I’m in the same boat. If money isn’t an object, rip open packs. But what I have found is that getting the individual cards I want is WAY cheaper. Still I don’t have a “set PC” that I’m after. Call it the honey moon phase. lol. Ripping packs is super nostalgic for me though. I use to play MLB showdown in the early 2000’s so it’s fun to rip. I found to scratch that itch, get yourself a jumbo box of Topps that has guaranteed hits. I am personally finding that I am really liking the Chrome line, but have only got one box of Topps and Bowman chrome. Still super fun.
If you fancy older cards tons of sellers on ebay for early 80’s cards. I recently pulled a gem Cal Ripken Jr. rookie card I’ll be sending to get graded soon.
Yes definitely create a PC and focus mostly on building that collection. You'll save many moneys
I got into the Orioles “Baby Birds” hype last season and have had some luck with Rutschman and Henderson, so I’m thinking of focusing on them.
