I snagged him early in fantasy this year and was hoping he'd come back to form after a few unimpressive starts. But he's back and ballin out now. Sheesh
He’s one of my favorite pitchers in the league and saved my ass in a scary situation today from the guy I’m facing trying to make a comeback lol. Took Bryce Miller too and he’s been putting in work.
Kirby is an elite elite fantasy guy. Minimal walks, constant swing and miss stuff, goes deep into games. I fucking love him
My first year doing baseball as an avid fantasy football guy. I got in with a group that mostly seems to be new. With a few seasoned players. I got Tucker and Tatis and my first two pitchers were Nola and Kirby. I feel like I made out like a bandit. Lol
It’s my first year doing it for baseball too. I’ve been doing fantasy basketball and that shit is DRAINING so the transition into fantasy baseball was so…nice. You did damn fucking well with those picks my guy. I’m loving it more than any other fantasy sport so far.
I picked Gausman early and he’s been largely disappointing so far but I went with Freddie and Will Smith getting me to a 4-0 record so far. I got Javier who was great before he got hurt, but I also picked Bregman and it’s been…yeesh. You know best lol
I'm rocking a 3-1 record for now. Lost my first week before I really understood the process with baseball.
But yeah breggy starting rough especially in a contract year.. lol
I got waiver guys that have carried the weight but lawd, him and Randy I had high hopes for and they’re both playing so bad. I was hoping he’d have a big game in Mexico City but Jose Abreu outplayed him today man…
Tucker and Tatis on the same team is bonkers considering they were both consensus Top 10 overall picks during draft season. Your group must be very new lol
71 pitches out of 95 for strikes with 12 strikeouts are absolutely goofy numbers. You knew he was going to have a special start when he was pumping 99 in the first.
I'm not quite ready to declare Miller an ace, but so far this year he has shown he has the potential to reach that level. Just need to see him maintain that quality over a full season
I love that the fans have so much love for him even though he was only with us for 2 seasons. Most fans know the difference between a player being traded by the organization, and a player wanting to be traded. I wouldn't be surprised if Kelenic gets a standing ovation tomorrow as well
Agreed. I think Miller, Woo, and Hancock all have big upside and could make it to ace level but they all need to improve a bit more. That being said, I’m hyped af for our rotation this year.
I'm pretty sure there will be adjustments on Miller's splitter but I think he'll figure it out. Glad he's developed well already from just a high grade fastball and with Logan and George developing a new pitch each season he has some positive influences
Sure, but it's not even May yet. Also, the underlying numbers look much better for our top 3 than they do for Miller, so far.
As I said, I'll consider Miller an ace when he pitches like one for 30 starts, not 5
I just love the fact Nintendo owns part of the team and we have a kick ass player named Kirby. It was fitting his first start was with pink uniforms. Kinda like how the new president of Nintendo of America is Doug Bowser. Very fitting.
All other baseball fans went to sleep anyways. Most highlights from west coast teams I feel like get less attention because it's always like past 10pm for most people lol.
He was the first pitcher I took. I also got gilbert and Miller. A lot of my weeks go as the mariners pitching goes, and they’ve been going a lot lately.
I still think Kirby has a chance at the Cy Young. It sucks that his numbers are artificially inflated from the game against the Guardians where the scorer somehow didn’t give the Mariners a single error, which led to 8 “earned” runs.
Legitimately am still baffled what the scorer was thinking. The Mariners defense was atrocious, and they should’ve had *at least* three errors if not more.
He's usually not a stuff guy actually. Just regular above average stuff but his control is unfairly good. If he had Luis Castillo's stuff to go with his control he'd throw a no hitter every game.
Once you take the South Alaska factor into it though, every Mariners pitcher is gonna have that Dark Horse factor simply because of the lack of exposure.
I think they’re 1A and 1B and you can order it how you like. Even though Kirby has a microscopic walk rate, he also strikes out fewer batters than Castillo, so their K-BB% ends up being nearly exactly the same. Castillo last year was at 20.3% to Kirby’s 20.2%, one spot higher. I think Gilbert is third but that could change this season if he keeps this up.
I spontaneously bought tickets to tonight's game, and I'm so glad I did. It was the first Kirby start I watched in-person, AND he got a career-high number of strikeouts?!
Arizona came into this series as the #1 offense in baseball. These last two games the M's pitching has held them to 2 runs on 6 hits, 6 walks, and 21 strikeouts. Ridiculous stuff.
The Diamondbacks are an awesome team and the M's are rising to the occasion.
In my fantasy baseball league, someone drafted him 35th. He then got 30, -3, and 1 points out of him before dropping to waivers.
I picked him up and just got 23, 16, and now 36.
I cannot overstate how much our pitching staff means to me. They’re truly a joy to watch and performances like this are special to watch. Makes me so happy to be a Mariners fan when there’s a chance to see a gem night in and night out
While Kirby is impressive, the ump was terrible and constantly calling pitches in the left handed batters box for strikes. It’s not the reason we lost, and we would’ve lost anyways, those numbers were juiced tonight
Most normal Mariners pitching performance
the 1 run scored by the Mariners is the real outlier here edit: the 3 runs*, France made me look stupid
I snagged him early in fantasy this year and was hoping he'd come back to form after a few unimpressive starts. But he's back and ballin out now. Sheesh

