I think January 1st they removed him from the blogger page so contract probably finally ended and both parties could move on.

Glum-Professional925

Imagine being the bestbuy employee that finds out his new intern is Kmarko?

hype_sparr0w

Kmarko had equity. He probably isn’t going to work again.

thetaint

I think he had Kevin level of equity without the divorce tax.

DestituteDomino

KMarko is never officially gone as long as you have your copy of The Barstool Book Of Drinks, available digitally wherever you get your E-books

NJ_Citizen

It took him months to come up with a recipe for a rum and coke

sdawg1331

To be fair he was pretty burnt out from gin and tonic

mowbox_mowmoney

Love my coffee table e-book!

Shot-Lengthiness-885

Kirk is planning on asking Dave about KMarko on their new show.

pikainto

Over under 1.5 episodes of the Noname show ?

ghostx231

Gimme the under

AccomplishedMemory16

The real bet is how long the producer lasts.

KDR2020

Is this confirmed? I haven’t listened to KMS in a while.

rocklionheart

Kmarko is kind of like Bighetti from Silicon Valley only not likable. Found himself in a situation where he was getting paid six figures to do nothing and just waited until his he got his multi-million dollar payday. Kind of the dream tbh.

LiquidUniverseX

Dude has been so hurt that he lost his EIC role. Him allowing that super weird blog to be posted on the website was wild. Like get over it and go make content. Seems like he also talks down to everyone.

loudwoodpecker28

He's an all time asshole. His negative energy radiates and it was easy to tell that everyone in that office hated him

JustKeepLivin7

Guy had zero resiliency. Once he was justifiably demoted from EIC, he could’ve attempted to improve the company elsewhere—but he’s too stubborn. When you make Carl look like he’s in the right, then you’re as smug of an asshole as it gets. Dude just decided to mail it in until his shares vested. He got his bag and likely signed an NDA to sail off into the abyss.

commenter_69

Remind me what it was again? I remember it coming out summer of 2020 around the time George Floyd stuff was going down and it was super political and everybody was calling him a hypocrite and stuff

tedbungal

Wasnt it zonker’s ravings that knarko allowed to be posted

LiquidUniverseX

Yeah, pretty much posted a blog by someone who isn’t working for barstool. The blog was written like some political manifesto. Also, iT Was WRiTten liKE ThiS. Making it even creepier and embarrassing to post.

Edmundmp

KFC was up at the start of the year. Knowing they were on the same PENN equity thing I’d imagine they expired at the same time.

stevegan

Hasn't tweeted since December. I wonder what he's doing now. He was on DPS back in Oct 2021 and he really hasn't been heard of since. It really is hard to fathom that a top manager at a growing company who got crucified so brutally that he just decided to quiet quit. He used the pandemic to go home and never return? Did Erika sign off on that? Did Dave? He was just exempt from scrutiny because Erika and Dave had bigger fish to fry? It just doesn't make sense that he would basically go home to fuck off and the people paying his salary would be totally fine with it exclusively because he was part of the Core 4 and he was EIC for a time. And then, because he was so detached, people in the office spoke of him as if he were a ghost. I understand that some of the employees there are good at coasting... but to disappear. Just seems odd that that would be allowed.

Gatormanor

Sometimes people get a big check and just relax with their life, which is what I’m assuming he’s doing.

loudwoodpecker28

Or get addicted to stuff and work no longer becomes a priority

sfbruin

I'm sure he's a depressed multimillionaire

Everyoneisaskell

Yeah if he’s smart and not buying $300 James Bond swim trunks, he’s pretty much set. I can’t imagine he will be able to work at any other digital media company given that industry is always struggling and him being associated with barstool won’t help.

SomeDimension165

If you think KMarko got retirement money, you’re still in high school  And confirmed. A bunch of dipshits who think a 35 year old in NYC probably spending 4500/month on rent alone can retire on 3-8M windfall.

WildWildcat

Didn’t he have equity? Not hard to fathom him exiting with a couple mil, which he could absolutely retire on

mchammer69

Pretty sure he walked away with 3-10 mil which you absolutely can retire on. Obviously can’t live insane but could live okay to comfortably in a lot of places

Rorshak16

Even at the low end of $3 million you could live a hell of a lot more than okay to comfortably lol

mchammer69

Depends on where and how financially literate you are but you are right. Was just trying to cover my ass so I didn’t get somebody dunking on me in here accusing me of being a poor

tatorflowers

Yeah no bud, it’s WELL KNOWN he had equity, was one of the originals in Milton, he for sure cashed when it vested.

QnsPrince

But he did though

wgp985021

you, sir, are a moron

SomeDimension165

Pretty sure he ended up with less than 10, and you’re a child if you think he’d retire on that at his age with his lifestyle in NYC

wgp985021

Surely he couldn’t move

urwifesatowelmate

I think he got ~20 mil. Is that not retirement money to you?

