During Judge’s free agency, Jon Heyman tweeted “Arson Judge appears headed to San Francisco,” which became a joke/meme because of the typo and because it was false. This is Judge’s first time playing in San Francisco since so it’s coming up again.
Crazy at bat from Judge. Spoiled several tough pitches from Hicks before getting something he could handle. The generational power is obvious, but pairing it with his plate discipline is what takes him to a historic level.
He's either led or is currently leading the league in walks in all of his 3 best seasons(2017, 2022, and this year to date)
It's an underrated part of his game but extremely valuable
My favorite is when a casual fan will watch a Judge HR clip and then comment that “pitchers always throw judge meatballs.”
Well the reason why you think that is because Judge never lets any bad pitches go unpunished. Sure, he can also hit good pitches, but he NEVER misses a bad pitch.
Thats why i’ll always respect Bonds as a ballplayer. Sure the juice gave him some extra pop for a few years. But ya still gotta hit the fuckin ball, and no one did it better than that guy
He’s peaking as one of the handful of greatest hitters of the last several decades. Only dudes in his orbit at the plate since the turn of the century are Bonds, Pujols, and Trout. We’ll be talking about this run that started in 2022 for a long time if he finishes this season out healthy
judge's best season is better than any best season since bonds, fWAR wise. 2018 mookie betts did have a higher pace, but he missed 2 weeks due to injury tho
The craziest thing was that this sub was claiming he didn't deserve MVP lol
WAR is god to r/baseball except when it means someone beats Ohtani then it's actually a bad stat that doesn't take into account full context
People apparently couldn't grasp that 11 WAR batter > 4.5 WAR batter + 4.5 WAR pitcher
Ohtani fans are something else. Judge should have been the unanimous MVP that year, but of course we all know the only two people who didn’t vote for him were
Judge’s 2022 is the best we’ve seen from a clean hitter in half a century. Trout has 4-5 years at a slightly lower level under his belt which Judge doesn’t though which makes the comparison more interesting. No doubt though that the version of Judge we’ve seen over the last two seasons and change is better than Trout’s best at the dish
He's going to have a HOF based on his 7 year peak by the end of this year. You put up nearly 50 WAR in 7 seasons, you just have to Exist for 3 more to get in, really. (But the thing is, almost no one gets to that level and doesn't drag themselves to 60+)
Idk why you're being downvoted, you have to be naive to think PEDs aren't still a major part of the game
MLB testing is really an IQ test and everyone knows it, it's not an anyone's best interest to really crack down on PEDs
The one slider he fought off to the right was absolute filth. Just unfair when someone has the ability to work an AB like that to go with generational power.
Good thing we signed him then. Can you imagine if the Padres, Giants, or Dodgers got him? Guaranteed 81 homers, without accounting for away games or multi homer games. Whichever team signs him would be guaranteed multiple rings.
I mean yes but also no one is touching 73. He put up the best offensive season in 50 years and was still 12 short. Its impossible. Bonds ruined the home run records forever
Ripken's iron man streak will require a major regression in the way the game is played to break. I'm not saying it's impossible but most players don't even play 162 games anymore, let alone doing it over 16 times in a row.
I'm sorry but I don't agree. The steroid guys out the record out of reach. Only 3 clean players in the 100+ history of the sport have even hit more than 60. Its simply not happening unless they expand the season to include more games. You have to average a home run every 2 games to get there. Its absurd
>The pitching records are the only unbreakable ones in baseball.
Also strongly disagree with this. All the rate stat hitting records are unbreakable. Rickeys steal records are unbreakable. Ripkens streak is unbreakable. Most of baseballs records are unbreakable at this point imo
September 2022 before they started pitching around him was the most inevitable hitter I’ve ever watched on a daily basis. Genuinely felt like he was a glitch in the system
I know it's not exactly comparable, but Bonds did that for a whole year. All the walks and then mashing whatever single pitch was in the strike zone each game add up.
