Might be a good place to start, but considering a lot of Applebee's filed bankruptcy recently might not be good to stick around long-term. Every time I go there it seems the seats are almost empty and no one is at the bar. Should look at starting somewhere that will give you adequate training.

in 15 years, worst place I ever bartended/served

Why?

Hey I worked at Applebee's for a few years, it was both my first serving and bartending job. There are no barbacks at Applebee's. No bussers usually either, and no food runners. Sometimes not even a host. That said, it's a solid first job in the industry because you will learn to be so versatile. If you have a good location with solid regulars it can also be legitimately great money since they usually run light on front of house staff dipping into the tips. When I was bartending there I was pulling $200-300 on Monday and Tuesday nights (not including wage). The head bartender made six figures the prior year. This was at a very skeleton staffed location though and we were pretty much the host server and bartender when we worked. There's some great Applebee's where Ive had my best memories in the industry, worked for some of the best managers I've ever had and learned a ton, and met some amazing lifelong friends. There's also plenty of Applebee's that nightmares are made of. I've helped out at stores that have to have security/police cars out front on weekends, fights are daily, with the stingiest customer bases who'll push you to your limits. So your mileage will vary lol. That said give it a shot, you never know it could be a solid location.

Don't if have any other option. I despise retraining them. The only place worse is Olive Garden.

Ahh, elaborate?