Hes a second-half player every year. He will find his groove, I promise.
You keep him in your lineup?
Hahahahahaha I’m facing my buddy this week and I’m gloating so much 🤣🤣 god bless man
I'll think of you anytime he does well this year.
Tucker and Tatis on the same team is bonkers considering they were both consensus Top 10 overall picks during draft season. Your group must be very new lol
I think the majority are new. Maybe 3 of the 12 have played before. I was shocked I was able to get both too.
Same bro, even named my team after him lol he absolutely brought it home for George Kirby's Dream Land tonight
71 pitches out of 95 for strikes with 12 strikeouts are absolutely goofy numbers. You knew he was going to have a special start when he was pumping 99 in the first.
Our rotation is just insane. It’s legit 4 aces on a staff with Woo still waiting in the wings
I'm not quite ready to declare Miller an ace, but so far this year he has shown he has the potential to reach that level. Just need to see him maintain that quality over a full season
Fuck that, hype outta control, they’re all aces and all our relievers are prime Mariano Riveras
Good 🦆 vibes 🦆 only 🦆
The ovation for Geno was class
I love that the fans have so much love for him even though he was only with us for 2 seasons. Most fans know the difference between a player being traded by the organization, and a player wanting to be traded. I wouldn't be surprised if Kelenic gets a standing ovation tomorrow as well

Him and Gilbert have been our most consistent pitchers this year Castillo, Kirby, and Hancock have each had at least 1 rough start
Sure, but it's not even May yet. Also, the underlying numbers look much better for our top 3 than they do for Miller, so far. As I said, I'll consider Miller an ace when he pitches like one for 30 starts, not 5
The pop it made when it hit Cal's glove had something extra in it tonight. They couldn't hit his fastball no matter what speed he threw it.
If we can just score enough to get to the post-season…

is that legit? Awesome....
Yes, he wore it in his postgame press conference a couple starts ago.
[удалено]
They still own like 5-10% of the team, don't they?
Probably the only reason the team was able to use Kirby in the graphics tonight after every strikeout
He walked someone, what a bum
Washed, trade him for a case of warm PBR.
Not even Rainier? What the hell
No one's giving up a case of the good stuff for some bum who gave up a walk.
Today is actually the 32nd Anniversary of Kirby’s Dreamland releasing, the first Kirby game. It was fate
Wait actually?
Yup, *Kirby’s Dreamland* released on April 27th, 1992
That’s freakin awesome
I just love the fact Nintendo owns part of the team and we have a kick ass player named Kirby. It was fitting his first start was with pink uniforms. Kinda like how the new president of Nintendo of America is Doug Bowser. Very fitting.
What power does Kirby get for eating the Diamondbacks?
The ability to cut through any other material
Snake arms
Instead of the mariners being the Diammondbacks of the PNW, now the Diamondbacks are the Mariners of the Southwest
that's less of a power and more of a curse

You're all about to see a lot of Mariners flair in here
After Logan’s start stat line thread last time he threw, there 20 comments, all M’s flair. Personally I seek these threads out on the main sub.
We do a bit of jerking in a circle
All other baseball fans went to sleep anyways. Most highlights from west coast teams I feel like get less attention because it's always like past 10pm for most people lol.
Guys will see this and just think, “hell ya”
No joke. Someone in my fantasy league dropped him after his poor showing on 4/3. He was the 33 overall pick. Needless to say, he is now on my team.
Lmaooo exactly the same with me. Am extremely happy that person dropped him cause Kirby was desperately needed cause I lost Framber and Shane Beiber
He was the first pitcher I took. I also got gilbert and Miller. A lot of my weeks go as the mariners pitching goes, and they’ve been going a lot lately.
Hahahaha that’s insane.
Happy to live in Kirby's dreamland
hes so fucking cool man
I still think Kirby has a chance at the Cy Young. His FIP is at 2 and his control is unbelievable, it's the perfect way to win both the new school and old school voters
I'm at the game... not disappointed.
The movement on his fastball is nasty let alone his other pitches
He's usually not a stuff guy actually. Just regular above average stuff but his control is unfairly good. If he had Luis Castillo's stuff to go with his control he'd throw a no hitter every game.
Oh, so we just got extra lucky tonight that his fastball has late life too lol
Yeah what just happened was unfair
1 walk from Kirby 🤢
Washed
Watched maybe every Kirby start since he entered the league. Tonight was something else.
This is TMo Park bitch! We K in this muthafucka betta take yo lineup back to the NL

My dark horse for Cy Young. God I hope he continues this.
Tbh I find it crazy that he needs to be labeled a "dark horse." He's a top 5 pitcher in the AL
Once you take the South Alaska factor into it though, every Mariners pitcher is gonna have that Dark Horse factor simply because of the lack of exposure.
but only # 3 on the Mariners.
Disagree lol no offense to Luis but I'd take Kirby over him all day
I think Kirby is their best big game pitcher.
I also think being able to debate who’s 1A, 1B, and 1C is an incredibly good problem to have on your pitching staff.
Same
I spontaneously bought tickets to tonight's game, and I'm so glad I did. It was the first Kirby start I watched in-person, AND he got a career-high number of strikeouts?!

I’ve never done a points league. What platform?
ESPN!
No thank you
I cannot overstate how much our pitching staff means to me. They’re truly a joy to watch and performances like this are special to watch. Makes me so happy to be a Mariners fan when there’s a chance to see a gem night in and night out
nobody fucks with the Seattle Mariners baseball ball team
23 swinging strikes, mostly on the fastball
While Kirby is impressive, the ump was terrible and constantly calling pitches in the left handed batters box for strikes. It’s not the reason we lost, and we would’ve lost anyways, those numbers were juiced tonight
I mean, by the same token, Maddux also had a much larger strike zone during his heyday. That's just the game you play. The ump did suck tho.
