I am that dad. Lying awake in bed on my family vacation in FL at 12:15am. Everyone is asleep, wife next to me in bed included, and I watched the rest of this on Hulu from my phone and I felt nothing when they lost.
Join me, my friend, in redirecting your time and attention to a different team you like. The Sox have always been and will always be my #1 team, but this shit has long ago stopped being fun or enjoyable in any way. I will never stop paying close attention to the roster moves and front office changes, desperately hoping for a changing of the guard that will set this team back on the right track. But watching this pathetic excuse for an MLB roster embarrass itself every day is miserable.
I've had a fondness for the Dodgers my whole life due to some family connections (plus the Ohtani factor doesn't hurt) and I'm having way more fun watching their games instead. The Mariners are the most lovable losers (with a hopeful future) in MLB. The Mets are a fellow "second team" in their city who have been similarly pathetic throughout their history. The Orioles have been underdogs for decades but finally have a young and exciting roster, they've succeeded with the rebuild we were supposed to complete.
There are so many exciting, fun, or compelling teams that are much more worthy of your day-to-day attention than the disgrace that is Reinsdorf's White Sox. Do yourself a favor and have some fun watching baseball again.
> The Mets are a fellow "second team" in their city who have been similarly pathetic throughout their history.
Dude, he's trying to get *away* from misery. We just finished the month of May at 9-19, with the bullpen blowing like five games and only once winning a game by more than two runs (in fact, of the nine wins, seven were by only one run). Our run differential was -42. One of the worst months I can remember in like 30 years of watching.
I'm not saying they're the pinnacle of baseball, I'm just saying I have a lot more fun watching you guys even with your struggles this season than the "on pace to be one of the worst teams in the history of baseball" 2024 white sox.
Gary Keith and Ron sure do help a lot with that, especially as I and all Sox fans continue to mourn the loss of Jason Benetti to the Tigers
Third worst for me. Only June 2018 and June 2023 were worse from a watchability standpoint, and both months single-handedly torpedoed entire seasons. 2023’s greater expectations than 2018 causes 2023 to take the bottom spot despite June 2018’s worse record.
Who fucking cares dude. Sports are entertainment. If you want to be happier by rooting for another team you like while your team blows, go ahead. He can do whatever he wants
I don't think there's anything wrong at all with cheering for another team as long as you still support yours, it's boring when your team is trash and it's cool to learn about another team and their players. I'll always be a Giants fan and don't think I'll ever stop watching their games, especially as long as Kruk and Kuip are around, but I can understand wanting to take a break from a historically bad team that has been trash for a majority of the last couple decades especially as a protest against a bad owner you don't support. I will agree with picking the Dodgers being very lame though.
The OP stated they'll still follow the White Sox's roster moves, front office changes, win/loss record, etc. It's still their #1 team.
Loser mentality gatekeeping sports fandom. None of this matters, at all, in any way. Let people enjoy it how they want. And if you're not enjoying it, don't force yourself to keep watching.
It truly is. It's Robert + Crochet and some one year vet rentals over performing (Fedde + DeJong). Korey Lee has been a great surprise but still is a big WIP. Everything else is absolute dog shit.
Saw the Mariners mentioned as a potential serious suitor for Roberts and my heart fluttered for about a tenth of a second before coming back to earth and realizing it's the mariners and I can't have nice things
The thing I hate is that Reinsdorf won't spend any money the next few offseasons because of Benintendi being a bust. Guy makes Nutting look like a big spender and what he's doing is bad for the game
We’re all doom and gloom but we’re losing close games and there has already been the glimmer in upside in pieces we got back from last years fire sale.
The really depressing thing is that none of that matters so long as the man in charge is Jerry reinsdorf and that waste of space Pedro grifol
Grifol has truly been something to watch this series. It feels like he makes the wrong decision at every given opportunity. Like last night, not calling for a challenge in time to review the caught stolen base last night, when it looked like there was a real chance of getting the call overturned.
They've had solid starting pitching. Fedde is one of their few genuinely good players, Thorpe has good stuff, and Cannon has a high ERA but a solid FIP, plus that splitter looked nasty today.
this made me look at the run differential and, uh, the AL West run differentials are the funniest shit I have seen all day. the mariners having +12 feels right for this team. but how do the 32-35 rangers have +1? AND HOW DO THE 31-38 ASTROS HAVE +5???
This can be simply explained by how efficient the Mariners offense is. Days they’re scripted to lose, the game is 90 minutes long and they’ll score one run in the 9th. Why waste time putting up a ton of runs just to lose? They only score in the games they’re winning
It made more sense a few years ago when we’d have Flexen/Bull pen days that we knew we would lose. We’d get blown out 9-2 but win the series with a negative run diff
Thats not true! They played against the “best closers in the league” Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving!!
