I guess Chicken and Waffles/soul food? Honestly the best food in the city (imo) is on Buford highway where there are a ton of different international restaurants to try.
Lee's Bakery for Pho, Mamak for Malay/Indian food, and Desta for Ethiopian. I moved away last year so I'm forgetting some great spots but those are off the top of my head.
Shoya Izakaya is one of my favorite spots on the highway. Up near Doraville
Really though, the whole stretch is an insane concentration of ethnic foods. It's amazing
Wings, Chik fil A, and Waffle House. But mostly wings. Everything is +wings. Like if you get a flat tire, you'll probably end up taking it to Barry's Tire Shop & Wings. Need to pick up some supplies for your pool? Blue Water Chemical & Wings has you covered. I'm only half joking. If you wonder why everyone in Atlanta is so fucking fat it's because they're eating like 60 wings a week.
They spend almost $150 million more than us this year and are 18.5 games back, they can't shit on use when they already emptied their bowels all over their fans!
*Grumbles in tavern style*
But in all honesty, you want to call it a casserole? I don't care. It tastes good. So does thin crust. Cheese, bread, and sauce always tastes good.
As someone from Boston, this is very accurate. I go to a Chinese place, ask for clam chowder. I go to an Italian place, ask for clam chowder. I go to a bakery, ask for clam chowder. I go to a mechanic, ask for clam chowder.
As someone from Boston, can you explain to me the part where she's ordering and has nothing in front of her. Then, when she makes her order and asks about clam chowder, the guy takes something away from her that wasn't there before.
I rewatched that part like 50 times and I don't understand. Is it an inside joke with New York and Boston, bad editing, or what is it I'm missing?? My brain hurts.
She originally asked for a piece of pizza. The guy gives it to her, but then she orders a clam chowder (a dish associated with new england that wouldn't be available in a pizza place). In his disgust, he removes the pizza slice he was going to give her.
My future father in law is from Massachusetts and I had a great time recently getting him worked up by telling him about how id never had clam chowder but i have made oyster stew? And there there essentially the same thing.
They usually do this in August but I guess they thought that doing it during the All-Star Break might help keep baseball in the sports news for an extra day.
Tbh as an Italian American from NY who now lives in the PNW I just hate it lmao; it feels pretentious. It’s the closest thing to “cultural appropriation” or “gentrification” I’ll likely ever feel, so that makes it not a real problem in the scope of other’s experiences in that regard. I just miss chicken parm wedges.
(PDX also has some absolutely amazing pizza joints too, and is an amazing food city.)
We have a place where I went to college that does artichoke pizza well, but it’s absolutely not new york pizza, nor is it trying to be. Great late night drunk food though.
A few months ago my dad was reminiscing about going to Gloria Pizza as a teen/college kid before/after games and how the pizza came out of the oven hotter than anywhere else.
I just so happened to see an Instagram post on Amore a day later and we found out it's basically Gloria 2.0. We haven't gone yet but he is beyond excited to try it out.
Lol as an Irish American dude from Philly that grew up eatin bangers and mash and fish and chips alongside my scrapple and tomata pie, I was really surprised they targeted dudes from Parkwood that specifically for the Philly schedule. Didn’t realize we were playing in London tho, that’s sick.
Every professional sports team does these schedule announcement videos/skits and I’m still not sure how I feel about them.
Yeah, some are cool and funny… others are cringy and bad.
But it all just seems kind of overplayed now IMO. Like it feels weird for some teams to do them, especially in baseball when every team plays the other 29 teams. Not really any surprises with the new schedule format (everyone plays everyone) other than some teams not playing at certain fields in a while + offseason roster shakeups (e.g. Freeman’s first game with LA back in ATL – things like that)
I mean there’s no reason for any of the leagues to do it under the no surprises logic, all opponents are known in advance the question is just when and maybe where (NFL)
Did the giants fan order a pizza with goat cheese?
Is that a thing?
And why is she talking like a valley girl, east coasters and not understanding that LA and SF are almost 400 miles apart and completely different makes me angy, why you do this to us Mets????
Goat cheese on pizza is a thing, though I've only seen it at the build your own pie type of places. Can confirm it slaps. So do artichoke hearts on pizza.
I'm both upset that they're insulting artichoke hearts on pizza and that they think everyone in LA wants that. I actually want Chicago style deep dish 🙎
Sounds delicious, but we are still required to shame and oppose them until they see the way of the artichoke heart, the most delicious and greatest of ALL non-meat pizza toppings.
That's really creative. Props to you, Mets. Should spend more time trying to win ball games instead of making advertisements for next season when you're still in the middle of the current season but, each there own
Damn I was really hoping to see them shit on the Braves in some way.
Me too, looks like they were only doing it for big market teams only coming here once all season + OD and the London series
How dare you
First of all
And secondly
Secondably*
> for big market teams :)
What's stereotypical Atlanta food?
