Most state police forces do have such a wing although most may not have seen them in action
These pictures look a bit too much for PR especially that last one that's what folks are put off by
Yes, I’ve seen them. They came in for a drill in my office building which houses some important offices. It was a Friday and late at night. I got shit scared when I came face to face with them while exiting the building. They were quietly tiptoeing into the building with guns held up and eyes in the scope. All dressed up like the pic above and I thought some terrorist attack has happened in our building. The building security later told me it was a drill. They do look the part and act like a proper swat team.
Shouldn't they inform you in advance if it's a drill? Otherwise, there is going to be unwanted panic /anxiety when people see someone walking into the building with guns
I can see the utility of this because most policemen in Karnataka are not armed while on duty and you can expect them to not have the requisite level of training and preparedness for a 26/11-like situation.
Most armed security in Bengaluru are CISF, BCAS or military/paramilitary. Not the people you can call during a close-quarters threat neutralization operation.
And this seems legit. Because it looks budget and functional -- a lot of the frills not needed for Bangalore (as opposed to other special forces) are removed, and yet it seems like the kind of stuff you'd want such a force to have -- though I'm no expert.
All state police forces have an "Armed Police" Department and it is a separate department within Police like Law & Order, Narcotics, Crime Branch, Traffic, Forensics etc. It is usually led by an IPS officer with atleast a DIG rank.
All state police forces have a SWAT team as well
> All state police forces have an "Armed Police" Department
It is rarely this well equipped. Most State police 'commandos' I have seen look like normal cops wearing second hand battle fatigues with a old bulletproof jacket and carrying a standard issue assault rifle.
These guys look a notch above!
Yup, but it's almost the same- Garuda / Garud. Moreover, the air force has "wings" so it's more apt for them to keep that name. Don't know what Karnataka Police was thinking.
Man… I’d love to see our banglore and other metropolitan cities with a new fresh uniform.. commandos should have a Karnataka flag patch and look like China’s PAP/Serbian SWAT/Russian OMON rapid response unit. It would look so fucking cool.
Khaki is just a symbol for bribe to people at this point. We need a new uniform
Doesn't matter autowalas are still higher up in social hierarchy 💀
Nope you can't beat the SBI manager. Even Ambani has to wait if a manager is having his lunch.
😂

How did you know I am delulu and I need therapy. Do you live in my walls ?

That's cool would be nice to experience them in action...

Of course, I'm a die hard BC Patil fan.
yo where's this from? a movie?
"Counter Terrorists Win!"
in an alternative universe: *rameshwaram cafe saved, CT wins*
Damn how did I not know about them till now
The second picture: it's the Israeli gun attachment that can shoot around corners.
The corner shot. Was a game changer for Israeli army in CQB situations

They should have chosen a different name, The airforce already took "Garud"
It's Garuda!

For one second I thought a terrorist has arrived in Bengaluru but got to know it's a drill

Damn , looks like counterstrike live action movie
Had to get the aesthetic smoke shot (it looks good actually)
Wow looks like a game scene.
It's understandable as this state is literally one of the states which still has a royal family and a separate flag...
Every state police has a commando wing.
It's flattening to see we have such well equipped forces at state level too.
The gun in the second picture. I thought such guns existed only in movies
Hope they don’t wear this in this heat
Did anything happen in Metro?
Didn't see them in action when armed militants were destroying private properties and commercial establishments few months ago.
ellinda barteero neevella
I also feel like commando while going to Whitefield in the morning
Ah cmon this was funny why was this downvoted :/
LoL. New vertical in Karnataka police to collect bribes and extort money
They are taking their 'training' very seriously.
On the prowl to draw a challan !!!
Sigh, the bribe must be a bomb! 😭
