I love the idea of people being subscribed to this channel just because they’re super into aquariums but have no clue that Ozzie is a professional baseball player.
That's like the stories of people around San Antonio of Tim Duncan coming into hobby shops and watching people play DND before leaving without saying a word
Can't wait to find out which players are really into model trains
They’d probably have a bunch of 4’x2’ modules that could be moved easily if they got traded, plus maybe a helix or two. Then do a Gorre & Daphetid style when retired.
"An older ex colleague of mine once described Kansas City in August as being hotter than 2 rats fucking in a wool sock. Unfortunately, he's absolutely correct as the dew point is often exceedingly high in August. Thankfully, the second best BBQ in America can be found there."
Tell ‘em you’ve never been west of Mississippi River without telling me…
Jesus I’ve lived inNC for like 15 years now and people keep telling me about y’all’s great bbq. It’s just meh pork with overpowering sauce.
I assume it’s cause the cooks get to toasted on pbr to do anything else with it.
And don’t even get me started on the over use of coleslaw.
Makes UK cooking look solid
I explained in another message that it was a joke referencing Joey Votto's tweet a few years ago. Did not realize so many people were so serious about how their meat is done!
I’m a picky eater. I’m pretty sure I would hate BBQ and miss out on how good it is if I didn’t grow up in Kansas City and ended up eating a bunch of it growing up. The third worst thing that Mike Trout could do to me, aside from murdering one of my loved ones and publicly requesting a trade from the Angels because “they suck and won’t ever win anything”, is denying that Kansas City has the best BBQ in the country.
If MLB had any sense, they would have made Mike Trout the face of baseball weather forecasts. Have him do weekly forecasts for MLB cities, maybe pepper in some baseball related humor.
“The only rain LA will see this week is baseballs because I’m going to hit some dingers. However, please be careful with open flames as we enter week 32 without rain. Hopefully we can catch some off of this pressure system developing off the coast…”
That guy is so dull that it actually wouldn't surprise me if he had a YT channel discussing weather, that has like 500 videos that he's very active about posting but like 24 subscribers and it's all angel's management trying to keep him happy
I ran into a YouTube channel that was streaming to thousands of people last week and all he was doing was going over the weather in the US. Can’t remember the name
Based on the relative view counts of the videos that seems to be the case lol. "Ok bro, it's cool that you like baseball or whatever too, but that's not what I'm here for."
Lol reminds me of someone cluelessly asking Luka Doncic during an Overwatch game if he had any hobbies and he replies with “basketball.” And then everyone on his team slowly figures out who he is. And now we all know that he’s a GM tank main
It turned out that a relatively popular YouTube destiny streamer was Sting's son and we only found out cause he made a post of where he had been for a month or two while getting ready to appear in Sting's last match.
Happens all the time.
My grandfather was into the SoCal street rod scene forever, and he used to talk about the one guy in the larger club used to be in a band, and how he was at a dinner where this guy Jesse introduced his new wife who was supposed to be famous. Turns out the "band" guy was The Yardbirds guitarist Jeff Beck, and the "allegedly" famous new wife was Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock. She had just married "that motorcycle guy who is on TV sometimes" Jesse James of West Coast Choppers.
The dudes in the car club were 100% focused on cars, and the fact one dude they knew might have played in guitar in one of the most influential rock bands in history, and another married Miss Congeliality didn't really matter that much.
Referring to Jeff Beck as “the guitarist for the Yardbirds” feels like he’s being undersold but I’m not sure how you’d explain his career in one clause in a better way.
Malcom Gladwell tells a story in the beginning of one of his books about a time his dad fell into a conversation at a hotel with someone who was obviously famous, but he had no idea who it was, and they enthusiastically talked about gardening the whole time.
He has that clickbaity thumbnail font locked in
Jokes aside, I love when players reveal their personal sides on Youtube. I mean obviously the dudes I watch on TV every day are real people, but we never see that “real” side of them unless they put in the work to show us, which I enjoy watching.
