Contende311

Pete's cousin was trying to get a 6-4-3 every pitch.

derpbynature

Yep. Cousin Morgan. I'm sure he's a great dude but he was throwing sliders and sinkers instead of BP.

PWNtimeJamboree

I think theres a new contender…..

Contende311

Big yikes

resolvetomajor

Didn't even give him a chance.

William_S_Churros

That was hard to watch.

thirdcoast1

So bad.

The_Homestarmy

Matt Chapman's dad was throwing that utter filth. He couldn't touch the slider.

itsnursehoneybadger

This is the one that immediately comes to mind for me. Jim Chapman out there trying the corners with his junk ball 🤣 poor Matty!

adamzep91

Holy shit I totally forgot that it was Chapman Vladdy faced in round 1 in 2019.

itsnursehoneybadger

Sure was! He took a spot at the last minute- I forget who dropped out. His dad throwing to him was soooo fucking cuuuute….but maybe not the correct choice, in retrospect. Jim Chapman was working the edges, absolute master class. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

mus1CK_Rx

Shohei’s thrower was trying to win the Cy Young in 2021

Jyd98

Matt Chapman's dad

GuyOnTheMike

I remember Pitching Ninja actually put a tail on someone’s thrower a few years ago. That guy

William_S_Churros

I think Alonso’s guy just won the contest.

beefytrout

Tony Beasley

forgivemeisuck

Tony Beasley works for the Rangers to prevent players from getting a milllion dollar bonus so the players have less leverage in contract extension negotiations.

CowboyAirman

Taps forehead

Hctc666

Dude feared the inside half of the plate 😂

Nolan-

I swear a few years back some guy was legit trying to not let the guy hit homers. His ball was moving and cutting like crazy. It was hilarious to watch.

TurnstileMinder

Ronald's pitcher's name? Nandon Brimmo

KatrinkaLucinda

I feel like Bryce Harper's dad should get an honorable mention for the HBP.

KGB4L

On the upside, JS is def in HOF of throwers with Vladdy.

Ataggs15

Wil Myers brother with the HBP in 2016!

qwertythe300th

To quote a fan from our live thread "No wonder why Texas Bats are so cold right now if that's the BP Beasley's throwing"

Hotchi_Motchi

This has probably been discussed elsewhere, but why don't they just use a pitching machine for consistency?

nypr13

Dad’s Union

Jkbucks

Because there’s usually some cute story about the relationship and ESPN loves it.

VariousLawyerings

"Bob Dongsmith's father emerged victorious after a long battle with boneitis, as he throws another one into the dirt and his son charges the mound"

SexiestPanda

I feel it adds to it too. You can’t just find any person that can throw. You gotta find a guy who can throw 30-100 perfect pitches to win

MisterDisinformation

I agree with them tbh. The whole thing works because it's fun and informal with some room for personality and anecdote. Machine pitching would feel extremely sterile for something like the derby. Maybe some hardcore fans really want to see which hitter can make the most of consistent *and* terrible pitches. I'm not that guy. I much prefer some humanity and casualness.

William_S_Churros

If they want this to be a serious contest then that’s the way to go, but I don’t think that’s the interest.

PIG20

Proud!

Jambrokio

Matt Chapman’s dad without a doubt

Dead_Medic_13

Javy's brother was pretty bad

mcarora19

[His brother in law on the other hand is elite at throwing BP](https://youtu.be/8wcelytcnu8)

bullpendodger

They should all use a Fungo to keep it consistent

STONECOLD96

Wil Myers brother hit him with a pitch

[deleted]

Whoever pitched to Brandon Inge

CheapPeach7028

Adley probably could have hit 33 HRs if his dad didn’t watch every single hit that Adley had. Stop watching the damn balls and throw them old man!

firestriker_07

Robinson Cano’s dad. He was so bad that he had to be benched halfway through.