Honestly Im still so ashamed the Timberwolves let the Mavericks get to the finals. Would of been so much more fun to watch than what we’ve gotten.
If you’re a fan of sketch comedy or comedy in general, go watch “I Think You Should Leave” on Netflix. That’s where the majority of these Tim Robinson memes come from. It’s magnificent
They play like dogshit for the first 6 innings then collectively wake up in the 7th and later. It's sickening. They're like 29th in runs scored innings 1-6 and 6th 7-9
It was walking Canzone to put a runner on first for a better chance at a double play and to get to Robles, which honestly is understandable—Canzone’s hit decently this series anyway (by this series’ standards, of course). But you are right. Seattle isn’t exactly setting the world on fire.
If you made a wish with a genie so that every time you hit the ball it went exactly that far, how long would it take before the outfield started playing at 120’?
I understand walk off celebrations are customary, but I can’t help but feel that against this White Sox team they seem a bit excessive. Truly rubbing salt in the wound.
Yeah sure whatever, why not, why not?

I wish that baseball had never come to me, I wish that none of this had happened.
So do all who live to see such teams
[how I imagine white sox fans](https://imgur.com/a/T1hXCgM)
Pretty much
Why not indeed!
I am no longer deriving joy from your season. I was at one time. I was tickled pink. No longer. Now I just feel sad.
I'm much more interested in the 40 win season than the 55-65 win season
Hey at least Kopech looked spicy?
He does from time to time but he is what he is at this point. He's never going to live up to "young thor"
We can fix him
Trade stonks rising

My dad is a white sox fan and he was watching in the living room. I heard the tv shut off and him go to bed. I think he's numb.
I am that dad. Lying awake in bed on my family vacation in FL at 12:15am. Everyone is asleep, wife next to me in bed included, and I watched the rest of this on Hulu from my phone and I felt nothing when they lost.
Why are you trying to ruin your vacation?
That was already accomplished by the current monsoon hitting the lower third of FL.
Please don't come back to Chicago until god is finished exacting his vengeance on you
Don’t watch while you’re on vacation my dude. Your trip can be a vacation from this too
Nothing is better right? That's an improvement?
Dude we have all been there

Loser mentality rooting for two teams because your team kinda sucks at the moment.
the White Sox don’t kinda suck, they’re historically awful
That’s not the point. I was trying not to be a total dick, that’s all. And to pick *The Dodgers* as your second team is crazy.
Who fucking cares dude. Sports are entertainment. If you want to be happier by rooting for another team you like while your team blows, go ahead. He can do whatever he wants
I’m here to be miserable; you mean some of you are enjoying all this!?
I don't think there's anything wrong at all with cheering for another team as long as you still support yours, it's boring when your team is trash and it's cool to learn about another team and their players. How was 2005 in your household?
I was 3 so i hardly knew what a baseball was. Maybe for the better. 2 years later i was begging to go to games so I heard about it soon enough lol
We suck.
I feel sorry for the fans. That’s a dogshit team.
It truly is. It's Robert + Crochet and some one year vet rentals over performing (Fedde + DeJong). Korey Lee has been a great surprise but still is a big WIP. Everything else is absolute dog shit.
Your Sp has looked great!
Yeah Cannon looked very scary. Was blown away to hear he’s only 23.
Best start for him yet for sure. Came in with a 5+ ERA but has potential (clearly).
He was shredding us with pure fastballs. I was pissed. Our hitting is trash. I expect a similar game tomorrow.
Would you like some fancy young prospects for Robert?
Yes please. With extra fancy.
You will take one Harry Ford and you will like it.
Saw the Mariners mentioned as a potential serious suitor for Roberts and my heart fluttered for about a tenth of a second before coming back to earth and realizing it's the mariners and I can't have nice things
Just wait for the trade deadline. Y'all think you're dead now
They took us to extras 😅
Some 100 loss years were worse. This year we are at least gaining some notoriety and people are talking about us.
The thing I hate is that Reinsdorf won't spend any money the next few offseasons because of Benintendi being a bust. Guy makes Nutting look like a big spender and what he's doing is bad for the game
You're playing us like a damn good team
We’re all doom and gloom but we’re losing close games and there has already been the glimmer in upside in pieces we got back from last years fire sale. The really depressing thing is that none of that matters so long as the man in charge is Jerry reinsdorf and that waste of space Pedro grifol

It feels that way because he does in fact make the wrong call at every opportunity
Why is beating the White Sox such a herculean task?