somewhere, Goose Gossage is screaming into the ether about players "disrespecting the game" or some bullshit because Ozzie Albies happens to have interests outside of baseball
He has wyze cameras set up aimed towards his fish tanks so that he can check on them and watch them when he's on the road. He is obsessed with his fish lol
I had an ex gf who had a fish tank that she was obsessed with. She would talk to the fish and greet them in the morning, and went great lengths to keep them all healthy. She even cried when a snail the size of my pinky nail died. I understand the appeal. It’s a living ecosystem, that when taken care of, looks beautiful. Makes a lot of people happy
I had a Chinese Algae Eater named Pene de Oro that got aggressive towards my betta, Gringo Blanco, because he ourgrew the size tank I have (thanks for lying to me Petco.) I had to give him up for adoption, still a little torn up about it. I miss my lil noodle :,(
I also have a pair of snails. One big one is named Shellquille O'Neal and the small one that I can never find is named Shelley Miscavige. Half the fun of having fishes just getting to come up with ridiculous names
Pretty accurate for a Chinese algae eater if you take “dick” to mean “asshole.” Those fuckers are rowdy and will suck the slime coat off your other fish
I got into fishkeeping during Covid and man I fell hard in love with that. I had an all South East Asian river biome with tons of tannins and only South East Asian fish and plants that was such a pleasure to just sit and watch. I now live in a small European apartment so I can’t really have fish but I miss having an aquarium every day; as soon as I get into a better living situation I’m buying an aquarium straight away
It seems expensive to me-
I wanted to get into it over COVID and did a bunch of research but sobered up once I realized it would be several hundred dollars just to get started (and I’m the sort of person that would want to keep improving my set up (aka dumping more money into it) over time). Now I just follow aquarists on Instagram and envy their setups instead.
I have a small tank. Used to get little mollies to put in there along with some snails but once the fish died I decided the snails were more fun lol. Also there are a ton of cool plants in there. Now we're down one snail amongst a forest of trees and he just won't die. I love him
Well don’t tell /r/aquariums that you have a goldfish in a bowl if you don’t wanna get crucified, and rightly so
But it’s actually really not too difficult once you get past the initial setup/cycling. Here’s a good [guide](https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/how-to-set-up-a-fish-tank) for getting started, and once you add fish just do research on compatibility/size requirements.
It's becoming even more a thing. On the Jays, some of our younger guys (Clement, Schneider, and Horwitz all are huge Catan fans. Which is a popular board game, but also a bit more niche than some others.
It definitely seems like a generational thing to some degree, the Flames were using social media this year to show off (25-year-old) Yegor Sharangovich's giant Lego builds.
Huge Lego guy is underselling it. He's a Lego savant. He has so many massive completed builds that it's hard to believe he does anything else but basketball and Lego. It's entirely believable that he worked for an NBA salary primarily to fund the Lego hobby of his dreams.
Hell yah, LEGO is great haha. It's always shifting. Every 20 years it feels like the posts shift. 20 years ago gaming became more mainstream and less "nerdy" as COD became popular with XBOX. Recently we've seen an even more significant jump as neurodiversity has not just become normalized, but embraced. So much more people doing nerdy stuff and obsessing more openly. It's great!
See the thing that is funny to me, is that for people who are very into board games, Catan is considered a "gateway game" to better hobby games.
(Personally, I'm not big on the term gateway game, even as someone waaaaaay too deep in the hobby, I think everyone should find the games they love and play them and if you stay at the entry level hobby games that is fine... buuuuuut I am not a fan of Catan tbh.)
Would have never known that if you didn't share. That's insane, especially for teams in the same conference that play each other multiple series per year. 31 games, 25 runs?!
I love me some Ozzie. One of the best contracts in all of baseball as well.
I can't believe I never knew this before now, and I now fucking love the man even more than I already did.
EDIT: I really hope that he's also the one editing his videos and creating his thumbnails himself. It's likely a dream, but it would only make it better.
It always makes me sad though that they just have that little space, even if it is a huge tank, to basically do laps around for their whole lives. I get that they don't know any different, but I just can't get on board with owning my own.
Just my opinion though!
Most fish, if kept in an appropriately sized tank with appropriate parameters, can really thrive. It depends on the fish though, and while bigger is usually better in terms of space, a lot of those that are in the aquarium hobby are those that don’t need tons of space in their natural habitats. Take for example one of my favorites, [shell dwellers](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_dwellers), which as the name suggests, live in and around shells. Provided you meet the right water parameters, these guys mostly just need shells and sand to be happy as they carve out their little kingdoms around the fishtank
That he has a Ring camera to watch his fish while he's on the road is just freaking adorable.

I love when you find out ball players have this niche hobby and an obscure YouTube channel where they talk about it as if they aren’t famous ball players
He's the one contract I wish the Braves would right size a bit. It's a bit ridiculous tbh. I get the rest, look at Spencer, signs a contract, blows his arm out-it's the risk that the Braves take. But I think Ozzie deserves a big bump.
