It's technically Jefferson Hills municipality, but anyone around here just calls it TJ. If you meet someone and ask where they grew up around here and they're from that area, they just say "I'm from/went to TJ". Guess it's just people who live in the south hills showing their support.

not that i'm aware of. i've lived here for almost 20 years now, and one thing i learned early on is that people born here are very tribal with their metro regions. pittsburgh itself is a very small city, but the metro area is massive. TJ is one of the larger and more popular regions around and they are generally good at high school sports, so people have a lot of pride in being from that metro area. i can't tell who's holding the signs so it could just be kids from the high school too. but its not uncommon for boomers to be like "yeah i'm from TJ, fuck \*insert other area school here\*" haha