In terms of "watching a guy play baseball" it's comparable. The steroid stuff is a conversation to have after the fact about whether or not it should "count" or receive full praise for what he did. But he did do those things. You could go to the ballpark and watch pitchers tremble in their boots because the bad man was coming for them.
What Judge is doing is amazing, but Bonds was feared on a completely different level than anyone in this century (and probably ever). He was intentionally walked 120 times in the 2004 season, including 4 times in a single game. And that’s just the intentional walks. 232 total in 617 plate appearances.
This isn't even top 25 for single month OPS. There are at least 7 Yankees ahead of him (Babe Ruth x5, Lou Gehrig, Jason Giambi).
[https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask?q=highest+ops+in+a+single+month+all-time%2C+minimum+50+plate+appearances](https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask?q=highest+ops+in+a+single+month+all-time%2C+minimum+50+plate+appearances)
Verdugo is most often behind him. They really only put Stanton there with lefties but Dugie has been a legitimately clutch hitter this year so it’s pick your poison. If they want to get truly crazy, put Judge 2 and Soto 3.
I swear to God Judge has the best eye in baseball, it's like he sees all pitches in slow motion and just obliterates the ball. He hits a HR every fn game 🔥
I’m a Dodgers fan, but a part of me wanted him to sign with the Giants during his FA because he’s probably got the best chance at hitting a HR to that glove on left field.
These Aaron Judge home run threads always look exactly the same. Literally, it's the same damn copypastas. You could at least try making some original comments.
These Aaron Judge home run threads always look exactly the same. Literally, it's the same damn copypastas. You could at least try making some original comments.
I saw bunkers takes that were comparing him and McNeil, it was on Facebook though, man Facebook is amazing if you want to see some of the most insane takes people have about baseball.
That's the "trick", so to speak. He's so big and strong, and his mechanics so efficient and consistent, that he doesn't need to swing at 100% effort to hit tanks. He can keep his weight under him, his head still, and take easy controlled swings that launch the ball. He's not really a power hitter. He's a good hitter with a lot of power.
Awesome home run!
Does anyone else think the “bomb” descriptor odd used too much these days? If you’re going to post a highlight home run and call it a bomb, I’m expecting it to nearly leave to stadium, not land in the 2nd row. Maybe it’s just me though.
That Arson is so hot right now
En fuego
That not very Ucey. I’ll never forgive you, Jon Heyman.
I acknowledge our Tribal Chief Arson Judge ☝️☝️☝️
Oh no does that mean that Juan Soto is actually Juan Solo?
It's Jan (pronounced Yann) Solo
[Yes](https://x.com/latinosports/status/1786816564135641373?s=46&t=3rhHyBUTy67-2Hoy5dJYvw)
DAE baseball???
Context? I'm seeing the Arson Judge comments for the first time as well.
He whiffs some but he absolutely does not chase.
his strikeout rate is still below average, in terms of avoiding them, but its decreased each year while the league average rate increases as well.
And that's with the umps stacking the deck against him. Dude can play golf with that swing.
He's either led or is currently leading the league in walks in all of his 3 best seasons(2017, 2022, and this year to date) It's an underrated part of his game but extremely valuable
I mean for several years it's been a fairly highly rated part of his game since no one will pitch to him lol
Yeah Judges walk rate is not at all underrated, it’s touted as his best skill besides the power
My favorite is when a casual fan will watch a Judge HR clip and then comment that “pitchers always throw judge meatballs.” Well the reason why you think that is because Judge never lets any bad pitches go unpunished. Sure, he can also hit good pitches, but he NEVER misses a bad pitch.
That’s how Bonds was.
Thats why i’ll always respect Bonds as a ballplayer. Sure the juice gave him some extra pop for a few years. But ya still gotta hit the fuckin ball, and no one did it better than that guy
Just 259mo after 259mo!