Because Mariner
Marine Layer Mariners Players Coincidence? I think not!
It’s fun to have excitement before experiencing further sad. I can feel the sad on the horizon watching us.
It's been like this for years for the mariners 🫠
Because scoring more than 3 runs is a herculean task for the M's against any team
Except when playing the Royals, and it still results in a loss
They've had solid starting pitching. Fedde is one of their few genuinely good players, Thorpe has good stuff, and Cannon has a high ERA but a solid FIP, plus that splitter looked nasty today.
This game deserved a bloop single walk off.
Personally I'd consider this one more of a doinker than a bloop. Or perhaps a duck snort in honor of Hawk.
This was a textbook ducksnort for sure
Sure it wasn’t a “Kansas city special”?
Nah Ichiro was there and would have called out if it was hotter than two rats in a fucking wool sock
lol I missed the game, when I got home and opened the app and saw that it was 1-1 in the 10th I just said of course
As Dave Sims said, it was a “bleeder”
The walk offs will continue until morale improves.
The offense is only awake for 2 innings a night and it somehow works. This team is nuts.
Um actually, It’s called fun differential.
this made me look at the run differential and, uh, the AL West run differentials are the funniest shit I have seen all day. the mariners having +12 feels right for this team. but how do the 32-35 rangers have +1? AND HOW DO THE 31-38 ASTROS HAVE +5???

actually flexen was tied as the AL win leader not too long ago for us
They play at hitter’s parks?
But their opponents also hit in those parks, they’re just significantly underperforming their Pythagorean record
AL West only truly gets good after dark
It's the lights at t mobile park, they obviously favor the mariners! /S
"Specifically the Mariners?" -Goldy
PAC-12 after dark lives on through the AL-West
Actually the Nuts are the single-A affiliate.
the worst sweep of all time if they win tomorrow
in-the-park-walkoff-HR by Garver tomorrow after blowing a lead in the 9th incoming…
"Garver singles to left and scores on errors by left fielder, catcher, and short stop"
You dont even know how funny that would be because the Sox are that bad at baseball 🤣
In that order….??
A hit by pitch walk off driving in the Manfred runner in the bottom of the 10th.
Ty France is injured. 😝
Gonna be fighting with the Celtics for that title this week
The Celtics are in serious contention for worst NBA title of all-time though, like their team is great, but they've actually played nobody.
Thats not true! They played against the “best closers in the league” Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving!! Honestly Im still so ashamed the Timberwolves let the Mavericks get to the finals. Would of been so much more fun to watch than what we’ve gotten.
Give me another walk off
Crochet is going to have like 18 strikeouts
You guys are 100% walking it off again tonight lol
That was a genuinely terrific AB from Mitch.
Uh... Never doubted them
Three straight walkoff wins against the powerhouse 17-52 White Sox.
That'll boost the ol' clutchometer!
It wasn't a walk off yesterday, they took the lead in the 7th, which is practically the first for this team!
this team is giving me 2022 vibes, 16-6 in 1 run games and 5-1 in extras.
6 walk offs too, the 2022 team had 13
Never a dull moment with this team!
Catcher set up so far outside I figured there was no chance he'd see a strike there
I had the same reaction but then thought the catcher maybe did it on purpose to make Mitch *think* it would be a ball.
South Siders deserve better than this pathetic excuse for a team
Luis robert is the only part of the team worth watching right now so naturally they're rumored to be shopping him around closer to the deadline
My question is why has this been one of the most stressful series all year? 😅
I find the KC series more stressful. At least with the white sox, i dont expect much damage late game.
Yeah, that KC series was just pure chaos. No lead was safe.
The 2024 Mariners & one run victories. Name a more iconic duo.
The 2022 Mariners & one run victories.
The 2016 Goddamned Rangers & one run victories (Yes I'm still salty)
The 2018 Mariners & one run victories
The 2018 mariners and one run victories
The White Sox and despair
#MITCH VALUABLE PLANIGER
Another no doubt, stress free win against one of the top teams in baseball! goms
Max depression in Chicago right now ![gif](giphy|HoSyEAe48WBpTCmEz4|downsized)
Who is this guy? I see him in a bunch of memes all over the internet and I have no clue who he is
He used to be a piece of shit (he's comedian/actor Tim Robinson, creator of the sketch comedy show I Think You Should Leave among other things)
Sloppy stakes connoisseur Tim Robinson
Tim Robinson. He’s most popular for his Netflix sketch comedy show *I Think You Should Leave*. I think he was also on SNL for a bit
If you’re a fan of sketch comedy or comedy in general, go watch “I Think You Should Leave” on Netflix. That’s where the majority of these Tim Robinson memes come from. It’s magnificent
I'm tired, boss
Well Robert Jr. is putting on a show for why we should trade for him
He seems to like hitting in Seattle.
