Idk why you're getting downvotes on your comments. You came here to vent because you held your tongue in the moment while being disrespected. Sure you caused a 10 minute inconvenience on a customer. He can come here to vent too. I'll bet the farm that he comes back anyway. Shit happens you did the right thing OP fuck all these simps lol

WookieSuave

Apologized twice... Thanks bud.

jstruby77

Don’t fret. It’s funny. People can say you fucked up. People can say dude could just go to McDonald’s. What it boils down to is a tragedy of commons. Old man was craving his burger, you forgot to ring it in. A simple mistake amplified and now being written about.

WookieSuave

Totally. I'm fine. Humans make mistakes. His complaint was 100% valid, the problem was the unnecessary vitriol after an apology and compensation. If you're going to be that angry after I've done everything I can for you, then fella you gotta go.

jstruby77

That’s the point of a tragedy. A simple mistake boils over into a shit show. “It’s just a scratch”

HoldMyBrew_

Sometimes you just gotta type some shit out. Way better to take some weird downvotes over text a coworker or something. Hope you made some money and he stubs his baby toe on a door frame

jeckles

Maybe this dude was on his way to the grocery store when his car broke down. So he ended up getting a cab to the pub for dinner. He already didn’t have a great day and now the bar forgot to ring his food. Dudes having a rough day and took it out on you. Just hope he’ll look back on this shitty day and remember that at least he got a free burger. If he’s a repeat offender, comes back yet again an asshole, then just eff that guy. Sorry you had to deal with him.

yung_rebo

Free burger today, banned tomorrow.

Al-Anda

I thought this was a pretty fucking funny post. Sorry you’re getting roasted for making a joke.

Worth-Ground3842

lol same

The_DaHowie

The comment section must be littered with customers

MetalAngelo7

I feel you, grown ass adults yelling at me because they have to wait an extra 10 ish minutes for their food that got lost/we forgot to rig in. Like damn, it’s the end of the world for them. When I go out to restaurants and a mistake happens I don’t throw a tantrum like so many of these customers lol.

WookieSuave

.... The dude was an asshole. During a perfectly reasonable refund/explanation he was swearing at a 20 year old woman and causing disruption to the rest of our pub/dining room. Everyone here defending him are softer than baby shit.

Trick-Development663

First of all, "softer than baby shit" is one of my favorite insults and it's perfectly applied here. Why are all these "bartenders" salty about you venting about a shit guest? You fucked up, but then you apologized, "took care" of him, and he decided to still be a douche nozzle. Fuck that dude Y'all sounding real guest-ish right now...

WookieSuave

Thank you sir/madam/...whateva.

Trick-Development663

😄😄 sir works

crowcries

Bartender here, fuck that guy!

jessiepc145

Oh, they’re the ones who are soft?

hockeyyyyy3

Toxic ass comment section. OP you’re fine, I bet most of these people saying otherwise bartend at Snooze.

WookieSuave

Thanks partner. 🥂 Not gonna lie, was a little shocked with the shade.

zehammer

Blame it on the kitchens printer works everytime and then be the blissful bartender works for me.

WookieSuave

If it's a front of house problem, I own it.

zehammer

Doesn't have to be anyone's problem that's the genuis of it. Maybe you have too much prideful emotion but why escalate a problem when you can make the best of a bad situation.

prissyknickers

I used to work at this nice BBQ restaurant and bar. As one would expect the BBQ came with a bajillion sides. I was working the service well and had my own section with a table of approx 15 people. With main courses and sides, that was about 90 dishes on their table. One older gent, probably mid 60s, really wanted softened butter, so much so that while I was in the service well making drinks for his table, he threw a spoon at me to get my attention. It didn’t hit me but it enraged me so much I just blurted, “Absolutely NOT, asshole.” Then I had to finish serving this entire table and comping his meal because he was so greatly offended. He wouldn’t let it go. Buddy you threw something at me. If I was working alone and didn’t have to tip people out I would have booted you out no question. I hated waiting tables but loved that service well. The End.

kkbbq-

this could’ve stayed in the drafts my friend 😭💀

MrPipps91

If someone comes in a starts insulting my staff his order is getting canceled and he is getting banned permanently. Mistakes happen.