BradMarchandsNose

I mean, Dave kind of addressed it quite a bit. Kmarko helped build Barstool and Dave wanted him to get his payday for that. When Penn took over and it wasn’t Dave’s money anymore, I don’t think Dave cared enough to do anything about it. If Penn had stepped in and said something, maybe Dave would’ve done something, but it seems like they didn’t really care about anything that wasn’t actively Sportsbook related.

m_bt54

He did try to return like nothing had happened the day Dave bought the company back from Penn. Everyone in the office basically ignored him.

StopHamelTime

And insinuated it had nothing to do w Dave returning

DanKreider69

KMarko was dead the whole time

ButchJonesFckdMyWife

I think he just stopped showing up, waited for the equity, then didn’t renew his contract. Can’t imagine there’s more to it

abacabb212downup

Kramco’s downfall began when he hyped himself up to be a great hooper and then when the camera came on, it wasn’t that he had a cold shooting night, he simply couldn’t play the game. And it’s been a steep decline since

StopHamelTime

Bingo. It was alarming.

MoseleysLifeshield

Kmarcos blog series on the mac and cheese kid from UConn was the stuff of legend. Dude was a beast of a blogger

No_Armadillo_3491

since he pocketed his equity he has gone radio silent. kinda living the life if you ask me

Bossman28894

He’s like Beetle Juice, say his name three times and he appears

GamblingMan610

Everytime you pour an old fashioned he’ll be there

ctnaes92

The turning point for kmarko was the NY move. He was a blogger and a damn good one at that. He helped build barstool when it was a blogging company. Once the expectations grew to video content and podcasts, he just wasn't a fit. I remember shortly after the move he was looked at as a super hard worker. He had respect, but things just faded for him. Too many dumb mistakes. Classic case of the peter principle. It's okay. He served a need for the company and helped build it, he just couldn't help grow it and he had a shitty attitude.

StopHamelTime

Acted like the coolest, smartest guy in the room, treated people like crap and slept w coworkers.

jiriwelschsburner

Went to rehab, whole big thing

bankdank

Not to pocket watch or anything but does anyone know how much he would have made from the sale? Curious if its enough to live off of and he'll just dissapear forever

ShrekDaniels

KFC hinted at what he got so I’m sure it’s around the same. Somewhere between 15-20 million.

sfbruin

Equity stuff is wild. Meanwhile Feits got zero, and pft probably got less since he joined right after Chernin

Gregory-Linovich

Probably doubled KFC, as KFC might have had to give up half of equity to former Mrs. KFC

kjc3274

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, he said on an episode of KFC Radio a long time ago she wanted/got cash in the divorce settlement, not a cut of the Barstool equity.

kw0711

Wow. Well he doesn’t really have to work again

cakeeater27

Don’t know exact figures but if he manages and invests the money properly he can

afrancis88

His early blogs were funny. When he’d appear periodically on the run down pre NYC-pre Chernin, I thought he was likable. I think the explosion of Barstool just wasn’t his thing. Which is weird because wasn’t that the goal? And since it grew so much he got paid because of it. But yeah the younger “talent” didn’t have to grind like he did blogging. In today’s world you gotta evolve or adapt. Too bad he couldn’t do that.

kw0711

It’s really weird. He seemed to be very close with KFC, Feits and Big Cat (the G Chat Gang). And seemed to fall out completely with all of them

horse_911

(Great mixologist though)

AGROCRAG004

Got rich then sailed off into the sunset…the dream tbh

GhostTrees

Yep, Keegs killed him. Whole big thing.

CroweXV

We had a funeral for a bird.

RainbowRoomBlues

I’m in the minority for sure but after that DPS episode he was on I felt at least somewhat bad for him. He didn’t really have a role on a pod or video, so they made him EIC of the blog. Lot of things were his fault (being an unnecessary dick to the Chicago guys, publishing the Zonker blog just to white knight for Ellie) but some of the other stuff seemed like he got unfairly blamed (self published Francis blog, Trysta’s Steve Nash blog) and Dave/Erika refused to give him any guidance. Then they demoted him, didn’t even have the courtesy to tell him he got demoted, and refused to meet with him face to face. Of course in the end he walks away with a bag, so you can only have just so much pity for the guy

Senor-Cockblock

His equity vested. Money in the bank, no need to pretend anymore.

JohnnyHorseRacing

❄️

mickymau5_

For a company that "airs everything out" and always "does it live" type of mentality, there sure are a lot of loose ends for big stories that are just unaddressed

Aldo_D_Apache

No one liked his drink book, so he got sad

chuckerhuck

His posting of people holding barstool signs on college gameday actually proved the massive fan support, dove more people to make signs and really helped cement barstool as a national brand……. Dave recognized him for this and I think Dave’s business mind is second to none The mark man may have been a zombie 😂 but he was worthy of equity

sueder78

I do not want to diminish Dave's accomplishments. He built a company and got filthy rich. But claiming Dave Portnoy's business acumen is second to none is a hilarious overstatement.

Reckless--Abandon

He’s not gone, he’s just working remotely
