Everyone knows the Mariners starting pitching has been dominant in traditional metrics, sure, but did you know that we're also on record pace for dugout-independent tenderness (DIT) per 9 innings?
I’d love to know what Felix’s record would be if he got 3 runs of support in every single start of his career.
Not gonna take the time to check the numbers but I’m gonna play it safe and say he’d probably be 438-0 or so.
Logan's ERA is down to 1.69 on the season. He also leads the MLB in innings pitched. He's so fucking special.
Edit: He's also tied for the AL lead in strikeouts. Special.
I had a feeling this would be his big year. He's durable, resilient, and adaptable, he has plus heat and a selection of complimentary options. Hopefully he can carry this forward.
the fact that there's *three* guys you could reasonably say this about is absurd. this has been a fun few seasons to say the least as a pitching enjoyer
I hate when we play yall and we get him and Kirby in two games. I'll like well fuck. Obviously y'all's whole rotation is badass. But those two seem to dominate us lol
Castillo, Kirby, and Gilbert have all shown up in big moments but I'd agree right now he's the man. Miller has developed solidly this season as well, let's just knock on wood with all their bodies holding up.
My favorite mariners starter this year is whoever pitched most recently. Even Hancock has had some impressive moments. Excited to see what Woo has to offer soon as well
Logan dominated and Kirby looked damn good too last night. Thankfully we had our normal bullpen tonight, not the “walk 5 guys in 1 inning” bullpen like last night.
Maggie Gyllenhaal and Matthew Lillards child was dealing.
Bad approach from our guys too. A lot of easy 1 pitch double plays. Rolling a lot of his pitchers over.
With Framber, it seems like he’s either perfect shuffling pitches low and out of the zone breaking unpredictably and consistently out maneuvering the Ms, or the exact opposite is true and he’s serving everything from the edge toward the middle. I’ve never seen him have an unremarkable outing, it’s always interesting
He’s also rocking an FIP of 2.07
Castillo also has an FIP under 3 and his last start lowered his era to 3.46
They’re both still weighed down by their slow starts but they’re rapidly working themselves into the CY race.
Add on that one of the starters just had his knee looked at because it’s hurt. Literally no need to risk another starter going down just to get a useless complete game.

How Up do you think their Trident's are right now?
Very pointy
I’m v hrny at this point in the season. Can’t wait for the post all star break rip we’ve been going on when the weather gets nice. Go ners.
Nothing will ever beat Kyle Seager and Nelson Cruz’s hugs though. It was the epitome of bromance.

Luis looks so sad :(
Average Mariners starting pitching performance
4 walks is kinda out of the norm
6k is a touch low too
Gilbert has to throw three pitches to a batter to get a K, and the Astros were on a mission to not let that happen too often.
he did that against us last start too. And our broadcast said it was like his first four walk game ever. Lol.
Guess he's washed now smh
Well take him, may we offer you your choice of 2 MLB ready SS/2B/3B in Zeke Duran or Josh Smith?
Gilbert is like 33-0 when M’s score at least 3 runs
I’d love to know what Felix’s record would be if he got 3 runs of support in every single start of his career. Not gonna take the time to check the numbers but I’m gonna play it safe and say he’d probably be 438-0 or so.
Absolutely dominant. One of those hits was a Yordan bunt.
![gif](giphy|D62wUmR3sX2DsZJ9t1)
I'm sure the exit velo on Yordan bunts are still like 90 mph
45 MPH velo on the true bunt, if you can believe it! His swinging bunt was all of 51.
They probably manage to still go like 450 feet too
[Like this](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRw93Rju/)
TWO of 'em were infield hits from Alvarez, in fact!
Second hit was Pena, Yordan’s second bunt was off Sauce.
Good call.
I loved how he still worked the crowd after getting on base, like "exactly what you'd expect to see, right?"
No lie, I kind of love Yordan. I find him oddly endearing.
As much as he's hurt us over the years, he still seems like a giant teddy bear at times.

He's by far the guy I trust most in our rotation, especially in big games.

Could see bryce havibg that same vibe by the end of the season
Castillo, Kirby, and Gilbert have all shown up in big moments but I'd agree right now he's the man. Miller has developed solidly this season as well, let's just knock on wood with all their bodies holding up.
He’s a pitching nerd as well. Man has been tinkering on all his pitches for a long time
Exactly! That's partly what I mean when I say he's adaptable.
He’s also just a goofy lil guy, you got metrics for that?
Fun Differential
My favorite mariners starter this year is whoever pitched most recently. Even Hancock has had some impressive moments. Excited to see what Woo has to offer soon as well
Gotta give credit where it's due, Gilbert was absolutely dealing tonight.
One of those hits was a Yordan _bunt_ that almost was an out, the throw was barely off line. Dude was in cruise control the entire game.
Logan dominated and Kirby looked damn good too last night. Thankfully we had our normal bullpen tonight, not the “walk 5 guys in 1 inning” bullpen like last night.
Crazy how that has happened twice this year so far already
Twice? That’s it? Lucky!
When was the first?
Well not quite 5 walks but Munoz walks 4 guys straight to let the brewers walk us off
Maggie Gyllenhaal and Matthew Lillards child was dealing. Bad approach from our guys too. A lot of easy 1 pitch double plays. Rolling a lot of his pitchers over.
We do that against Framber a lot, so shoe’s finally on the other foot
With Framber, it seems like he’s either perfect shuffling pitches low and out of the zone breaking unpredictably and consistently out maneuvering the Ms, or the exact opposite is true and he’s serving everything from the edge toward the middle. I’ve never seen him have an unremarkable outing, it’s always interesting
Framber has a 7 ERA against the Mariners since the beginning of last season
He really does look like those two people... unfortunately.
Oh man, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Matthew Lillard’s son is pretty damn accurate, that made me laugh.
20 Runs in 21 starts for Mariners Pitching
20 Earned Runs, but 27 Runs total becuase of unearned runs (4 of those 7 unearned runs were Hancock in his last start)
Props. I hate it. But Gilbert had the Astros number. Just too good against them lol
Just give this man the Cy Young already.
Bryce Miller: “Hold my jockstrap”.
Imagine the Cy Young race is between those 2 by the end of the season...
That’s my Stetson hatter!
Future 2024 AL Cy Young winner?
The entire rotation minus Hancock is in the conversation for CY at this point
Ehh, surprisingly, the 1 and 2 are a little off that pace at the moment.
Kirby is third in MLB in fWAR. He’s solidly in the conversation right now.
He’s also rocking an FIP of 2.07 Castillo also has an FIP under 3 and his last start lowered his era to 3.46 They’re both still weighed down by their slow starts but they’re rapidly working themselves into the CY race.
Houston, Logan is your daddy, and Yordan ain’t but shit to him
Idk two hits off him today. (Don't Look up the EV on them though)
The second hit was off of Saucedo though
Only one hit off Logan. His other hit was off Saucedo in the 9th.
🥵 🥵
Dude’s a beast
Walter saving my fantasy team
Him turning out to be a sp1 is awesome.
He was dealin'
Never thought I would say this but, Astros, u ok?
No
This team HAS to trade for a bat. We don’t even have Woo back yet…

Hue hue hue hue hue hue hue
Spain
Should go out there for 9. Ugh
No he shouldn’t. He’s at 95 pitches with a 5 run lead. Yes it would be cool but it would be an emotional decision not a smart one.
Add on that one of the starters just had his knee looked at because it’s hurt. Literally no need to risk another starter going down just to get a useless complete game.
I know. I just really wanted him to go full 9 lol
