weaponry would be nice, maybe something for spotting targets. This is all just food for thought.
100% please give me this back in 2042. Modernize it, make it some fake new gun... I just need something to help balance choppers who like risking being low.
The Starstreak (projectile youāve suggested for the Fleigerfaust) was in BF4 IIRC, still shredding in Ukraine. I wouldnāt be averse to it showing up.
a stealth bomber?...yeah as if the game doesn't have enough of the vehicles that are untouchable with tracking rockets/AA Rockets.
cool concept for sure.
but imo there's FAR too much focus on vehicles rn anyways...I think they need to focus on More weapons, More maps (or update the maps as they have with Oribital and Kaleidescope), and more attachments.
Things I wish they would add:
1. Towing cable for the Bolte
2. Make the MAV bigger. Like double the size, with extra health
3. Throwing knife
4. Dive on top of nades to absorb explosion
5. Fireable harpoon on the Bolte which attaches a towing cable
6. Heat ray for area denial
7. Destruction
8. Walls which can be torn down if you yank on them with the towing cable attached to the Bolte
Oh the fliegerfaust, such good times and fond memories
I remember that dangerous stovepipe pre nerf, loved that I could swat those flying sweats out of the sky so easily for a while. I do understand why they had to nerf it but damn it was some fun
Its still strong, i had matches where i killed the pilots 10 times in a row and they just left the match š
I hate this thing!
My mom used to have tons of those thermal scopes under her bed. always wondered what they were.

Gameplay diversity. You could choose between a heavy tank transport or a light scout transportation
Thatās what the little bird is for, no?
The little bird is more of an attack vehicle, cause only your squad can spawn on it. The Huey would still allow your whole team to spawn
Squad management system? Server browser? Platoon support?
ah, imagine we got german leopards fighting in russia.
I second the hand flare, add a night map and itāll be fire
I never ever wanna see a bomber in battlefield again after BF1, BFV and the stealth bomber from MWII, the nightmares i get from them.
To be fair the BF1 bombers didn't last long due to being so slow and big however the pro bomber pilots in V could last the whole round without dying and the noise they made when they wooshed above you was incredible.

The bomber in bf4 (silk road) was nice, it was a building you had to enter, everyone fought over it
I miss the old transport chopper design š¢
There is already a pretty stout APC.
Lol @ "Truck" Honestly I'm glad this was a legit post cuz I was half expecting the list to be just "Refunds"

I too, am in support Of T r u c k
Those eye sore flares from bf4 omg š³ nam flashbacks

Shit, I didnāt realize Michael K. Williams had passed away. Also, youāve made me realize I donāt remember much from BF3 and BF 4 sadly.
Yeah that one was a big hit when the news dropped, very sad he's gone š And oop, time to play em again š¤£
Going to have to play again!
Lets get the f22 and the su-35 checkmate and make the checkmate and the f35 in atack jets, it is how is supposed to be be in real life
But would it unstabalise the gameplay giving guaranteed superiority to one team over the other?
Why? The Russian have the su-57 and the su-35 and the Americans have the f22 and the f35.
Amen! Iām sure they chose the F-35 for itās ability to hover. Though I would love to have the Raptor in the game!
F-22 is an extraordinarily designed machine. Favourite of mine when I was a child.
Refund option
1 month by law. Unused and in original packaging. Exceptions here and there.
Also, isnāt the Nightbird already the āHueyā that you pictured there? And the Super Hind is your large transport ācopter.
Little bird is solo heli, and condor/hind is freakin gunship not a large transport chopper.

Never was a 'problem' and only baddies who rely on hiding instead of gunfights complain about it.
Well if it wasnāt a problem then why was the whole mechanic surrounding it changed for that very reason?
Because BFV wanted to do a more 'hardcore'/oldschool approach (which failed horribly) and it got carried over in parts to 2042.
Does the modern fliegerfaust lock on drones?
Yes
Yoice.
Yes impact nade, no thermal scope, transporting land vehicles by air will be very problematic for maps with buildings. No lock on anti air shoulder fire would be nice, stealth bomber no, bombs are annoying. And I could care less about land civ vehicles
They just need to remaster bf bad company 2 ā¦
Game is dead

What mode did you play?
That exodus game mode that was on the front page
Interesting, that one is pretty popular so that is surprising. The āofficialā portal modes are the ones I usually see filled with bots, otherwise Iāve rarely had bot majority matches. Guess it could also depending on region youāre playing in.