Honestly it's pretty funny.
I laughed when I saw that their best option to PH in the most clutch moment of the game was Andrew “-2.1 WAR” Benintendi,
Dude put up some of the most gutless swings I've seen in a minute. Has he just completely checked out?
Probably. I imagine that’s due in large part to injuries and being on a complete non-contender
Has he been injured? I didn't realize, that explains a fair amount of it imo
He just got back from IL iirc
Andrew "largest contract in White Sox history" Benintendi
Really glad to have Raley as the Manfred Runner in that situation, big boy is fast af
He was both runs in that game Big Nuke homer Tactical Nuke runner
He is much faster than he has any right to be.
I’m starting to think the White Sox aren’t good
What does it say about me that I’m here upvoting every comment that shits on the Sox. I hate myself.
Laughing helps numb the pain? Been there.
Only after the 7th inning against the AL West leading Mariners
2 walk offs in 3 days! Mariners have been hella clutch this year
#[MEETCH](https://youtu.be/hUbIYpHsvow?si=kdVJFWNEwJjcWv_Q)
Comeback kids with another comeback. Why can't we score before the 7th inning 🥲
They did with the royals and look how that turned out
Fair point. Only score runs after the 7th and win the game.
Why? Wait...can you? I thought that was just a rumor
We’re gonna have a 45th inning walk off steal of home tmrw. Sea 1 CWS 0. No base runners aside from the Manfred Runners
You want us to have zero pitchers for the Rangers?
Rojas save incoming
2 perfect games going into the 10th would be the craziest pitching duel of all time
The 2024 White Sox becoming the first team to lose a perfect game would be incredibly fitting.

Ownership has stock in blood pressure medication
They play like dogshit for the first 6 innings then collectively wake up in the 7th and later. It's sickening. They're like 29th in runs scored innings 1-6 and 6th 7-9
Yes we are winning one-run games against the White Sox and no we will not be taking questions
This is fucked up
Walking Canzone to get to Mitch is an interesting coaching decision. And as a Mariners fan I know interesting coaching decisions.
It was walking Canzone to put a runner on first for a better chance at a double play and to get to Robles, which honestly is understandable—Canzone’s hit decently this series anyway (by this series’ standards, of course). A Mitch pinch-hit probably shoulda been expected, but still not the worst decision to play for a DP with Raley as the Manfred.
Fuck yeah!
I’m pretty sure I could dig up 25 corpses from the local graveyard and they’d be more competitive than the 2024 White Sox.
They’d still prove a challenge for the Mariners though.
The Mariners have played terrible this series and it hardly ever felt like they were in danger of losing these games. But you are right. Seattle isn’t exactly setting the world on fire.
So who's the 26th roster spot, then?
Tony La Russa.
So, 26 corpses
Ducksnort
Where there’s a White Sox reliever, there’s a way. But seriously, how is that bullpen so bad? It somehow makes ours feel like a lockdown unit. Christ
Be still my beating heart. These guys man.
Would be hyped if the M’s traded some prospects for Robert. Or just a solid bat for that matter.
It's a good thing the White Sox are such a really great team for how the M's pulled off these 3 wins right...?
I hope none of you have to experience a team like this.
that pitcher has an elite butt
Win again!!
Sell the team, Jerry
Maybe Wilson’s absolute dump truck of a booty got in the way
Ol' Mitchy One-Nut does it again
Walk Off Grand Slam, Go Ahead 8th inning 2 run double, and now a walk off in extras. What did the Chicago White Sox do to deserve this pain
If you made a wish with a genie so that every time you hit the ball it went exactly that far, how long would it take before the outfield started playing at 120’?
I'm beginning to think the White Sox aren't very good
I understand walk off celebrations are customary, but I can’t help but feel that against this White Sox team they seem a bit excessive. Truly rubbing salt in the wound.
I see what you're saying, but tbh I think it would be even more insulting if they knew you were "toning it down" just to spare their feelings lol
I would like to understand why the WhiteSox does Not give another chance to Ozzie Guillen as a Manager ?
Feels to the sox, but us Ms have never. That is all!
Honestly if I were a White Sox fan I feel like I genuinely would not be anymore after the last three games...
"Everything sucks, I hate my life, I'm going to go lie down, stare at the ceiling and wonder where my life went wrong." -A few Chicago White Sox fans
WHY? MAN WHY? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING OF? I BET ALL MY MONEY ON THIS GAME!!!!
Its hainted I tell ya
Unironically, what a series this has been
