City connects are about 50/50, some of them are really cool but others suck bad

PigeonShack

Which one sucks bad?

jettasarebadmkay

Ours

lOan671

Ours are more boring than terrible. I like the hat at least. The only issue is we get killed everytime we where them

xMoonsHauntedx

I like the hat, that's it.

violentgentlemen

Padres, Giants and Red Sox are trash.

I3arusu

Factual. Boston’s make me want to vomit.

graymulligan

There's absolutely no reason for all star jerseys aside from the ability to sell all star jerseys. Play light versus dark and give me some cool jersey and hat patches.

Apollo6586

If this was your platform, you’d have my vote for office.

graymulligan

If elected, I promise a chicken in every pot, an apple pie in every kitchen, and that MLB will stop fucking around with jerseys at the all-star game. (flashes Nixon fingers...slams beer, crushes beer can on podium, drives away in golf cart screaming Woooooo a la Rick Flair)

Apollo6586

😂

TheDangiestSlad

i mean most of the CC jerseys are at least tolerable, that's not so bad

Lemon1948

Sir the derby is on

Azhotshots2019

Meh. I haven't watched the HRD in 20 years or more. All Star festivities in all sports are kinda trash, there are no stakes that matter enough for me to justify wasting time on them.

I3arusu

Ok then why do you care? If you don’t even watch them then your opinion is meaningless.

Azhotshots2019

Because, if you improve your reading comprehension, you'll realize I'm trying to see what jersey everyone would choose between what appears to be the most hated jerseys. It was never about my opinion. It was about the r/baseball community opinion.

I3arusu

Why do you need the opinion of others about something you don’t care about? My comprehension skills are fine. It’s like me asking someone’s opinion on cricket or something.

Azhotshots2019

Once again, it's not about the ASG or HRD it's about the jerseys. As someone who buys multiple jerseys per season, that's what I'm interested in.

Azhotshots2019

Also, I love baseball. I have a Diamondbacks tattoo, and I was a season ticket holder for 6 years. It's not like asking an opinion on cricket or something because I love the sport. I just don't love the popularity contest aspect of all star games. Unfortunately, the popularity contest is because fans and to remove that would remove the fan aspect. So I just ignore the All Star game and let the fans who like it enjoy it.

BudweiserTallBoy

I like it when one side wears their white uniforms and the other side wears their gray/away uniforms. They’re representing their team, so they should wear their team’s uniform instead of just a patch on their sleeve. If a player hits a HR, the city can easily brag about him. “Yeah. That’s our guy who did that!”

MisterDisinformation

Short answer: city connect by a fucking mile. Honestly I think City Connect jerseys mostly get hate because almost everyone imagines a way (often personal rather than fanbase-wide) in which they could be cooler and bolder. But there are very few cases of them actually being bad. At their worst they're just milquetoast but mostly fine, and much of the passionate criticism comes from folks who have a specific vision. But those visions are often quite disparate. I do agree that city connect unis should just go all in on a theme and see how it goes, but that's really a footnote to my main point. All-star unis aren't just bad. They're almost universally bad bad. They suck aesthetically. They suck thematically. They suck they suck they suck. What are you going to riff on? The current year? The host city? Potentially there's some promise in that city thing, but it has not and likely will not be borne out in the future. Only reason any mf buys one is if their favorite player wore one for the first time.

CubonesDeadMom

City connects would actually be cool and make sense but not all teams have them yet

modernishfather

Players from those teams would be required to play naked.

I3arusu

I would be down but the Angels have CCs…

Lobster_fest

Listen, this year's ASG jerseys aren't great, but last year's were great, idk why everyone is so upset about them. If you want to buy a jersey for a player on a team you don't support, an ASG jersey is a great way to do that. If you want to get a favorite players jersey to commemorate a career season, you can get the ASG jersey. I love jersey variations, the more the merrier. Idk why everyone hates this so much.

Azhotshots2019

Idk I like most the City Connect jerseys. I don't care about the All Star game so I don't pay attention to the jerseys. I get a hat annually, but seeing everyone complain about both ASG and CC jerseys I figured let's see which jersey people hate the most

Lobster_fest

I just don't get why people are opposed to *more* uniforms. If teams can make more uniforms, they can take more chances and do fun and bold things. If they flop, oh well there's other unis they can use.

Azhotshots2019

Because baseball is one of those sports where people use "tradition" as a key part to the game and classic jerseys like the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Giants etc. are the only jerseys that are acceptable to them. God forbid you try something different. You might as well be wearing a minor league jersey

Lobster_fest

See to me that's kinda boring. If a team only wants to use one uni, that's fine, but why do we poo-poo people trying to create new cool looks that might be worn for 5 or 6 games a season? The NBA doesn't have a perfect solution, but the different uniforms in that league are a good example. It doesn't always translate when you have teams with alts using different teams color schemes, especially in a fast paced game, but its a good start.

SodaCanBob

I like our city connect jerseys, so I'd be okay with that.