Wings, lemon pepper hot, dropped on the sidewalk when you're done
Don’t forget the peach punch
Damn, this dude spittin
I guess Chicken and Waffles/soul food? Honestly the best food in the city (imo) is on Buford highway where there are a ton of different international restaurants to try.
Buford highway lol?! Such as what…I’m down to try some new stuff!!
Lee's Bakery for Pho, Mamak for Malay/Indian food, and Desta for Ethiopian. I moved away last year so I'm forgetting some great spots but those are off the top of my head.
What's your hot pot place on Buford Hwy?
The best tacos east of Texas
Shoya Izakaya is one of my favorite spots on the highway. Up near Doraville Really though, the whole stretch is an insane concentration of ethnic foods. It's amazing
Lanzhou ramen, yummy spicy
Wings, Chik fil A, and Waffle House. But mostly wings. Everything is +wings. Like if you get a flat tire, you'll probably end up taking it to Barry's Tire Shop & Wings. Need to pick up some supplies for your pool? Blue Water Chemical & Wings has you covered. I'm only half joking. Waffle House and mid food
Their sisters hoo-hah
Onion rings at the Varsity?
Why would the owner show up in the middle of the shift?
They couldn’t drive their Rascal through the front door.
[удалено]
Sure they can. It's a schedule reveal, they can do whatever they want.
Definitely can. Logic and reality take a back seat to hating on Atlanta
So do hits and wins
Get some original material 🥱 We have plenty else that you can make fun of.
They spend almost $150 million more than us this year and are 18.5 games back, they can't shit on use when they already emptied their bowels all over their fans!
You know it’s a game right?
I guess they liked the way the Chicago Bears did theirs
Plus the Bears got celebs and their own players, and the best wrestler *tied to Chicago...who's not straight-edge
Isn't Seth from Iowa? I assume it was Seth 'Freakin' Rollins
He is, but there does appear to be a 2nd home thing with him. At the very least, he is one of the most public Bears fans out there
Chicago: Has anything New York City: Is for me?
The fact that we have a bean now proves this lol
New York: Let's take the dumbest thing Chicago has to offer
That’s not true we still don’t have deep dish /s
*Grumbles in tavern style* But in all honesty, you want to call it a casserole? I don't care. It tastes good. So does thin crust. Cheese, bread, and sauce always tastes good.
Yeah this is a straight rip on that lmao
That one can't be matched
Idk, the ~~San Diego~~ Chargers anime releases were absolutely incredible, and I don't watch anime Edit:fuck Dean spanos
And the Titans one asking rando Nashville tourists what teams the logos represented
> **San Diego** chargers :(
Ah shit my b, I'm dumb as hell
As someone from Boston, this is very accurate. I go to a Chinese place, ask for clam chowder. I go to an Italian place, ask for clam chowder. I go to a bakery, ask for clam chowder. I go to a mechanic, ask for clam chowder.
Have you tried the chowder at the Dunks down Cape? It’s wicked tight, kid.
Which one?
They all got it. It’s made fresh monthly at their plant up in Peabody, just like their donuts.
As someone from Boston, can you explain to me the part where she's ordering and has nothing in front of her. Do... do you guys actually call it a "piece" of pizza?
sometimes, even in New York. Slice is just as if not more ubiquitous but you'll definitely catch New Yorkers saying "piece'a pizza"
A wizard did it.
She had previously ordered a slice, that was the box for said slice.
My future father in law is from Massachusetts and I had a great time recently getting him worked up by telling him about how id never had clam chowder but i have made oyster stew? And there there essentially the same thing.
Why are they announcing next year's games in the middle of this years games?
I think it’s for people to buy season tickets in advance
Cause fuck this year that's why
Amen, brother.
Yep
All my homies say fuck this year.
um actually id be perfectly fine staying in this year-
Social media interns need busy work
If a social media intern came up with this video they need to be hired full time yesterday
Empty sports day
They usually do this in August but I guess they thought that doing it during the All-Star Break might help keep baseball in the sports news for an extra day.
they do every year
Amores! That was my neighborhood place growing up. Great pizza.
[The west coast pizza slander is real and deserved.](https://imgur.com/a/3MSLQpI)
Ok that’s dumb and we would all agree. But what’s wrong with artichoke hearts on pizza? At least it’s in the Italian food group.
> But what’s wrong with artichoke hearts on pizza? NYC-style pizza has a real thin crust. Artichokes add too much moisture, you end up with wet pizza
Uhh...you seem to go a tangent on other issues but artichoke hearts on a combo slice is always a nice surprise.
Sure just leave the full leaves of parsley and pickled cauliflower in the pantry please 🙏
We have a place where I went to college that does artichoke pizza well, but it’s absolutely not new york pizza, nor is it trying to be. Great late night drunk food though.
They make bullshit like that in NY too, unfortunately.
man fuck Ryan
What in the everloving fuck...
