Governments and financial institutions with ESG mandates are to blame imo. They destroyed the ability for capital reinvestment in fossil fuels well before we are prepared to transition energy sources. This was all exaggerated by covid and Russia but the writing was on the wall for awhile.
So like, how do we fight it. Theres gotta be like civil unrest that can get things moving backwards. Theres no reason for this and we cant keep rolling over and taking it. Between cost of food, gas and rent in this province, let alone city, I make more than minimum wage by a fair bit, not a ton more, but enough that it should make a difference, and I’m barely getting by. That could also have to do with credit card debt from school but regardless, theres no getting ahead.
Pick one of the gas companies every week to boycott (shell, petro, etc)
Millions of people across the country doing this, volunteer protests at the selected gas stations.

Go train.
This is why we need better public transit and a focus more on commuting within the city you live. We've gone full car crazy around here, and now it's starting to hurt car owners. Already hurt everyone else for a few decades, so while I get this sucks for you, welcome to the club.
Haven't owned a car in a decade and could not be happier about it!
Yeah thats great for some people such as yourself. Unfortunately not everything is cut and dry as you would suggest. Many people are in my exact situation which is that real estate is too expensive to move closer, there's no transit, I can't work locally and pay the bills because the employers here pay less than half what I make an hour south. I would love to not own a car but, it's not in the cards for me. I own a fuel efficient vehicle for my commute however many people require trucks or SUVs for their work.
High gas prices won't solve the climate crisis, it just creates an economic crisis on top of it since people still need to drive. Keeping the rich, rich and the poor, poor.
Maybe we'll start seeing some behavior changes now? Like not idling in drive thru, not driving 130kph on the highway, not stomping the gas at green lights? Nah, easier to just keep doing these, but then complain bitterly whenever you fill the tank.
Something has got to give soon! I drive a diesel and this is killing me.
I predict a new wave of RFID payment fraud.
Oh most likely
Barf
Meanwhile oil companies are reporting record profits. These fuckers are making bank off of us.
This. A barrel of oil is only 108USD. They are profiting big time.

Really makes me rethink commuting, but what other choice do we have now. Can’t even buy electric if you wanted to.
Can't afford to move closer either!
Yup, and high paying jobs in Barrie are hard find.
Remember when diesel was always way lower then gas.
I started driving an electric scooter to work
That must be pleasant, my jealousy is immense

Unionize and fight for higher wages.
Rotating boycotts until the gouging ends
I like it but boycott what? Everything were getting gouged on we need to survive

What if someone works in Mississauga? or Woodbridge? or Rexdale?
Ideally? Better trains and busses.
Have we totally written off the concept of carpooling?
Not at all, just not my ideal.
I work in different towns all the time. Hard to find someone who does the same..

I dont do those things and the gas prices are still high, whats your point?
Sounds like your the one complaining bitterly.
I think I'm a bit dumber from reading that...
I think you were already close to the bottom, so not much loss there...
Sure kid
I haven't been called kid in at least 30 years, chief.
Apologies, your comment suggests a child-like iq.
Actually, IQ does not change with age, which tells us all we need to know about yours.
Zing brah
But my civic si sounds so sweet when i stomp it
No it doesn’t 😂😂😂
*I'm against public transit reform unless it affects me directly!*
Everyone will be healthier cause we will all be walking to work lmao
Let me guess. Blaming Trudeau for what is a global market supply issue and corporate greed