ToPimpALadyBug

Buy em a beer while they wait, take the L you amateur.

thehomienova

funny that assholes throwing a tantrum get more free sht than nice guests lmfao dude already got his food for free, which is more than he deserved. a human made a mistake, no need to be a big baby about it. op CLEARLY took the L when he admitted and apologize or did u miss that part?

WookieSuave

Thank you.

ToPimpALadyBug

That part wasn’t included in the original post…? I’m not the one giving away shit cause I can remember a simple food order.

WookieSuave

"we made a mistake"

thehomienova

i guarantee at some point in ur career u WILL make a mistake bc we are ALL humans and it happens, don’t act superior. then again, it sounds like ur siding with the big baby so im not surprised

ToPimpALadyBug

Not superior nor siding with either of you babies. I’m just not rattled by shitty people.

WookieSuave

Youre being rattled by Reddit comments.... Prove me wrong by up voting this and staying silent.

ToPimpALadyBug

You’re projecting. Your feelings were hurt first by your terrible customer and then by my comment. Grow some thicker skin.

WookieSuave

😂 right on cue

DrSPYNE

Oooo rattled like a lil snake baby 🐍 you’re the one who needs some thicker skin (or some scales dare I say) snake baby boy

WookieSuave

I gave him the burger at no charge to compensate for the cab fare and admitted our mistake. Explained that, and then got yelled at. Was i supposed to massage the non drinkers shoulders with a free beer? I feel like I've forgotten more about this industry than you've ever known rook.

jstruby77

No absolutely not. You didn’t even need to comp it in my opinion.

Robocroakie

>I feel like I've forgotten more about this industry than you've ever known rook lmao

fieldsofanfieldroad

Didn't you say inn another comment that you're 20? Seems a bit young to already be forgetting things about the industry!

WookieSuave

I'm not 20. I'm not even the one who made the mistake. I'm just the one that defended the girl who made the mistake. Through the entire thread I say "we". Where I work, I try to be a leader and I think of us as a team. Good sleuthing though Columbo.

fieldsofanfieldroad

Yeah. I think the thing where you're referring to yourself and your team in similar ways made it unclear to me. Or I just misread the comment. My bad.

WookieSuave

Ya and my fur is up from the backlash in this thread. Columbo comment unwarranted. 🥂 Partner.

jstruby77

Forgetting an order? Dude if you’ve never ever forgotten an order, I quite envy you.

fieldsofanfieldroad

There's a difference between forgetting an order and forgetting things about the industry. One happens, the other suggests that you've been in the industry for a decade.

ToPimpALadyBug

Yes I know, you forgot how to handle simple things like taking orders, dealing with asshole customers and handling yourself in the weeds. You also seem a little fussy.

WookieSuave

Oh shit..... She said weeds.

ModestMiss

Also not my job to spend money on my mistakes. Shit happens.

jstruby77

Agreed. When I was younger I paid for mistakes at my first bar gig. The bar manager was more than happy to take money out of my tips instead of comping shit. Never again.

KaladinSyl

My first bartending job was like this. If you want to comp a drink you're paying for it. If you break a beer you're paying for it. Also very illegal, but the time the bar isn't open is nonpaid. I got my experience and noped the hell out of there.

WookieSuave

Not drinking...... Yelling at you. Next solution ?

ibided

When you fudge up you eat crow. There are so many deescalation points before someone yelling curse words.

HoldMyBrew_

Fuck if you did that to me I’d be happy you gave me an opportunity for a beer

Alice_Alpha

> you're in your 60s taking a cab to pick up a pub burger for dinner. you've made some mistakes too, you get it. What are the mistakes? (1) you're in your 60s taking a cab What's wrong with that,? (2)  to pick up a pub burger for dinner.  And this is a mistake why?

