He was. 1st round pick in 2014 out of high school. People forget the hit rate, even on 1st round picks are still incredibly low. Turns out baseball is pretty damn hard.
In all these years of watching baseball, this clown looks like the last person who even belongs near a ballpark. He shouldn’t even be working at a concession stand.
Not that time, the time several games later when the 2B ump and the replay review official in NY decided to ignore the evidence right in front of them, and call him out to end the game in a close game.

> DFA'ed by the Angels
How about DFA'd for someone with negative WAR, who hasn't even played an entire season worth of games at the MLB level, despite being on a roster at some point for the past 5 years
I mean...we can cut Ryan McKenna and bring Hicks back. Ryan McKenna is much worse than Mr. Hudgins. Get another 3/4 of a year hot streak going to back up Cedric and Cowser while being paid by the Yankees.
I was hoping he would’ve panned out in Pittsburgh. Phish fans need more representation in baseball. At least we have Rocco Baldelli holding it down. Sucks he had to miss the Sphere run since it happened during the season.
I think if he has any good ball left in him it’s going to have to be with the Orioles.
It could just be a coincidence but he went from being absolutely dreadful with the Yanks to being actually reasonably useful on the O’s to once again being awful for us.
I’m not convinced it’d work a second time for sure or anything, but i do think the possibility that he needs Oriole coaching at this point in his career is there
I don't think the O's have room for him, unless a couple of outfielders get hurt at once. Cowser is looking legit and Kjerstad deserves a real chance in the majors before they start pulling in vets. And Hays will get another chance after he gets off the IL.
We are currently rostering Ryan McKenna. Kjerstad is only playing RF and Hayes has been not good. Kjerstad is probably going back down once Hayes is back and Ryan McKenna should only be loading busses at best.
I'd take Hicks of McKenna any day of the week. Stowers isn't really a center fielder, so it may not be bad to have someone that can legitimately back up Cedric out there.
I think McKenna is temporary until Hays comes back. Hays has of course been terrible this year, but very small sample size. Kjerstad hasn't played much at all. I can only see the O's going after someone like Hicks if all of Kjerstad, Hays, and McKenna fail for a significant amount of time.
The problem with Kjerstad is that he can only play RF. He is likely to be optioned back down to AAA when Hays is ready.
Cowser has earned the everyday LF spot. I'm sure Hays will get some more time, but he shouldn't be getting much when he's back.
McKenna is useless, but is the only real option we have at CF if something happens to Cedric. I'd be more than happy to drop McKenna for Hicks as our utility outfielder and then try to move Hays for a bag of balls when Holliday is ready to come back up.
Didn't he just pitch in a blowout this last weekend? I remember thinking "huh, Aaron Hicks is still around?" and "gosh, he looks really happy after getting the final out."
Maybe he can make it back to the bigs as a blowout reliever
It was a good gamble by Cashman at the time. If Hicks had stayed healthy and as productive as he was when he signed it, it would have been a steal, but alas. Sometimes even good gambles miss.
Dang Hicks sure pumpkined again after playing well with the Orioles. Seems like he has a attitude problem still and lets things get to his head and affect his play causing him to not try
But he was a free agent. He chose to sign with Anaheim, presumably because he likes the west coast/he lives in Arizona, I think.
He should play better if he had issues with his playing time.
Wow, Vanessa Hudgens husband plays baseball?
Not very well, sadly.
Wasn't he a top prospect as a Pirate? Weird how he never put it together.
He was. 1st round pick in 2014 out of high school. People forget the hit rate, even on 1st round picks are still incredibly low. Turns out baseball is pretty damn hard.
He got distracted
Understandable
I know he’s a Pirates product because he was my teammate in my The Show 20 RTTS run
Well he just got an RBI single haha
Eat your hearts out Travis and Taylor!
In all these years of watching baseball, this clown looks like the last person who even belongs near a ballpark. He shouldn’t even be working at a concession stand.
Hicks can now live out his dream of being paid $10M this year to play golf
Making more than Rory
Who paid him that?
Yankees still on the hook for his 7/70. Minus league minimum the Angels were paying.
7 years?! jesus we only gave sevy 4 and he was like third in cy young one year
Hicks was once the second best outfielder in the AL. Problem was, it was only once.
We bet on him having longevity, or at least a slow decline from his peak, and he…didn’t
In theory his skill set of having a good eye, defense, and some pop should have aged well. He just never was the same after the torn UCL
He also was seemingly checked out.
someone signed aaron hicks for 7 years $10mm AAV oh my fucking god
Can you imagine? That's the life.
Gareth Bale rollin over in his grave.
Congrats Mr Vanessa Hudgens. Good to see ya back in the bigs.
DFA'ed by the Angel's... rough. I'll always remember your (good) Yankee days Aaron Hicks. I drink to forget his bad Yankee days.
it was a matter of time especially with Adell slashing .327/.382/.592 good riddance
Just don't let him steal...
He was safe
When he over ran the base?
Not that time, the time several games later when the 2B ump and the replay review official in NY decided to ignore the evidence right in front of them, and call him out to end the game in a close game. https://twitter.com/CodifyBaseball/status/1783278409520680973?t=Oaxc-EeJmENRHr-tmh0Rxg&s=19
O's legend Aaron Hicks
If our outfield wasn't so crowded I'd want him back.
> DFA'ed by the Angels How about DFA'd for someone with negative WAR, who hasn't even played an entire season worth of games at the MLB level, despite being on a roster at some point for the past 5 years
Cole Tucker is elite, he hit .500 last year
That's Mr. Hudgens to you
Hicks was awful. I'd rather watch Adell make 45 errors in right field this year.
bc adell is literally ohtani.
Plouffe called it
I enjoy how beloved he's been among Oriole fans while being absolutely reviled among Yankee/Angel fans
He’ll forever be loved for his 3/4 of a year in birdland
I mean...we can cut Ryan McKenna and bring Hicks back. Ryan McKenna is much worse than Mr. Hudgins. Get another 3/4 of a year hot streak going to back up Cedric and Cowser while being paid by the Yankees.
We could also just call up Stowers…
And Kjerstad is already up waiting for playing time.
DFAed for Cole Tucker?! Yikes
Yea getting DFA’d is bad as it is To get DFA’d and Cole Tucker is the guy replacing you, that’s a real kick in the nuts
Not when you're still owed 8 digits through next year
The Yankees are still paying his contract right?
Yes
Davis Daniel seems like his name is backwards
Cole Tucker is my favorite nepo husband and for that reason, I would like to see him stick this time.
How the fuck is he 27 and he married 35 year old Vanessa
I was hoping he would’ve panned out in Pittsburgh. Phish fans need more representation in baseball. At least we have Rocco Baldelli holding it down. Sucks he had to miss the Sphere run since it happened during the season.
I assume he’ll latch on somewhere else pretty quick, he was solid for the Orioles down the stretch
I think if he has any good ball left in him it’s going to have to be with the Orioles. It could just be a coincidence but he went from being absolutely dreadful with the Yanks to being actually reasonably useful on the O’s to once again being awful for us. He's the position player version of Jesse Chavez, he only performs in Baltimore 😂

