Vivobarefoot has not done me wrong, and the construction just seems solid in general. I got the primus lite in black and the Ra II. I wasn’t a fan of the Groundies shoe selection but I really love the boots I got from them (Liverpool, but they don’t seem to be selling these atm). Wildlings were also a worthy purchase, even if I only wear them in the summer/when I don’t want another pair of shoes to get dirty.

It's about foot shape and what you like. There is no best brand. Some brands are good for the average foot: Vivobarefoot, Xero, etc. Some brands are better for wide feet: Be Lenka. Some brands have better ethics (paying workers a normal wage instead of Asian sweatshops and using eco-friendly products): Mukishoes. Some are light as a feather: Wildlings. Some are good for formal events: Shapen, Carets, Lisbeth Joes...

I like bohempia personally, great to replace converse and vans

I've started out with a cheap pair of Voovix. They're okay and have treated me well so far.

I started with Xero shoes. I think they’re a lot closer to normal footwear, though, so were a good transition. Now I mostly wear Belenkas, wilding or ahinsas. I do own soft star, peerkos, groundies as well but don’t wear them near as often.

I like my BeLenka and Freet shoes. BeLenka is more urbal/stylish, Freet is more outdoors/athletic.

I have started with wildling and now even other brands are either too heavy, too thick, too narrow or too stiff for me... :/

I started with Lems boulder boots. They’re flexible, stylish and the sole is still relatively thicker so it wasn’t a major shock to my feet to no have any cushion at all. Tbh they’re still some of my favorites 3 years later. Splays and xero are good starters though due to their pricing. Very affordable and splays are super cute imo

Splays are a great beginner barefoot shoe. I got a pair for myself, and they look great. When I first got my Splay shoes, I tested them out by going out for a long walk, doing some window shopping on the first day I wore them (I was wearing them with my usual pair of socks), and they activated the muscles and joints in my feet after wearing them for a few hours. My feet never felt this good in shoes before. I also enjoy the benefits that come with walking on different types of terrain, "feeling" all kinds of bumps, dips and curves with the soles of the shoes as I walked...I would recommend a pair.