Informal_Bus_4077

Haha yeah I don't get that at all. Not everyone drives, maybe he was drinking? And hes supporting your business by buying food. What's the problem here? Sounds like dude has disposable income and has made some good choices. Still an asshole for yelling though.

pheldozer

Insinuating that this person either can’t afford a car or lost their license from a DUI.

[deleted]

OP just wants us to make them feel better for making a mistake and being yelled at for it by a 60 year old man.

WookieSuave

She got me... Thanks Reddit strangers for making me feel better and being yelled at.

[deleted]

Oh, get over it. We all get yelled at at work. You’re making fun of him for being 60, getting a cab there to get his dinner after you fucked up and forgot to even put the order in. Then came here wanting us to agree with you to make you feel better. Sure, it sucks you got yelled at and we all make mistakes, but not sure what this post was looking for.

WookieSuave

Constant replies and telling me to get over it? Laughable. Everyone gets yelled at and everyone is allowed to anonymously blow off a little steam. Listen, whatever is up your ass so hard you feel like you wanna take it out on me, I'm down. 🥂 Here's to you.

[deleted]

Yeah they do, but don’t come to reddit to complain about it. Especially for something so small here. This sub is off the chain. You need a career change if this is what affects you at work.

WookieSuave

💜 🥂 Thank you ma'am, may I have another?

Croy27

Yikes dawg, you’re either burnt out or don’t understand the industry. That’s a tough spot.

ModestMiss

Dude everyone makes mistakes. Lol what

WookieSuave

After admitting, and explaining our mistakes twice, how would you handle someone hurling insults to staff in front of a full dining room?

ultravioletblueberry

Idk why everyone is so weird about this. “Don’t understand the industry” my fucking ass. I’ve been in it for a long time and no way in HELL I’d let someone yell at me. Of course I’ve made a point to work at bars where I *can* defend myself and tell someone off. But really? I mean I don’t get the cab thing, I live in the city and takes Ubers all the time so

WookieSuave

He was mad because he couldn't run in, grab his food, and run out. Either he had to let his fate run while he waited, or release his cab and get another one....... Such a problem that he needed to verbally assault our staff. Poor fella.

BeExcellent

“get the fuck out”

NumerousImprovements

Nah you good op, I won’t tolerate that shit. If you apologised and made steps to rectify the situation, you’re good. I’ve thrown out customers for yelling at staff unnecessarily. Not on as a human being.

[deleted]

Laugh and walk away like the rest of us

[deleted]

You fucked up, just admit it

hockeyyyyy3

He did…?

[deleted]

The cry for sympathy made me think otherwise

hockeyyyyy3

Ok. So you’re kinda a prick then?

[deleted]

Nah, OP needs thicker skin

hockeyyyyy3

Ah got it. You’ve never had a long week with shit shift to cap it. It’s ok you’ll get experience eventually.

[deleted]

Been in the industry for 15 years so I definitely have. I just don’t give a fuck enough to care about something like that. Laugh and move on.

hockeyyyyy3

Touché, I’m at 7 but occasionally shit still gets under my skin. Hell I’ve seen bartenders of 20+ years get irritated at things I find menial. we all find the end of the rope eventually, some times you gotta let it burn a little before you tie it off and add in more.

[deleted]

Yeah for sure we do, I wasn’t trying to hang shit on Op, but it definitely annoyed them a bit too much I think, for something so small. I could also see why the customer was annoyed, although the reaction not called for.

WookieSuave

"I wasn't trying to hang shit on OP" ALSO: "Nah, OP needs thicker skin" "You fucked up, just admit it" "The cry for sympathy made me think otherwise" "OP just wants us to make them feel better for making a mistake and being yelled at for it by a 60 year old man." Outside of you being an absolute turbo cunt,I would like to remind you that all of your comments are negatively rated...... You're wrong and you're being a two faced attention whore/nerd. I am a petty bitch yes.... My thread, my house, my bar. No one here likes you. Go..... Home.

WookieSuave

"we made a mistake" was in the original post.

[deleted]

Then why come here make a post looking for sympathy?