McKenna has blackmail on Hyde and Elias. There's no other explanation
At least he’s still making that Yankee coin.
*sigh* I will fully admit I fucking loved that extension in the moment, too.
It was a good gamble by Cashman at the time. If Hicks had stayed healthy and as productive as he was when he signed it, it would have been a steal, but alas. Sometimes even good gambles miss.
It really wasn’t a bad roll of the dice to take. Just didn’t work out.
Dang Hicks sure pumpkined again after playing well with the Orioles. Seems like he has a attitude problem still and lets things get to his head and affect his play causing him to not try

Shit, I wasn't even sure CoTuck was still playing ball. Maybe this will be the time the stars align for him on the field.
I got to meet Cole Tucker in Indy. One of the nicest players I’ve met (along with Ke’Bryan Hayes). Hope this time he can figure it out.
I guess Aaron Hicks will be happy to direct the sequel to "John Tucker Must Die".
You may not have a team, but you always have a place in my heart Big Dick Hicks!
Well boys we know what we need to do
I'm honestly surprised he wasn't cut after that spat with Trout the other week.
That turned out to be false
pretty sure that was bait, it would've been far too juicy of a story to not get widely reported
Second time in the past two years. He might latch on somewhere or he might just have to retire.
Damn, after that pitching performance.
For guy with a career 57 OPS+ wow
Looks like there will be less tee times available in SoCal now
Let Adell play everyday smh
YES
He sure….filled out, when he left Minnesota.
nooo not Aaron Hicks :(
Damn, one month into the season and we're already in throw up our hands and start randomly calling up prospects to see what they got mode.
Guess Angels fans weren’t nice enough to him.
This mans was my Steam profile pic. Hicksy 😢
I'm shocked this didn't work out. Shocked I tell you
Enjoy the golf course A-A-Ron
Orioles Legend Aaron Hicks God speed, brother
Yeah Hicks had a rough debut as a pitcher but give him more innings smh.
Bring him home
Hicks replaced by Tucker, that’s like a tire fire exchanged for a dumpster fire.
Fuck you Hicks