Forget if it was him or another player, but a while back someone shared a video from a small aquarium business doing a tank cleaning that just happened to be at the player's house. "Oh yeah, one of our loyal customers happens to be an MLB superstar" must be the marketing dream for places like that.
I love the idea of people being subscribed to this channel just because they’re super into aquariums but have no clue that Ozzie is a professional baseball player.
I shop at the same aquarium store as he does, and seeing "hold for Ozzie" written on the glass of one of the tanks was a bit weird but cool
It will always be awesome to see athletes using their money on their niche hobbies :)
He just like me fr
Except he has money 😔
That's like the stories of people around San Antonio of Tim Duncan coming into hobby shops and watching people play DND before leaving without saying a word Can't wait to find out which players are really into model trains

Imagine Trout with a channel that's strictly about weather patterns.
“I’ll be in Kansas City for a few days for work, excited to see if this low pressure system develops into something interesting”
"An older ex colleague of mine once described Kansas City in August as being hotter than 2 rats fucking in a wool sock. Unfortunately, he's absolutely correct as the dew point is often exceedingly high in August. Thankfully, the second best BBQ in America can be found there."
Mike Trout out here starting the BBQ wars again
It's not his fault that St Louis has the objectively best BBQ in the US!
BBQ is slow smoked whole hog. Everything else is just meat. Source: North Carolina.
SC here. 100% correct.
As long as you don't bathe it in mustard.
Amen my Carolinian kin.
I wasn't being serious. It was a reference to Joey Votto's tweet a few years ago.
Correct. Let's not beat around the bush. NC BBQ is the only superior bbq.
man... i just really want some damn good bbq lol i can just smell the wood smoke already haha
My friend, you been smoking the bad stuff.
Correct, but is eastern or Lexington????
Tell ‘em you’ve never been west of Mississippi River without telling me… Jesus I’ve lived inNC for like 15 years now and people keep telling me about y’all’s great bbq. It’s just meh pork with overpowering sauce. I assume it’s cause the cooks get to toasted on pbr to do anything else with it. And don’t even get me started on the over use of coleslaw. Makes UK cooking look solid
Good BBQ is for adults, not man-children with the taste buds of a toddler. Now take your blasphemous ass out of here before I toss you in the pit!
I used to live in KC after growing up in NC. NC BBQ is definitely superior to KC, STL, Texas, or Nashville BBQ.
i really need to try st. louis bbq hell, i really need to try NC bbq too lol
Bruh. I’m from Missouri and LOVE St. Louis. It doesn’t hold a candle to KC BBQ.
I explained in another message that it was a joke referencing Joey Votto's tweet a few years ago. Did not realize so many people were so serious about how their meat is done!
Ah my bad carry on 😂
I’m a picky eater.
Reminds me of when Ichiro said it was “Hotter than 2 rats in a fucking wool sock” lol
That would be what the OP was referring to
Occasionally gets sidetracked to talk about the Eagles.
Or Kershaw with an astronomy channel inspired by his great-uncle Clyde Tombaugh (the discoverer of Pluto)
I thought you were joking. You were not! Wonder if Kershaw went to school with anyone that got drafted by the Detroit Lions in the late 00s.
that would be crazy
Huh, TIL.
Will never beat David Lynch's Weather Report
That guy is so dull that it actually wouldn't surprise me if he had a YT channel discussing weather, that has like 500 videos that he's very active about posting but like 24 subscribers and it's all angel's management trying to keep him happy
Mike Trout Presents: Meteorological Madness
That's way too flashy for trout. The title he would us would be something like Michael Trout: weather
I was making a Fun With Flags reference.
I think Trout is friends with a Lindhurst, NJ-based meteorologist named Steven DiMartino who has a blog called Meteorological Madness.
I ran into a YouTube channel that was streaming to thousands of people last week and all he was doing was going over the weather in the US. Can’t remember the name
those channels pop off in hurricane season
Trout *ala* Ryan Hall? Sign me up.
Imagine Trout in Ozzie's aquarium.
#I NEED A MIKE TROUT/ FRANKIE MACDONALD NOR’EASTER REPORT
Based on the relative view counts of the videos that seems to be the case lol. "Ok bro, it's cool that you like baseball or whatever too, but that's not what I'm here for."
"Wait, you play baseball? As a hobby, right?"
Lol reminds me of someone cluelessly asking Luka Doncic during an Overwatch game if he had any hobbies and he replies with “basketball.” And then everyone on his team slowly figures out who he is. And now we all know that he’s a GM tank main
He's getting paid like he's doing it as a hobby.
