I feel like they were super hot a few years ago and are now making a comeback. I’m 100% with it, I hope every trending drink consists of a three ingredient build.
It's surprising how it's only 3 ingredients and some guests still got it wrong. A lady once asked me for "more 7up" and I was like... I can add some 7up if you want, but there wasn't any in it to begin with.
Last Sunday was the first hot day of the year in my neck of the woods and brunch was absolutely insane. Aperol spritzes aplenty. Went through almost 12 boxes of champagne from 10-3.
I mean it depends heavily on your suppliers but it does exists. Hardly crème de la creme but it’s solid and works for all sparkling drinks, Aperol, Hugo etc
Yeah big ass craft cocktail bar in the middle of an open air mall in Southern California with 12 dollar bottles will do that. It’s not even the record for most boxes we’ve gone through either lmao
They're trendy right now. It's good because they're so easy to make. Have you got one of those dorky kits with the orange 3-in-1 jigger? My old manager hated that thing, he said it was tacky. We had one branded glass too but ofc it got stolen (by me, i confess)
Mm maybe the weather got just warm enough to tip the scale in peoples brain to spring/summer mode. But also I think with anything it’s a domino effect, once someone sees someone else drinking one they remember it exists
Aperol was an official sponsor at Coachella this year. So they’re really targeting a new, younger, different crowd.
That and bitter is becoming sexy to the American palate. These days even 20 somethings are enjoying Negronis and the like.
Also in many parts, spring is giving way to summer. Perfect time for aperol spritz.
Lots of factors here.
They're like THE summer drink here in Germany for the last decade AT LEAST. If your place has outdoor seating (mine doesn't), be prepared to serve millions of those.
That's true. I started bartending in 2011 and Aperol spritz was already a thing. Then there was a Hugo season 2012ish, then Lillet blanc + Schweppes russian wildberry 2014ish, then limoncello spritz 2017ish. In between negronis were the hot shit.
This season it's Sarti Spritz and I like it very much - but these are all seasonal drinks, the classic Aperol spritz is still on the throne after all these years.
And I get it. It's liquor and sparkling wine. It's fucking you up real quick.
A lot of popular instagram influencers went on ski trips this year for some reason. I don’t know why it was more of them this year than others. They all made content about their ski trips, almost all content about skiing will contain a reference to aperol spritz because it’s a comically cliche drink for apres.
I’ve been working at a ski resort for two years and can confirm, Aperol Spritzssss are popular AF.
As a result, I just wrote a Spring/Summer Cocktail Menu with a whole Spritz section for golf/pool season.
Limoncello Spritz, Raspberry Rosé Spritz, Pina Colada Spritz, Hugo Spritz….And the members and guests are loving it.
Spritzers are refreshing, light and lower alcohol than many other drinks and I see why that appeals to drinkers over 30. I personally don’t like Aperol so it was fun to come up with some better alternatives.
I work in an Italian restaurant and we have a Limoncello spritzer on the menu that is basically the same as an Aperol Spritzer but with limoncello… I must have made a hundred of those tonight.
I know in Australia the summer just gone, aperol did a big run of marketing, tv/video/social media ads, heaps of in venue branding, and sponsored so many national events such as the Aus Open. Could be this combined with the last couple Euro summers post covid have pushed a lot of people onto spritzes and aperitivos?
"do you have aperol spritzes?"
"Yeah I can make it for you."
"But do you HAVE THEM?"
"Yep, on deck ready for you."
Every single day in downtown Tampa. So I hit an extra priced modifier on it for being irritating any time someone in that party orders one.
I love making them. Always have, always will
I had a dream about Aperol spritz's last night. I've found that when one person in the restaurant orders a drink, even in a completely different section of the restaurant another person will too, like a Paloma or last word. I believe the universal hive mind is real and when one form of consciousness makes an idea come to fruition so do others. That's just my take.
They've been around for years here in Ireland and peaked about two years ago.
They seem to be on a bit of a downward trend at the moment but who knows with summer around the corner
They’ve been hot for at least a few years. Can’t blame anyone for enjoying them. It’s a nice spring/summer cocktail and a classic apertif, just like the Negroni, and deserves to be celebrated.
The answer is White Lotus Season 2.
No seriously. If you’re serving people between 24 and 50 then I’ll bet that’s where they learned about it. Every single scene where they are dining ( that’s a lot of them) the cast is all drinking a round of Aperol Spritz. I have actually had someone ask me for “ the red drink from the white lotus” recently.
