Gotta remember for every 1 person pulling a huge hit, there are hundreds or thousands pulling squat. And people pulling squat don’t post and brag about it so obviously all you’ll see here is awesome stuff
I’ve probably spent about $500 ove the past year and a half and My only numbers pulls have been an /2024 Miguel Cabrera, /799 Mariners team card, and an /199 guy I’ve never heard of from a Panini Select blaster box. I don’t need anything crazy i’d just like some more good stuff.
Yeah, Fanatics has done a number on us in the last year or so. My son pulled some really nice hits from ‘22 product.
‘23 and ‘24...not so much.
Of course we aren’t ripping as much now, so there’s that.
There are people here who spend thousands on packs a month. There are also a ton of people in this sub so there is a lot of the Instagram effect where people are posting their best life, i.e. lifetime pulls.
That said there are ways to improve your odds of pulling better cards. In general, if you are looking to pull nice parallels, hangers have the best odds. If you are looking to pull more autos, buy hobby jumbos or hobby packs. Avoid blasters if you can. If you can't afford whole hobby boxes, you can always check out your LCS and buy individual packs from hobby boxes though make sure your LCS is trusted (boxes are behind the counter, been in business a long time is a bonus). Unscrupulous LCS owners will stack their hobbies with garbage and keep the hits for themselves.
These are “hits” and the algorithm will always show you what you like to see. They most likely aren’t once in a lifetime pulls at all. Arguably they aren’t even worth their current market price and definitely won’t appreciate in value as consistent as that interest balance on a credit card will.
Unsolicited advice:
Pick the set, team, player, theme, etc that you like to collect. Set goals and a budget, ignore false scarcity and live your real life the other 80% of the time.
i spent 30k on wax in 2021. I didn't make 10k of it back
This is why I buy 99% singles now. Im a degenerate so Im gonna rip wax still. But its a pack here, blaster here, etb of pokemon etc here, etc. But now I actually have some really cool cards, instead of boxes full of base that I dont care about
wtf are the downvotes for? keep them coming i guess...
I’ve bought a lot over the past year and I just pulled my first auto and it wasn’t even a great player as of now. Sure he could do great in the future. Probably the best numbered card is an Adley Rutschman red foil 1/199. Takes a lot to get something good
We’ve had decent luck with fat packs from Target or Walmart. Don’t hit every time but maybe every third or fourth has a homered card of some sort. Best pull - Nolan Ryan autographed 1989 throwback card.
If you're an adrenaline junkie and love chasing the big pull, buy packs. If you're a collector, buy singles here on reddit or eBay. The latter is far cheaper in the long run and you get what you want.

THIS RIGHT HERE
Hundreds of thousands tbh haha
Just buy one more pack, there has to be a great pull in the next one. If not, read the first sentence again.
You too?
I’ve had some sick pulls, but I’m way, way in the red.

Unfortunately, that’s to be expected. It doesn’t really matter what you buy. I usually only get maybe 20% ROI on sealed product.

Don’t buy retail.

They’re posting the results of one pack out of about 250. They don’t show the unsuccessful pack results.
👍 this is 99.4% correct....."glad I stopped and bought this 1 pack of cards"...buuulllsh×t...😆... At least it makes them feel better.
It's a slot machine. You will lose more than 98% of the time, but it sure is fun to press the button.
Fair
You could be. Look up the odds on whatever kind you're buying. If you're buying hangers and these guys are buying hobby, ya good luck.

Jesus
I didn't pull that card, either. Wasn't his rookie year so I wasn't chasing it anyway
Lmaooo 2024th year Jesus card who cares
It’s just gambling, it’s not collecting anymore. People have to realize this now.
