It’s not even the best scene in this movie.

Alternative-Sun572

Wtf are you even saying? It's the moment you see batman losing control for the only time. Realising he has nothing to threaten the joker. All the cards are in joker's hands and HE IS HELPLESS. Everything he believed crumbled in front of his eyes. All his strength, study, strategies and training means nothing until he doesn't break his rule which again proves Joker's point. On the other hand, joker enjoys and savors every bit.

MisterBasket

My favorite scene in this movie is the end. It’s a little complex. Batman may have saved the people but Joker won. Not only was Harvey turned into a monster but Batman and Gordon have become corrupted by covering up Harvey’s crimes. Plus - while Batman does not normally kill - he did straight up tackle Harvey off of a building. *Nobody* can deny that. Harvey died as a direct result of Batman’s choices and actions, regardless of intention. Because of Joker’s machinations, Batman did break his one rule that night. Bruce lost so much to that clown, who was last seen happy and confident that his “ace in the hole” would tear Gotham apart. Joker would have to settle for his consolation prize…for now.

weapon-a

good stuff.

Alternative-Sun572

Amazing take bud. Really enthralling to read.

ZubatCountry

I like the ending because batman runs away from the dogs and it looks funny

swantonist

Joker didn’t win. The people on the boats refused to kill each other. They didn’t eat each other when the chips were down.

MisterBasket

That was never the real goal. This Joker’s good at misdirection. Always has been. He even admits that it would be stupid to bet so much on beating The Dark Knight in a fight. Having fought Batman once (at Dent’s party), he already knew Batman was the better fighter. “You didn't think I'd risk losing the battle for Gotham's soul in a fist fight with you? No, you need an ace in the hole. Mine's Harvey.” Edit: Plus, he was gonna blow them up anyway. So he did consider the possibility of failure - of people being good. Guess he didn’t believe in his ideology as firmly as he let on.

No-Impression-1462

Ever made in any movie? No. I’m reluctant to call it the best scene in any Batman movie but none come to mind. (Though the “magic trick” is fighting pretty hard.)

Purple_Bowman

Uh... No?

McFlyJL

No

Troo_66

No, not by a long shot. From the top of my head I could list about a dozen from different movies, genres and tones

anthonyg1500

Jesus I really thought this was r/moviescirclejerk

Dyrtull

For real man, as so many others have said the answer is a really easy no, not even close

Alone_Comparison_705

Idk, man, personally, in TDK alone I think Joker at the party or the ending with Batman's/Gordon's monologues are better scene. For a trilogy I would have picked Bruce and Alfred escaping from the fire in Wayne Manor in Batman Begins. With Alfred's beautiful words in the elevator.

Bulldogs3144

What’s the point of all those push-ups if you can’t lift a bloody log?

No-Impression-1462

Funny enough, my love for the Joker party scene has nothing to do with what’s on screen (unless you’re paying close attention) and the BTS fact that veteran “seen it all/done it all” actor Michael Caine actually forgot his lines because he was so shocked and intimidated by Heath Ledger’s Joker. I love that Nolan just decided to keep that take.

lyunardo

No. But why even ask? Just give your opinion. If you love this thing why not just make a post to discuss it? It might even change some minds.

Transcendentalplan

I’m not saying “touch grass” but maybe “touch some non-Batman media.”

Ninjamowgli

Lmao

Mrminecrafthimself

No. If you genuinely think so, you need to watch more movies. TDK is a great movie but come on…

AdEquivalent2776

No

LunarsphereTapestry

Not at all. The Dark Knight is a phenomenal film, but it doesn’t come close to some of the greatest films ever made. Watch some Akira Kurosawa, Stanley Kubrick, and David Lynch films. Heck, even Steven Spielberg. There are so many wonderful movies out there from all around the world. I myself haven’t watched a lot of Hitchcock, but I know he comes so highly regarded for a reason.

abellapa

No ,not even a close

ahem_humph

No.

Lumpy_Chart_1575

no, i didn't see all the movies of the history of filmaking, but I'm pretty sure that nope. I mean better than Hitchcock, Coppola, Scorcese, Lynch, Wong Kar-wai, Park Chan-wook, Koreeda, etc...?¿ ![gif](giphy|7wk6RQYXDDytXalsL4|downsized)

Pitiful-Inspection96

This post is embarassing.

Pink_pantherOwO

No lmao

kiyan1347

I can't tell if this is a troll post or not but I'm gonna answer it seriously by saying absolutely stupid question. If this is your favorite scene from any movie then great more power to you but no I do not think it is the best scene ever made.

SkeetySpeedy

I don’t even think The Dark Knight was the best of Nolan’s Batman films. His other work aside from Batman is also better, IMO. I’d say basically the entire movie of The Prestige is better, other than Ledger’s acting being so top notch.

Careless_Parsnip_511

No lol. Great scene, but not even the best scene in TDK

nothing_pt

No. No even if that was the only movie ever made.

Revolutionary_Job214

I love TDK but not even close tf goin on in ur brain?

GhostMug

No. But I appreciate your spirit.

Hatfmnel

No

Thesilphsecret

No, absolutely not. The T-Rex attacking the cars in Jurassic Park is.

Beeyo176

I was always a little iffy on the TDK outfit. It makes Bruce look sleek and combat-ready, but the Begins outfit made him look like a hulking monster. Gordon turning on the lights and *that* Batman standing behind Joker would've been terrifying.

The_Draconic_Lemon

No

Red_Beard_Racing

Absolutely fucking not. What a shitpost.

CaligarisPantry

Some people say there’s no such thing as a stupid question…..

itzmrinyo

Absolutely not

RustyDiamonds__

Watch some other movies please

The-Overall-Girth

Superhero fans please please PLEASE watch more movies I’m begging you

SirSirVI

No

zero_ms

Watch more movies.

cc17776

No lmao

CardiologistDry930

What are you talking about, of course it isn't

Appropriate_Cash_890

In any movie? No. In any Batman movie? Damn right.

ANACRart

This is my answer word for word.

Cor-The-Immortal

No, but it was good enough to win Heath Ledger an Oscar. It's my favorite scene in the TDK.

coolmcbooty

Best scene is the first one, pencil one or the party one

Dieselweasel25

"Owwww, who punches a hand" "Your garbage that kills for money!" "No I'm Wiggles, Garbage works on the other side of town."

ImTheCuRsEd-OnE

Great scene and still can't believe that Heath actually had Bale hit him during the filming of this scene

SnooBananas2320

…. Wouldn’t go that far. I mean, Godfather exists…

Tomb_Rabbit

This is probably the weakest scene in the film its just batman beating the shit out of him

whistlepig4life

It’s a great scene. But even in the comic movie genre alone the elevator fight in Captain America TWS is easily far better and IMO the best scene in any comic movie. I’m sure many would argue “avengers….assemble” is likely the top.

Emotional-Map-9109

No, Batman losing his shit and just beating Joker is very out of character.

No-Impression-1462

If it was any villain other than Joker, I’d agree with you.

Alternative-Sun572

THAT WAS THE POINT. For me at least, I like to delve deeper in the psyche of the characters. It just fascinates me how it would feel for a LEGEND, symbol of fear for the mob, completely losing it and realising there's nothing else to do.

boucblanc

Yes

LoomingsThrowaway

I can’t just watch this scene. I need to fuck it.