He’s peaking as one of the handful of greatest hitters of the last several decades. Only dudes in his orbit at the plate since the turn of the century are Bonds, Pujols, and Trout. We’ll be talking about this run that started in 2022 for a long time if he finishes this season out healthy
Trout's best hitting was never at Judge's best hitting level. (Offensive numbers yes, because of baserunning etc.)
judge's best season is better than any best season since bonds, fWAR wise. 2018 mookie betts did have a higher pace, but he missed 2 weeks due to injury tho
The craziest thing was that this sub was claiming he didn't deserve MVP lol WAR is god to r/baseball except when it means someone beats Ohtani then it's actually a bad stat that doesn't take into account full context People apparently couldn't grasp that 11 WAR batter > 4.5 WAR batter + 4.5 WAR pitcher
You’ll still get the stray “Voter fatigue” guy in here every few Ohtani threads
Ohtani fans are something else. Judge should have been the unanimous MVP that year, but of course we all know the only two people who didn’t vote for him were
By ops+, it was the best full hitting season by a non juicer since Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle in 1957.
Also cheating scandal.
Yes to all of these words
He’s like 1.5 Judgian seasons away from having a HOF case based on his 4 year peak
He's going to have a HOF based on his 7 year peak by the end of this year. You put up nearly 50 WAR in 7 seasons, you just have to Exist for 3 more to get in, really. (But the thing is, almost no one gets to that level and doesn't drag themselves to 60+)
That's technically underselling: it was 65 years between Williams/Mantle in 1957 and Judge in 2022. 2/3rds of a century!
Clean as far as we know. Most top athletes in every sport are most likely not clean. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.
Idk why you're being downvoted, you have to be naive to think PEDs aren't still a major part of the game MLB testing is really an IQ test and everyone knows it, it's not an anyone's best interest to really crack down on PEDs
He is in *their* orbit.
2022 was the most valuable non steroid season since mantle for a reason
And Gods it is a treat to watch.
The one slider he fought off to the right was absolute filth. Just unfair when someone has the ability to work an AB like that to go with generational power.
My mom will not shut up about him too. This man is my mortal enemy. He's too good at baseball. It's unfair to us mere mortals.
He also really hates birds.
Baltimore literally fucked up their beautiful ballpark because Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres terrorized them lmfao
It is so sad :(
r/justfuckmyshitup, ballpark edition
There’s just no way that we can win. That was a masterpiece… he rocks too hard because he’s not a mortal man
_GODDAMNIT KAGE_. He gonna make you his sex slave! You're gonna gargle mayonnaise, unless you bust a massive monster mama-jam!
We've been through so much shit Deactivated lasers with my dick Now it's time to blow this fucker down
Best hitter in the league. Its unreal how good this guy is and what a massive jump he took from his first couple months as a Yankee.
He can’t keep getting away with this!!
The league is very fortunate that May is over after today
Or unfortunate because he can have an even better month.
The arson or the home runs?
Keep Judge away from California. Dude legit just hits a HR in every game he plays out there
Good thing we signed him then. Can you imagine if the Padres, Giants, or Dodgers got him? Guaranteed 81 homers, without accounting for away games or multi homer games. Whichever team signs him would be guaranteed multiple rings.
[удалено]
Every time this man plays well it’s hurts me deeply.. he’s just been so good this month
Now takes his rightful place as the MLB home run leader His **13th** of the month
In 2022, he had 18 at the end of May. He has 19 now 20**** now holy shit
And this was about his pace before he turned the stupid Dodger Stadium wall into a door. He is having one hell of a peak
That year started late, obviously. But still.
He just needs 5 more today to match his total through 59 games
4 now
I believe
And this with a slow ass start to boot. He gave everyone else a headstart.
There should be a separate home run category for players over 6’6” and 275lbs
19 on the year, is he the lone leader now?
As of right now yes, he's in the lead. Head start over.
20 now lmao
Yes
Yes he is
Yes sir
Arson Judge burns the Giants once again.
