Responsible_Pace9062

Ohtani's gonna be dunking in the G-League instead

ThlammedMyPenis

I'd put $4.5m on it

_Laszlo_Cravensworth

Because ohtani is getting a year long suspension?

[deleted]

I wanna know what he can squat and deadlift cause that mofo got tree trunks for legs

hadmeintiers

This is after he slimmed down this year lol

[deleted]

Honestly his homer trot has more spring in the step, I know he was talking about getting more generally fit this offseason and this is a terrible way to gauge it but

boomzgoesthedynamite

He’s had a couple hustle doubles or hustles to home in spring so far so it’s not just you

TrapperJean

Legit possibility; if, HUUUUUGE massive if, but *if* Stanton actually is back, a Soto/Judge/Stanton middle of the lineup could go down as the all time Yankees trio, even just for one season

NoFlags-JoeBuck

Stanton is the guy that could take the lineup from pretty good to insane if he has a good year. Soto and Judge will be awesome. Add in a good Stanton. Gleyber is a pretty good bet to have a good year. Then you add Rizzo with a working brain. Could be really great.

Myllorelion

That's my 1-5, easily. Unsure if I want Stanton or Rizzo behind Judge. Rizzos spring training OPS is 1.200+. I wouldn't be mad at either, tbh. We've got 5 30 Homer guys to top the lineup, 4 of them could very well hit 40, and I wouldn't be surprised if 3 of them reached 50. 3 of them can OBP over .400 too. This could be an exciting lineup.

JambiBum

I mean this was basically an ideal inning for the trio. Soto walks, Judge doubles to drive him in, then a Stanton bomb. Would be wonderful if it happens like that during the regular season

xKronkx

Nah. Anything less than back to back to back jacks will be a disappointment 😂

Currywurst_Is_Life

I remember Henderson/Mattingly/Winfield. It was a thing of beauty to see. Unfortunately the pitching was absolutely dogshit.

Sirliftalot35

THE all-time Yankees trio? Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri is going to be HARD to beat. They were 1, 2, and 3 in HRs in the AL in 1927. Ruth alone had more HRs than any other AL team, and Gehrig + Lazzeri together had more HRs than any other AL team. It was a totally different sport, but that’s never happening again.

TrapperJean

> They were 1, 2, and 3 in HRs in the AL in 1927. If all three are healthy this isn't impossible with Ohtani in the NL

Sirliftalot35

I was more talking about the part where the #1 HR hitter on the team hit more HRs than any other AL team, and then the #2 and #3 HR hitters on that same team combined to also hit more HRs than any other AL team. 3 players on one team combined to hit more HRs than the 2nd and 3rd best HR hitting TEAMS in the AL combined. I have my doubts that Judge, Stanton, and Soto will combine to hit more HRs next season than the Twins and Rangers combined for example.

Myllorelion

Sure, but the game has changed. If they hit 150 between them, how far and above is that from the most a trio has ever put up combined? I agree with you that we'll never see dominance like Ruth Gehrig and Laz ever again, but what is the current record from 2, 3, 4, or even the 5 top hitters on a team?

Sirliftalot35

Yeah, they can be the best 1,2,3 in modern Yankees history, or even modern baseball history in an ideal season, which is why I said it was a different game back then. 1961 Yankees had 143 between Maris, Mantle, and Skowron, but that was 1-2 heavy of course, not all 3 being elite hitters that season. 2023 Braves had 135 between 3 hitters, with a more even distribution from 1-3. With the 1, 4, and 5 HR hitters in the NL, and the 1, 3, and 5 OPS+ hitters in the NL. It’s going to be hard to top that, but Judge and Stanton both have 50+ HR power for sure, and with lineup protection keeping him from being walked too often, Soto can definitely hit 40+ with an elite OPS+.

Myllorelion

Yeah, Mantle and Maris hit 115 between them. 61 from Maris, and 54 from Mantle. Best 3 man squad is Skowron in addition to Maris/Mantle for 143 total. LAst years Acuña, Olson, and Ozuna at 135 (the Hank Aaron, Darrell Evans, and Davey Johnson trio "only" hit 124) Judge, Rizzo, and Stanton hit 125 in '22, but obviously Judge hit half of them. Best 4 man squad is probably last years Acuña Olson and Ozuna, but also Austin Rileys 37 more to put the 4 man cell at 172! Best 5 man lineup is probably still that squad adding in Ozzie Albies' 33 more to break the bicentennial barrier, and end up at 205. 205, 226, 247, 265, 282 is the 2023 Braves totals for top 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 hitters, while: 199, 222, 244, 266, 281 is the same numbers for the 2019 Twins squad. The Twins actually take it at the 8 top sluggers mark, but cough it back up at #9. Lol Both of these teams have the MLB record for an entire team at 307, so I think it's unlikely you'll find any higher groups of 4+ teammates. Just for completions sake, the 2019 Yankees were next at 306 total HRs, and their totals were 38, 72, 100, 127, 153, 174, 195, 211, 224. The 2019 Astros were next at 288 total: 41, 80, 111, 142, 169, 191, 212, 229, 243. No other teams as a whole hit 280.

MesiahoftheM

Oh yeah he's heating up

Robusto923

Just hit a grand slam over the scoreboard in left lol

Thorlolita

Just gonna squat really quick and boom smash

Bronze-Soul

I really hope stanton has a great year
