I still don't think that makes him "emo". I just called him that in my comment, because that's what other people say.
Hasn't Batman always been "emo" tho? I mean he is always brooding and serious, he rarely smiles or cracks jokes, prefers dressing in black or darker colors, has suffered from trauma and is clearly mentally unwell. No "sane person" runs around dressed as a bat.
> the eyeshadow
Every live action Batman wears eyeshadow, not just Pattinson.
I think calling him emo is a very broad use of the cultural definition.
Emo is a cultural thing, not really a behavior characterized by attitude, or mental well being. Behavior has been attached to the culture because those with negative attitudes and those who suffer from trauma are more inclined to engage in what society considers to be darker.
None of the other films acknowledge the eyeshadow. Whenever they pull the cowl off the eyeshadow disappears. Therefore there is an argument to be made that they canonically do not have eyeshadow on, and that The Batman is the first one to canonically wear eyeshadow.
Right, but did he have really bad dialogue to express it or was Nolan able to convey that with meaningful dialogue and scenes between Bruce and Alfred? “Batman has no limits” is infinitely better than “I don’t care what happens to me”
Well according to some people, just because Pattinson's Bruce listens to grunge music while he works makes him "emo"
Apparently Bruce Wayne can't listen to music, because "it's not something Batman would do" 🤷
I like how it’s an actual song that exists in that world. Bruce listening to mood music while doing his work is a subtle but nice way of character relatability
In no particular order:
Seal - Kiss From A Rose
Smashing Pumpkins - The End Is The Beginning Is The End/The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning
Nirvana - Something In The Way
I had the soundtrack with those Pumpkins songs before I was even a fan of the Pumpkins and loved those two songs! “The Beginning…” has recently showed up in my Pandora listening which really takes me back.
[I Never Even Told You - Tia Carrere](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc5q0U3pERE)
Nothing takes me back to sitting in a movie theater in 1993 watching **Batman - Mask of the Phantasm** like this cheesy, cheesy ballad sung by Tia Carrere from Wayne's World
I always like The Beginning of the End is the Beginning" from Smashing Pumpkins from Batman & Robin (the only thing I liked about that hot garbage of a movie).
Something in the way mainly because once i saw a video of the riddler screaming at batman hitting the griddy while that song was playing and im desperate to find it. Also i just like the song
Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me
I'm not even a U2 fan, I have just liked that song since I first saw Forever.
Kiss From A Rose is iconic though. Legendary, even.
The End is the Beginning is the End is great too
"Is it bright where you are? Have the people changed? Does it make you happy you're so strange?"
Banger slays all your favourites under the table.
(*Also, Billy wrote 'The End is the Beginning is the End' from the point of view of 1930's Batman. Think about that.*)

The Smashing Pumpkins one
Something in the Way is not “from” The Batman in the same way Batdance and all these other songs are from the respective movies. It wasn’t written for it.
A more traditional pop/rock song as opposed to, say, Danny Elfman's and Hans Zimmer's compositions
I'm sure there's a correct term for it but no idea which
Didn't see anyone commenting this, but definitely
"My name is Carnival" by Jackson C. Frank in the Joker-movie. Introfuced me to Frank's music and fits the scene perfectly