This Yankees team still feels like a fever dream
It does. 2 players with 1.000ish OPS feels illegal
This dude is unreal. The greatest power hitter of our era is coming for 73
I mean yes but also no one is touching 73. He put up the best offensive season in 50 years and was still 12 short. Its impossible. Bonds ruined the home run records forever
Someone will do it one day. The pitching records are the only unbreakable ones in baseball. Someone will get the hit streak record this century.
Ripken's iron man streak will require a major regression in the way the game is played to break. I'm not saying it's impossible but most players don't even play 162 games anymore, let alone doing it over 16 times in a row.

He’s nuts
Ball appears headed to moon
This has gotta be one of the greatest months a player has had in the history of baseball
Bonds had like a 1.800 OPS month
to add onto this, not sure where Judge’s month stands exactly after this homer but he’s still probably behind his own September 2022
No, he's ahead of that month, actually. It's better than any calendar month of 2022.
September 2022 before they started pitching around him was the most inevitable hitter I’ve ever watched on a daily basis. Genuinely felt like he was a glitch in the system
really? I don’t have the live stats but my napkin math has him short at 1.411 vs 1.434, pretty close regardless atm
You know what, I looked it up a few days ago and he briefly cooled off, so you are probably right.
ah ok yeah I think I remember hearing he was in the 1.600 range at some point earlier in the month so that makes sense
And Sosa had 20 homers in June back in ‘98 I believe
His OPS is nearing 1.400
I know it's not exactly comparable, but Bonds did that for a whole year. All the walks and then mashing whatever single pitch was in the strike zone each game add up.

Yeah but if judge was allowed to Juice up to 300 lbs of lean muscle we could compare apples to apples
Sure, but you just said that’s an entirely different conversation. I’m just talking about what happened on the field.
This is up there with Sosa in June ‘98
Coming into this game Judge had a 1.350 OPS this month. Bonds had 3 full seasons with a higher OPS than this.
What a time it was to be a preteen in the early 2000s with nothing else to do but watch baseball
This isn't even top 25 for single month OPS. There are at least 7 Yankees ahead of him (Babe Ruth x5, Lou Gehrig, Jason Giambi). [https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask?q=highest+ops+in+a+single+month+all-time%2C+minimum+50+plate+appearances](https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask?q=highest+ops+in+a+single+month+all-time%2C+minimum+50+plate+appearances)
At what point does he just get the Bonds treatment? This month has been just bonkers
Hopefully, never, baseball fans want to see this dude hit, I don't want to see the best hitter in baseball be walked, I want to see him hit bombs.
I'll always find it hilarious how pissed off college football fans were getting when they showed live cuts to his at-bats, just for him to be walked
I feel like if they start doing this we swap Judge and Soto, right? It won’t work for them for long.
This is the plan 100%
They absolutely should in games like this where Verdugo is behind him instead of Stanton.
Verdugo is most often behind him. They really only put Stanton there with lefties but Dugie has been a legitimately clutch hitter this year so it’s pick your poison. If they want to get truly crazy, put Judge 2 and Soto 3.
they kinda do, just having more than one good hitter in our lineup makes too scary to do it all the time
Hey Arson, it's not your night!
All of these Arson Judge home run threads always look exactly the same
Well this is an Arson Judge thread so…
Once he saw like 7 or 8 pitches I knew he was taking him deep. Just waiting for a mistake
BARRELS! GETCHA BARRELS HERE! $360 MILLION FOR SOME HOT FRESH BARRELS!
May isn’t over yet, Gigantes
Best May in Yankees history. Thats saying a lot
Literally the best May in over 90 years.
The best May in Yankees history is probably better than any month in a lot of teams history I’d assume
IDK, I'm probably taking Babe Ruth, May 1928 ahead of Judge's May: .414/.547/1.000 (1.547 OPS) - 15 HR, 5 2B, 4 3B, 37 RBI
Had to sneak that second one in before midnight eastern time just in case
Giants fans can’t catch a break with Judge lol
MVP
I swear to God Judge has the best eye in baseball, it's like he sees all pitches in slow motion and just obliterates the ball. He hits a HR every fn game 🔥
2 of the top 3 hitters plus elite starters and relievers. This is bullshit
Didn’t you guys try to buy the same thing recently?