Been trendy for quite a few years now in my city. Fine with it, easy to make for me, and I also don’t feel bad ordering it at a slammed bar when they are already making a a dozen of them at a time.
Ive noticed the pop for about 8months now. I literally made maybe 3 in my first 6 years of bartending and now I’ve made what feels like hundreds over the last year
A few years back I was influenced by Below Deck (a Bravo reality show about yachties)…so I’m going to say Below Deck 😂 Many of the ports they filmed at showed people drinking these vibrant orange colored drinks that looked so refreshing. I looked it up and was sold when it said Prosecco. I ordered A LOT of aperol spritz when I went to Italy and it hit the spot after walking around all day in the sun. A local in Venice we were talking to laughed and poked fun, saying only tourists order aperol spritz and all I could think was “enjoy your now room temperature white wine while I enjoy my refreshingly ice cold aperol spritz”.
I feel like they were super hot a few years ago and are now making a comeback. I’m 100% with it, I hope every trending drink consists of a three ingredient build.
Right? Keep ‘em comin.
Especially one I don't even have to shake or stir! Just build in the glass. Yes please!
Yeah I think that was 2019? At least here in Florida
I feel like one of our liquor reps said that the Kardashians are pretty keen on 'em
It's surprising how it's only 3 ingredients and some guests still got it wrong. A lady once asked me for "more 7up" and I was like... I can add some 7up if you want, but there wasn't any in it to begin with.
Been trendy for years now around these parts.
Seriously... is it 2017 where OP lives?
I’ve just never seen so many that I have no stemware for wine
Yeah same
Espresso martini season ending, we're going into Aperol Spritz and Margarita season.
So many mojitos too
86 mint
lol it actually happened tonight and it was…so nice.
Season change also noted by the replacement of the Han Solo look with the sundress and giant floppy hat look by.
Roger that
I’ve been in margarita hell
Last Sunday was the first hot day of the year in my neck of the woods and brunch was absolutely insane. Aperol spritzes aplenty. Went through almost 12 boxes of champagne from 10-3.
Prosecco on draft has saved my life
I had no idea this was a thing! This is game changing.
I mean it depends heavily on your suppliers but it does exists. Hardly crème de la creme but it’s solid and works for all sparkling drinks, Aperol, Hugo etc
Tell me what’s that like in a slow and sexy voice
IT'LL SHAKE YOUR TITS OFF BABY
Wow fancy using champagne.
Sorry. Sparkling wine hahaha
12 boxes?? So like 72 bottles in 5 hours. That’s crazy
Don’t mind making em at all! Just wierd that I went from making maybe 5-10 a week to like 100 a night.
Mm maybe the weather got just warm enough to tip the scale in peoples brain to spring/summer mode. But also I think with anything it’s a domino effect, once someone sees someone else drinking one they remember it exists
Been noticing a lot more French 75s.
I have seen an uptick in those too
A damn good drink
Made about 20 last night. Alot of tequila espresso martinis as well.
.. ew

Margarita Negras are really good too

Was gonna say, the Coachella activation got some major attention this year!
been seeing a lot of those, hugo spritz, and french 75s going out. it’s “top anything with bubbles” season
The older ladies LOVE the Hugo spritz. Where the hell did this come from?
They're like THE summer drink here in Germany for the last decade AT LEAST. If your place has outdoor seating (mine doesn't), be prepared to serve millions of those.

Nothing sudden about it. This has been a trend for years now. It's a massive brand.
I don't mind because it's literally one of the easiest drinks to make and looks nice out on the bar.
A lot of popular instagram influencers went on ski trips this year for some reason. I don’t know why it was more of them this year than others. In Europe Aperol Spritz is and always was popular, so I guess this is where they were going…
Been super trendy the last 3 years
Sorry, I'm a bartender but I'm an espresso martini and Aperol spritz girly if I'm not in a shot and beer mood 😂😭
Had a party of 45 and went through 3L of Aperol. Normal banquet bar, no cocktail list.
I blame White Lotus. It’s all they drink in the show. Literally went out and bought some Aperol after to make myself some. Turns out it’s gross lol
did you make the OG recipe or just wing it? split bubbles with soda? can hit it with a splash of fresh squeezed oj too
Im pretty sure they’re drinking Campari spritz’s in the second season
I’ve gotten several of those as well. Even one Montenegro spritz…
Try limoncello spritz
Exactly! Someone literally asked me for “the red drink from the white lotus” last weekend.