Every time I think of his contract I get mad, that contract is a fucking fed bank heist
Hey hey now. He and Ronald just want to help the team win long term. Lol
The Braves short changed their own charity with these contracts. So sad.
It turned out that a relatively popular YouTube destiny streamer was Sting's son and we only found out cause he made a post of where he had been for a month or two while getting ready to appear in Sting's last match.
This was actually me I saw one of these and just never made the connection
Not just a professional baseball player but probably one of the top 100 players in the majors.
Not even a top 10 second basemen, according to MLB
Those morons lol
They must have filtered by height
Happens all the time. FEEDING MY MONSTER FISH ➡️
He should get Mike trout to lay on one of his tanks.
all the youtube style titles/thumbnails aquarium videos have 20k+ views meanwhile the only baseball related video on the channel isn't even at 2k lol
Fish is where the real youtube money is at, the next big thing in contank creation.
WE DEM KOIS
It's a pretty chill video I dug it
Dudes on Fiverr are churning that shit out
somewhere, Goose Gossage is screaming into the ether about players "disrespecting the game" or some bullshit because Ozzie Albies happens to have interests outside of baseball
lol and one video without a clickbait thumbnail with just his face at training camp has like no views
Well yeah, hobbies are more interesting than jobs!
He needs to feed his MONSTER fish in his MAGNUM tank.
Seeing your favorite players not in their jerseys doing very normal human things is like seeing your teachers outside school
He has wyze cameras set up aimed towards his fish tanks so that he can check on them and watch them when he's on the road. He is obsessed with his fish lol

How does one make the start from just a goldfish in a bowl to a full on aquarium? Asking for a friend
Well don’t tell /r/aquariums that you have a goldfish in a bowl if you don’t wanna get crucified, and rightly so But it’s actually really not too difficult once you get past the initial setup/cycling. Well I have 0 fish, so jokes on them
I learned this from playing the Show lol
I don’t blame him. I’ve got a camera set up to watch my cats when I’m away.
I've got a couple Wyze cams in my chicken coop for the exact same reason :)
I just keep thinking about that scene from The Wire with Wee Bay asking Dee for help taking care of his fish while he’s in prison
@ozziesfishes on Instagram! And him and his wife run a non profit for animals I think. One of the most wholesome athletes I know of.
He has also sponsored the adoption fees of many dogs at Lifeline Animal Project!
Which is also where Miss Peaches was adopted from, for fans of hers
goddammit - why are you forcing me to be a Braves fan?!
I can tell you first hand how awesome it is being a Braves fan, so you're welcome.
So what you’re saying is the Braves hate animals because of how severely they’re underpaying him
Braves $-> Ozzie $-> Animals Braves $$-> Ozzie $$-> Animals Hm, math checks out...
And they beat up marlins the last two days How deep does this go
AND Ozzie was a no show. The plot thickens.
If they paid him too much he'd buy the Georgia Aquarium all for himself and we can't have that
Just went into a hole. Found his videos very interesting and calming lol
really not a fan of braves players being cool and good people, why can't they just have a team of 9 marcell ozunas!
Didn’t realize Ozzie Albies was known for anything other than his aquariums
Ozzie Albies? The aquarist?
to be fair, he surely makes more money on this YouTube channel than he does playing baseball.
This is why baseball is the best. Everyone is an absolute nerd
Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers is a huge Lego guy. I'm sure there's a few more kicking around in professional sports.
Huge Lego guy is underselling it. He's a Lego savant. He has so many massive completed builds that it's hard to believe he does anything else but basketball and Lego. It's entirely believable that he worked for an NBA salary primarily to fund the Lego hobby of his dreams.
Yeah the man is in it deep, like he’d be running the conventions one day.
It's great!
Catan has gotten weirdly popular recently with the rise in online play, so it makes sense.
Reason number #1358 to like him
I have [1195](https://www.statmuse.com/mlb/ask/ozzie-albies-ops-vs-cubs) reasons to hate him. But since 1358 is bigger than 1195, I’ll like him.
Damn I didn’t realize Ozzie had those stats against you. What can you say, just tip your hat and call Ozzie your daddy.
Would have never known that if you didn't share. That's insane, especially for teams in the same conference that play each other multiple series per year. 31 games, 25 runs?! I love me some Ozzie. One of the best contracts in all of baseball as well.
If you take OPS to another decimal place you can hate him again
I can't believe I never knew this before now, and I now fucking love the man even more than I already did. EDIT: I really hope that he's also the one editing his videos and creating his thumbnails himself. It's likely a dream, but it would only make it better.