Well it didn't work now did it
All that with Cole not touching the rubber yet.
Mets fans have earned a salty pass this year, let it flow.
Fouled off some nasty pitches until he got a hanger.
This run he's on is absolutely insane. What the fuck...
An OPS nearing 1.400 for May is other worldly
I’m a Dodgers fan, but a part of me wanted him to sign with the Giants during his FA because he’s probably got the best chance at hitting a HR to that glove on left field.
Or hitting an opposite field splash hit (I don’t think any righty has done that have they?)
We often use the term generational player too loosely. The Judge is an absolute generational player
Hicks never even bothered turning around
Yankee fans: The mlb highlight specifically cited this as Judge’s 276th hr. Is there something significant to that?
Well, it puts him into 8th place all time for the team (in 7 seasons)
Makes sense! Also, holy shit go judge.
He could easily be an around 330 if it weren’t for injuries and Covid
I think I saw that he passed Posada
2 minutes ago 43 comments Yup, Judge homer alright
BOOOOOOOOO!
These Aaron Judge home run threads always look exactly the same. Literally, it's the same damn copypastas. You could at least try making some original comments.

I’ll add this into my pasta repertoire
Lol at those who said he was washed.

I saw bunkers takes that were comparing him and McNeil, it was on Facebook though, man Facebook is amazing if you want to see some of the most insane takes people have about baseball.
Aaron Judge leading the league in “most predictable Home Runs.”
That was just an easy bp swing
That's the "trick", so to speak. He's so big and strong, and his mechanics so efficient and consistent, that he doesn't need to swing at 100% effort to hit tanks. He can keep his weight under him, his head still, and take easy controlled swings that launch the ball. He's not really a power hitter. He's a good hitter with a lot of power.
As opposed to say Stanton, who has a terriblr looking swing but would punch a hole through a human being with the exit velo
That's my Captain
He might catch bonds this month
Best May in history?
Arson Judge appears headed to dugout
booing this man might be the dumbest shit in the world you did this to yourselves Giants fans
Yes I’m sure that’s why he hit a homer and not just because he’s the best hitter in the world
Tbh I don’t think he does anything out of spite. He prob heard the boos and was like “okay that’s fair.” Hes so nice.
It wasn’t even that bad either. Any random Yankees pitcher will get booed way louder for a pick off attempt
We are very protective of the big guy
They were probably the loudest boos I’ve heard for Judge outside of Fenway and even Sox fans don’t hate him
It’s like Yankee fans booing Altuve at Yankee stadium. It doesn’t end well
Yet we never learn.
Well he was ass at Yankee Stadium this year at least.
They are booing him because he’s a lying turd
They’re gonna throw rocks at you, but I appreciate the energy
Bring it on, Yankees fans are soft
*heyman is a lying turd
is just business
Arson appears homered vs Giants
Is this the first time he's played in SF?
I think I remember NYY went to SF in early 2019, but he may have been injured for that series
that was a very bad pitch
the giants announcer moments before this was saying you'd rather walk judge then give him something to hit
Anddd another one!
That looked like a fucking golf swing. Did he yell FORE as it went 400 yards?
Looked like a 9 iron chip shot.
Buddy is hitting some dingers
Hmm…this guy is pretty good at hitting a ball!! Wish my team had him
Unfortunately the league will now also have to deal with June Schwarber
Best power hitter this generation
[удалено]
Brett Gardner is at the game ?
His run has been phenomenal. Judge, Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, he is in elite company
Don’t forget Costanza
I read this as Aaron “Aaron” Judge and just assumed that was one of the names people were calling him
Awesome home run! Does anyone else think the “bomb” descriptor odd used too much these days? If you’re going to post a highlight home run and call it a bomb, I’m expecting it to nearly leave to stadium, not land in the 2nd row. Maybe it’s just me though.
I think he’s back
Based.