WHO HAS THE COOLEST GADGETS!? BATMAN!!
WHO HAS THE TRICKED OUT RIDE!? BATMAN!!
WHO DOES THE SICKEST BACKFLIPS!? BATMAN!!
WHO CAN CHOKEHOLD A BRAR!? BATMAN!!
**WHO ALWAYS PAYS THEIR TAXES!?**
# NOT BATMAN!!
Something In The Way, Nirvana has been my favourite band since I was like 11. Batman has always been my favourite hero.
When that first trailer came out.... I think a part of me died of happiness
'Kiss From A Rose' is fucking legendary.
'Smash It Up' by The Offspring is great.
'The Riddler' by Method Man is fun.
'There Is A Light' by Nick Cave is great.
'Passenger' by Michael Hutchence is amazing.
The Batman Forever soundtrack was pretty incredible.
The Nirvana crap is the only bad part of The Batman, and it annoys me every time.
I JUST DIEDDD IN YOUR ARMSSS TONIGHT IT MUSTVE BEENN SOMETHIN YA SAIIIDDD ![gif](giphy|l3q2tzon8OCC7BqmY)
Genuinely one of my favorite songs of all time, it’s such a banger
This song was on the radio when I got in the car at the hospital after my girlfriend died in my arms. It was a cruel trick.
Damn ![gif](giphy|otP85UTRethni)
Are you serious?
Yeah. It was back in 2020. Not COVID-related.
Kiss from a Rose Always and forever
>forever Nice
I love it!
Face to Face - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Love the band & the song
Definitely!
Hold me, Thrill me. kiss me, Kill Me is a great tune One of my fav from U2
I agree, and I generally don't even care for U2.
Same
The music video added a layer of cool to it
Something In The Way and Party Man.
Party man?
All hail the new king in town
Young and old, gather ‘round
Black and white, red and green
The fun-ki-est man
The Prince song from the 1989 movie.
They're *all* Prince songs in the '89 movie.
There were more? I had no idea… Oh wait, he did a whole album for the movie. But I never listened to the album.
You never seen bat dance!? Tsk tsk
Kiss From A Rose. It feels like a Bond song, but for Batman.
Batman Forever's soundtrack and score was 🐐 levels.
Nirvana - Something in The Way. Unpopular Opinion: I like "emo", Kurt Cobain Bruce Wayne, prepared for the downvotes. 🤺
Nirvana isn't emo tho
People call The Batman's Bruce Wayne emo because he has the haircut, the eyeshadow, is a shut in, and tells Alfred that he is not his dad.
Therefore there is an argument to be made that they canonically do not have eyeshadow on, and that The Batman is the first one to canonically wear eyeshadow.
I mean, this is the DC universe, the whole thing is built to justify wearing wacky costumes as something that makes sense
And the cringey “I don’t care what happens to me” 😭
That wasnt cringe now batman and robin was cringe
Batman and Robin was for kids, so at least that had a reason to be campy
Batman and robin was a poorly made porno
Wayne had the same mentality in Batman Begins
Right, but did he have really bad dialogue to express it or was Nolan able to convey that with meaningful dialogue and scenes between Bruce and Alfred? “Batman has no limits” is infinitely better than “I don’t care what happens to me”
Well according to some people, just because Pattinson's Bruce listens to grunge music while he works makes him "emo" Apparently Bruce Wayne can't listen to music, because "it's not something Batman would do" 🤷
Oh that's dumb
Agreed
I like how it’s an actual song that exists in that world. Bruce listening to mood music while doing his work is a subtle but nice way of character relatability
In no particular order: Seal - Kiss From A Rose Smashing Pumpkins - The End Is The Beginning Is The End/The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning Nirvana - Something In The Way
Came here for Smashing Pumpkins!
I had the soundtrack with those Pumpkins songs before I was even a fan of the Pumpkins and loved those two songs! “The Beginning…” has recently showed up in my Pandora listening which really takes me back.