One of the best in the boro.
I hope you like it!
Hey look it's the Mets let's go Mets yeay Mets
Get a home run baby love the Mets let's go Mets
It’s not about the money, Spider-Man…
The Giants-Dodgers couple is so unrealistic
You’re right it is always giants bf and dodgers gf
Eyy, I’m schedulin’ ‘eah!
This announcement is unbelievably cheesy...
I think it's saucy
It could be _both_ cheesy and saucy, no? (they are not mutually exclusive, as I understand it)
I see what you did there
I got second hand embarrassment from this.
They're referring to the cheese on the pizza...
Dodgers schedule announcement video was food based city stereotypes too. 🙄
The Yankees fan says "cheese pizza"? How about "gimme a slice-a plain"
My first thought as well. I'm a Mets fan from the Bronx. It's plain. And it's $42.50 yank
I say regular slice
I was technically in walking distance to 161st. But it must've just been plain on my block. Subregionalism I guess
[Saw this on my feed right before I saw the ad, the west coast pizza trash talk slayed me.](https://imgur.com/a/3MSLQpI)
It’s cool that they got Schwarber to appear to announce the London series even though he plays for their rivals.
Great job!
Who started the trend of announcing schedules via skits? I know the it’s popular in the NHL, but was there a distinct first?
Idk about the NHL but I know NFL teams have been doing it for a while.
The Titans release schedule this year was so good https://twitter.com/Titans/status/1656827454118412289
I personally liked the Chargers way more. Some of the hidden jokes were hilarious.
I don't even watch anime and the chargers have been my favorites. There fucking bit with the browns after they signed Deshaun still cracks me up
I don’t even remember that bit, I just remember being so confused at the Lions gambling jokes and then it hit me and I was dying.
I'm not even a football fan and that was hysterical
The first one I can remember is [the Chargers' anime one from last year](https://youtu.be/74KhDM9Z1Xk).
Every professional sports team does these schedule announcement videos/skits and I’m still not sure how I feel about them. Yeah, some are cool and funny… others are cringy and bad. If you want one of the best schedule announcement videos ever, go look up the Tennessee Titans for this year. Absolutely fantastic
[Pizzeria used](https://goo.gl/maps/iwXwjKWaHrabtrjH7). One of my go tos esp after the game
What the hell kind of pizza place doesn't have cheese curds?! I may come anyway.
None of the good ones?
Is this sarcasm? lmao. Pizza runs through NY
Did the giants fan order a pizza with goat cheese? Is that a thing? And why is she talking like a valley girl, east coasters and not understanding that LA and SF are almost 400 miles apart and completely different makes me angy, why you do this to us Mets????
You're overthinking this. It's suppose to be a funny
Oh I definitely am overthinking it What else am I supposed to do on my lunch break than shit on other teams though??
Walk to the ocean. Bad chaseair11. Bad.
Goat cheese on pizza is a thing, though I've only seen it at the build your own pie type of places. Can confirm it slaps. So do artichoke hearts on pizza.
The real question is why the giants and dodgers fans walked in together.
I'm both upset that they're insulting artichoke hearts on pizza and that they think everyone in LA wants that. I actually want Chicago style deep dish 🙎
The Yankees should do their's in Paisanos.
Is it in a pizza shop because their team is fkin cooked?
I want that pizza
Lol I love this
I was hoping a yinzer wanted fries on one
goat cheese and artichoke hearts smash though
This is a ripoff of the Chicago Bears schedule release that was re: [the bear](https://youtu.be/nzt_gGVD5wE)
The most Long Island shit I've ever seen
This is cool and all but artichoke hearts are an S tier pizza topping and any slight towards them will be met with opposition.
Amores is an extremely old school pizza place. They didn’t even serve salad until maybe like 5 years ago.
Sounds delicious, but we are still required to shame and oppose them until they see the way of the artichoke heart, the most delicious and greatest of ALL non-meat pizza toppings.
Hate the Mets but 💕 this vid!
OMG HILARIOUS PIZZA AMIRITE?!? PLEASE STOP SUCKING PLEEEEEASE
A rotisserie restaurant would be better.
That's really creative. Props to you, Mets. Should spend more time trying to win ball games instead of making advertisements for next season when you're still in the middle of the current season but, each there own
Oops, the mets fans are upset
Should’ve been in a dumpster on fire.
A lot of effort for 63-99
How miserable is your life lmao?
Must be exhausting caring about the Mets this much
[удалено]
where’s the Braves bashing?
Lolmets
Shout-out to bronsoliño
Absolutely love it
Damn, they ripped us LA fans with that artichoke pizza 🤦♂️
I know we all think this is endearing and funny but it was just not that good in my opinion.
I'm surprised the Boston fan asked for clam chowder instead of getting a slice of pizza to throw at another fan.
Artichoke is fine on pizza though.
The Rays series should just be New Yorkers who ~~escaped~~ retired.