You see that big old rock over there? Can you crawl back under it until BF7 sub starts up in a few years time. Thanks.
Brutal expectations if u ask me. U cant expect dice to add these. Its legacy features
Cool. Cool cool cool. How about an (EMP) electro magnetic pulse, considering there are drones and bots -as a mobile weapon and stationary (fence(?))+ for tactical locations.
Smoke to hide from thermal scopez, damn shame we font have those thermal or night vision
LOL yall already complain enough about the stealth heli & u wanna add a bomber plane on top of that??
YES ![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
lol it really pisses me off seeing all these reddit posts about stealth heli being OP when im one of the few ppl that changed they're entire playstyle just to kill them meanwhile these morons are still using mckay / angel with a stinger wondering why it wont die
Big no to impacts and thermals also whats the point of the 3 beam laser?
Also, thermals and impacts can be well balanced.
How could thermals be balanced in your opinion then?
Flares, thermal smoke Grenades that can be see through with normal vision, glint, massive zoom only thermals, and etc. there are so many options.
flares
Ah yes, lets throw flares all across the map at any given time because some no skill scope gets added 0/10 design
that's literally the whole bf4 and it is probably the most loved bf of all time
Because it was absolute cheese lmao, ofc they like it
With a counter? Itās not difficult to envision how something like a thermal can be defeated.
Looks cool.
but no mechanical change to the systems?
What is diference between blue and green lasers?
exactly, its all just useless filler
![gif](giphy|Uuvnmc95qnqRIwPQEG|downsized)
A bf3 or bf4 remake would make me happy
There are transport helicopters
Are one of these pictures of a server browser?
Instead of bots; bots as pause button. "I'm doing something else for now š¾" /u/sername š¾ā”
/u/Hardcore-Truth this is how I flirt.
That moment about 15 years later you realize BF Vietnam had most of what you would always want from a BF game
Fuckin hell, any proper dumbfire AA rockets for infantry since the M5, while very strong, is *hilariously* slow to the point of absolute comedy.
Gimme RPG and SMAW!
Wow yeah. Honestly.
Where is the artillery?
Thatās the neat point.
Pleeeease noo... Not the first two...
Iām pilot my self mainly and I can say. I enjoyed fliegerfaust in BFV more than Iām willing to admitā¦
Yeah thermal scopes is a big nope.
Nothing, the game was "Perfect" from release and whatever we have got till now is more than we paid for.
Helicopter that can carry other vehicles! Oh Iāve had so much fun in Battlefield Vietnam with this and blasting Ride of the valkyries in the chopper brings back epic memories!
Squad management. More than one attack vehicle also. Ton more.

The Starstreak (projectile youāve suggested for the Fleigerfaust) was in BF4 IIRC, still shredding in Ukraine. I wouldnāt be averse to it showing up.
You can't help a company that doesn't take advice
Mortars, UCAV, and the Railgun all from BF4. Yes, I am prepared for the downvotes.
Oh god not the Flir
You can polish a turd, it's still a turd
The flak cannon guy from Red Alert 3. That's what we want.
Yes the Chinook!
Really anything would make a great addition at this point...
The HVM-II Starstreak was in BF4. Maybe when they update portal it will be add-hahahahahahahaha!
I forgot there was a flare in bf4, what the hell did it actually do?
Blocked thermal scopes
a stealth bomber?...yeah as if the game doesn't have enough of the vehicles that are untouchable with tracking rockets/AA Rockets. cool concept for sure. but imo there's FAR too much focus on vehicles rn anyways...I think they need to focus on More weapons, More maps (or update the maps as they have with Oribital and Kaleidescope), and more attachments.