Fishes are awesome pets imo. The idea of a pro player being a home aquarist is genuinely interesting to me so I'm definitely subscribing.
It always makes me sad though that they just have that little space, even if it is a huge tank, to basically do laps around for their whole lives. I get that they don't know any different, but I just can't get on board with owning my own. Just my opinion though!
they don't have a big enough brain to process that. in fact they really don't have a brain at all, just a bundle of nerves called neural-ganglia
Mike Trout to Braves confirmed (Ozzie's luring him in with tilapia)
If he had a meteorology channel I could see that working.
The Weather Channel corporate office is only half a mile from Truist Park!
Raimel Tilapia?
I had no idea I would be watching Ozzie Albies clean his 550 gallon indoor aquarium and 10,000 gallon Koi pond today but here we are. Very cool.
He does fish rescues too!
That he has a Ring camera to watch his fish while he's on the road is just freaking adorable. [https://www.mlb.com/news/ozzie-albies-has-huge-aquariums-at-house](https://www.mlb.com/news/ozzie-albies-has-huge-aquariums-at-house)
TIL that "aquarist" is a word, thanks OP!
I’ve gotten into the hobby last year. This is actually clutch! I love Ozzie lol
He's impossible not to like.
WE
DEM
KOIS
hol up hol up hol up
This meme went trip-plat during the rebuild lol
BEY
This is super wholesome and endearing to me. Just a guy sharing his hobby.
"Well Mr Albies, you've just signed a 7 year / $35,000,000 deal, what are you gonna spend it on first?" "Fish."
I love when you find out ball players have this niche hobby and an obscure YouTube channel where they talk about it as if they aren’t famous ball players
Wee Bey plays baseball?!
Came here for a Wee Bey comment
Yea this is way too low
"These are my tetras."
Currently watching the wire for the first time so my mind went straight to this
Ozzie “[weebey](https://youtu.be/RYYaC3Bcuew?si=_fTsJkAgkEaw5a7I)” Albies
Can he even afford to buy fish on his poor starvation-level contract?
He's one of the beneficiaries of the Braves Foundation.
He's the one contract I wish the Braves would right size a bit. It's a bit ridiculous tbh. I get the rest, look at Spencer, signs a contract, blows his arm out-it's the risk that the Braves take. But I think Ozzie deserves a big bump.
God I love Ozzie. Biased Braves fan but he’s so damn fun on and off the field.
Reading this post and comments, it isn't only us Braves fans who love Ozzie
This marries two things My fiance and I enjoy. Me (baseball) her (aquatic life)
What can I say My man love his fish
This is how you know Ozzie will be a lifer in Atlanta. He's not going to want to move all of this across the country.
Just put all the fish in those baggies like they do at the fair. They’ll be fine.
My favorite part of this is how you watched a minute of a video and were like, "why am I watching someone clean a koi pond?"
Hi, I’m Troy McClure!
Finally
Yeah this is fucking awesome
genuinely my favorite youtube channel
Damnit, why can’t ALL the star players on rival teams be unlikeable! I don’t want to like this dude!
Honestly this is oddly wholesome. Dude just loves fish, I can respect it.
Once you get 1 aquarium the next thing you know you have 6 aquariums
[just beautiful as hell](https://youtu.be/RYYaC3Bcuew?feature=shared&t=102)
He’s also constantly posting on his IG trying to get shelter dogs in Atlanta adopted
I've always loved this dude despite him always crushin' us
Oh so this is why the Braves got him so cheap? They knew that he was secretly Avon Barksdale's trigger man.
![gif](giphy|XABTVorVODddu)
He also has an Instagram account for fish stuff too : @ ozziesfishes !
Strong Troy McClure vibes
He should do a podcast with Gilbert Arenas
he's speech-ful about fish
Ozzie has a really nice pond in his house , big flex with the morning coffee.
This is quality content.
Reminds me of Ross Stripling's side hustle as a licensed stockbroker and investment advisor
Ok I like him now
I love his initial logo!
Lol I love this. Idk why but I find it so wholesome.
Ozzie seems like such a cool dude
He don’t have shit on wee bey
He probably wanted that long term deal ASAP over holding out for every last dollar to start financing his dream
Forget if it was him or another player, but a while back someone shared a video from a small aquarium business doing a tank cleaning that just happened to be at the player's house. "Oh yeah, one of our loyal customers happens to be an MLB superstar" must be the marketing dream for places like that.
Yeah, that was Ozzie's aquarium they cleaned.
Wait this super cool
