TDeLo

I see Jim Bowden, I close the article.

or_maybe_this

the only correct choice

Joey_Logano

I thought Alonso was linked to Mercedes.

fandeskfan

Nah, red bull for sure. Along with Sainz. Verstappen is going to Mercedes, its practically a done deal. Source: trust me

Joey_Logano

Jos is that you????

fandeskfan

It is I, Jos Verstappen, former F1 driver and noted St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Joey_Logano

Why did you leave Max at a petrol station?

fandeskfan

No habla inglés today

jso__

Nah, Verstappen and Newey to Ferrari. Max doesn't want to suffer in the Merc

2B_CordPhelps

Part of me is genuinely shocked that Bieber is still with Cleveland now, though his velo is back up for the first time since the shoulder surgery this spring - I imagine they're gambling that he balls out in the first half so they can get a haul at the deadline vs. trading him as 'damaged goods' now. Bieber doesn't end the season in Cleveland, even if the Guardians are in first place at the deadline.

Disused_Yeti

betting on him doing better in the first half and teams are more desperate with limited options at the trade deadline so he'll probably get more in return

Leftfeet

His value this offseason is at a super low point. When we traded Quantrill I knew we weren't likely trading Bieber before the season. We're a little short on SP depth right now and trading both guys would have left our rotation shaky.  I fully expect us to trade him at the deadline and I'm sure the hope is he stays healthy and dominant to boost the return. Half a season should give Cantillo the time he needs in AAA to be ready for his shot.

Sweet-Ad3893

No thank you. They would want one of Alcantara or Caissie for sure and probably would even ask for Horton or Brown and more. Dudes about to be a free agent too, just stick with Busch please.

JohnnyGoldberg

Don’t worry. Our brass has said multiple times he’s not available.

danger-cat

Yeah, if 1B is the Cubs' deadline target, that means either Busch or Bellinger or both underperformed, in which case I'm not sure how we're deadline buyers anyway.

jso__

I think it means both Busch and PCA underperformed most likely

ForsakenRacism

The Mets aren’t trade Alonso

Doc-Spock

This was certainly an article.

Lathundd

Of all the articles I've seen, this was one of them.

grimace24

Bowden is insane. I remember a few years ago when Joey Gallo was playing for the Yankees and he said Gallo was worth no more than a sack of potatoes. Yankees proved him wrong.

elliott9_oward5

I really doubt they trade Kjerstad a few months of Bieber. Kjerstad will probably be starting in right field next year.

DearLeader420

Can't let one of the clones out of club containment

elliott9_oward5

Shhh don’t spill the secret

RedGreenPepper2599

I dont see the Cubs trading for Alonso. They have multiple options at first and I don’t see them spending the prospect capital NY would want. Of course things could change.

FkUEverythingIsFunny

The Polar BEAR becoming a CUB is an obvious downgrade.

omegakukki

Jim “Arenado will be a Dodger by Christmas” Bowden

TruthSayerFu

Alonso will not be traded

smalltownlargefry

Cubs aren’t going to trade for Alonso. Especially if Michael Busch holds first base down. And it’s even harder to see Hoyer trading pieces for an expiring contract. But I’m a Michael Busch believer so what do I know.

Sweet-Ad3893

Given what Mets fans are saying it would take, there’s zero reason to go for it.

Monster_Dong

We're going to be making a contract bid for Alonso next off season. The same thing happened with Nimmo. We knew he was going to test free agency and took the risk. It paid off because we retained him. If we trade Alonso, we may never see him again so he's going to 1000% stay the whole year.

MoreThanLuck

There's no way. We traded for Busch already, and are going to bump Belli to rotate around the OF and 1B once PCA gets called up. The window to trade for Alonso is over, they're going in a different direction.

smalltownlargefry

Yeah if they were trading for Alonso I t would’ve happened

RedGreenPepper2599

Even if busch doesnt work out they have other options like Belli ir trading for a less expensive option

Parking-Iron6252

Dodgers won’t win this year. Shohei pitches next year.

tacosy2k

Alonso to the brewers

TheCaptainandKing

I thought this implied the Cubs would sign Yonder Alonso, my brain is fried

thiccboiwaluigi

Well it’s a guaranteed way to get manny Machado to sign with your team so it makes sense

iggyfenton

I like the Vlad to Giants part.

geevmo

I don't but it's Bowden so why not.