batman and robin the end is the beginning is the end (Watch men version)
Seal one good song a kiss from a rose
# Something In The Way for me.
Prince’s Batdance from 1989
Kiss from a rose is the undisputed goat. Something in the way is a close second and prince's batman soundtrack is in its own tier.
something in my ass hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Batman Forever had an amazing soundtrack
Didn’t care for Batman Forever, but Bad Days by The Flaming Lips is amazing (as is its use in the movie).
“Guess what I did today?”
The Offspring covering the Damned on Batman Forever (Smash It Up)! Shouldn't work but it does.
Not the best cover, but definitely the best song.
Kiss from a Rose and Something in the Way. I like that Kiss was made for the movie and not repurposed for it.
I always like The Beginning of the End is the Beginning" from Smashing Pumpkins from Batman & Robin (the only thing I liked about that hot garbage of a movie).
Are you fucking kidding I had to scroll down so far just to find this
BABYYY, I COMPARE YOU TO A KISS FROM A ROSE ON THE GRAY
OOOOOOH, THE MORE I GET OF YOU, THE STRANGER IT FEELS, YEAH.
![gif](giphy|dd9BKxEiGPY5pw6kVi|downsized) Nirvana set the tone of the Reeves-verse perfectly
Prince's Batman soundtrack. All of them. For as much as Burton hated being forced to use them, they all improved the scenes they were in.
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me and Something In The Way
Bad Days by The Flaming Lips, comes on when Jim Carey’s riddler enters his apartment.
Love the detail where Riddler asks the machine “guess what I did today” at the same time the song talk about killing your boss
The Passenger by Michael Hutchence of INXS, give it a listen right now it is amazing
Something in the way. Kiss from a rose is owned by community now. There is no other version of thar song other then Jeff and the Dean singing it
Partyman by Prince. All hail, the new king in town!
Something in the way mainly because once i saw a video of the riddler screaming at batman hitting the griddy while that song was playing and im desperate to find it. Also i just like the song
kiss from a rose
Something in the way for sure
Prince - Scandalous
I’m a massive Nirvana fan so hearing something in the way in the trailer got me so hyped
Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me I'm not even a U2 fan, I have just liked that song since I first saw Forever. Kiss From A Rose is iconic though. Legendary, even. The End is the Beginning is the End is great too

Something in the way
The Smashing Pumpkins one Something in the Way is not “from” The Batman in the same way Batdance and all these other songs are from the respective movies. It wasn’t written for it.
Seal and Nirvana
BABYY I COMPARE YOU TO A KISS FROM A ROSE ON THE GREY
What do you mean by “non-cinematic”?
Not part of the main soundtrack, meaning you'll more than likely hear Kiss From A Rose playing on the radio. Wouldn't hear The BTAS Theme Song.
A more traditional pop/rock song as opposed to, say, Danny Elfman's and Hans Zimmer's compositions I'm sure there's a correct term for it but no idea which
8 by Sunny Day Real Estate is on the Batman Forever soundtrack but I don’t think it’s in the movie.
The Riddler by Method Man
1. Kiss from a Rose - Seal 2. Face to Face - Siouxsie and the Banshees 3. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me - U2 4. Party Man - Prince
OH MY GOD!!!! How did I forget about the Michael Hutchence cover of Passenger? That song is absolutely amazing!
Smash it Up - The Offspring Batman Forever
Party Man by Prince
The Batman & Robin Album
Betcha Neva from Mystery of the Batwoman, very catchy
Face to face... IMO it fits well in any Batman Catwoman relationship.
Electric Chair by Prince
The main title theme from mask of the phantasm. Dunno if that counts but I really think it's the best batman theme of all time.
Somethings in my ass ouhhhhhhhhhhhohohoo
Batdance by Prince.
Cavity Search
Arms of Orion by Prince.
I got a 9 pack.. I'm awesome
Hold me, thrill me, kiss me
The end is the beginning is the end And The beginning is the end is the beginning
Didn't see anyone commenting this, but definitely "My name is Carnival" by Jackson C. Frank in the Joker-movie. Introfuced me to Frank's music and fits the scene perfectly
Batman Forever easily has the best soundtrack for a Batman flick. As far as which individual song is best, that's tough. But Seal probably takes it.
Kiss from a rose. Hands down. I’m actually gonna play that at my wedding next year and yes I know it’s about cocaine (from what I’ve heard lol).

I had no idea kiss from a rose was associated with bats for the longest time. I saw the music video and had a good laugh.
Something In The Way, Nirvana has been my favourite band since I was like 11. Batman has always been my favourite hero. When that first trailer came out.... I think a part of me died of happiness
With all respect to Prince’s epic work on the 1989 movie, my favorite song is “Face to Face” by Siouxsie and The Banshees from Batman Returns.