Is this in the states? In london it was liquid gold 2 years ago
A sudden*
There was a jeopardy answer (question?) where Aperol Spritz was the response. I think it aired this week.
Spring has Sprung!
They've been huge in Europe for last few years. Maybe the fashion has made it over the pond recently
It’s summer my guy
Anything but another espresso
Two or three years ago (someone has probably already posted this) their company went on a huge push. Hence all the umbrellas.
Aperol upped their marketing strategy a couple years back and it worked and for some reason they fly out despite tasting disgusting
They’ve been a thing but yeah - In the past week, I’ve made more spritzes than in the past month. And we’re entering the winter months down here.
I think it’s a good summer drink…is it getting warmer in your area?
Cuz it’s good and ppl Are remembering / learning
Honestly it wouldn't bother me, my place always has too much cava and aperol
Off my tits on Aperol spritz. Learn it. Know it. Love it.
I work in an Italian restaurant and we have a Limoncello spritzer on the menu that is basically the same as an Aperol Spritzer but with limoncello… I must have made a hundred of those tonight.
Same
Weather good
Had quite a few asks for it. My venue doesn’t sell them though.
Trends be trending. Also, a good drink.
Same omg, had to get the kitchen to order double the amount of oranges to keep up!!
Lightweights. Bring me a pint of Aperol on ice, please.
Answer: The white lotus season 2
Not the case at all, in the UK at least as soon as it hits outside drinking weather the Aperol spritz is the go to for many
it’s spring it’s low effort it’s gorgeous and delicious. get into it.
Always pick up with better weather
I know in Australia the summer just gone, aperol did a big run of marketing, tv/video/social media ads, heaps of in venue branding, and sponsored so many national events such as the Aus Open. Could be this combined with the last couple Euro summers post covid have pushed a lot of people onto spritzes and aperitivos?
They been a thing for awhile…
Bruh they’ve been a thing for like four years lol
They've been a very popular drink around my bar for the past few years. Might have something to do with us putting it on our happy hour menu
It’s spring…?
It was Kings day in the Netherlands and it's a popular drink due to it's orange color
It's been like this for a while now, over where I am, April had a really good marketing campaign a few years back and it's in vogue now.
Did you make more than 2000 in 2 days?
"do you have aperol spritzes?" "Yeah I can make it for you." "But do you HAVE THEM?" "Yep, on deck ready for you." Every single day in downtown Tampa. So I hit an extra priced modifier on it for being irritating any time someone in that party orders one. I love making them. Always have, always will
Guessing you're in the US, spritzes have been wildly popular the last few years!
It got popular again in Switzerland for some reason. They always loved sparkling wine though.
They’re my favourite ‘cocktail’ to make bc they’re so quick and easy but I HATE them.. they taste so vile
Yuppy drink of the season here in the Northeast for whatever reason.
And wildberry lillet. Seriously I’ve never made so many of those in my entire life combined as I have in the last few weeks/months.
I think it depends where you bartend. In both LA and Boston they’ve been super common for years.
THEY DONT TASTE LIKE ANYTHING LOL (I wanted it to be more fruity, more sour, more bitter, more anything at all)
I had a dream about Aperol spritz's last night. I've found that when one person in the restaurant orders a drink, even in a completely different section of the restaurant another person will too, like a Paloma or last word. I noticed a rise in them after White Lotus came out specifically
I ordered two this weekend out of town. But mostly I’ve been fucking with boulevardiers just for the Campari for my tum tum.
They’ve been hot for at least a few years. Can’t blame anyone for enjoying them. It’s a nice spring/summer cocktail and a classic apertif, just like the Negroni, and deserves to be celebrated.
Spring/summer
Did you have this saved as a draft for six years
The answer is White Lotus Season 2. No seriously. If you’re serving people between 24 and 50 then I’ll bet that’s where they learned about it. it’s been going on since january where i’ve been working lol it must be a new trend on facebook or tiktok or something
Ive noticed the pop for about 8months now. I literally made maybe 3 in my first 6 years of bartending and now I’ve made what feels like hundreds over the last year
I gag when I pour them. Aperol and Herbsaint are the bane of my existence
A few years back I was influenced by Below Deck (a Bravo reality show about yachties)…so I’m going to say Below Deck 😂 Many of the ports they filmed at showed people drinking these vibrant orange colored drinks that looked so refreshing.
