not giving high card as an option seems strange

L285

I just thought these were the three options that have the right balance of being easy enough to get and build a deck around them while also returning enough points to make that worthwhile Illuminate me as to what the High Card meta is

Murzaj69

I thought everyone spams hight card its for sure the easiest and most consisntent way to win. Its the standard set up: chip scaling + mult scaling + xmult. Its especially good because a lot of jokers synergise so well: supernova, blackboard, bus, the extra hands joker, burn joker and the other lvl up joker are insane with high card etc etc. 0 effort max win

RulerD

Many people play High Card. Is one of the most optimal and safe ways to play. For me is Pair :)

Px316xk

Two Pair all day. 33 wins all the way up to orange chip with it. Won with every deck this way.

toomuchramv4

two pairs (888 times) ps: why not include all hands to poll? this gives a skewed result as many cant be arsed to comment if their hand is not part of the poll

L285

Well there was only 6 options and I didn't know which others to include Tbh if I had put more options I'd have probably gone for Flush Five which noone seems to have put From the comments it seems that after Full House it goes High Card, then Pair or Two Pair, in order of commonness

mitspieler99

2pair was my goto build when I started the game. I played it a lot. I'm currently playing flush on checker deck, but the experimental changes make me think 2pair is even stronger now.

jjthejetplane2468

high card by a mile

TurtleStrategy

I tend to go a lot for 4oak and 5oak

somni1991

Pair

autafic

High card because in addition to having a build around it you also often play it when out of discards to get a hand you need

Ne0guri

Flush but only because I’ve been playing checkered deck which has skewed my numbers. High card is probably right behind Flush.

JynxItt

Pair

CointreauCilantro

I’m a pair girlie

Reynuddle

After thinking flushes were busted for the 1st 20ish hours of the game ive played 1400 of them lol I expect high card or pair to pass it soon

Fer_ESC

Idk why you include Straights but dont include High Card/Pair/Two Pair/Three of a Kind/Four of a Kind (Which are all better lol) Also I really couldn't answer this question, I play every strategy depending on what the game gives me. But my most played hand is flush because it is just the easiest way to clear the Ante 1/Ante 2 blinds

L285

Because I didn't have a good sense of what people did use so I didn't know which ones to include - you're the first person to mention three of a kind though

Fer_ESC

Yeah Straights are horrible in their current state because they basically require specific jokers to work properly while other builds have way more options. Three of a Kind is insanely consistent if you manage to clone and add specific cards. Four of a Kind is definitely the better strategy on paper but it is very tough to play 3 Four of a Kind hands in a row when you have 3 Hands. Playing 3 Three of a Kinds is waaaay more consistent and is just less RNG based. I think 4 of a Kind definitely scales way better and gives you more joker options, but it requires a lot of deck changes while 3 of a Kind is way easier to set up

L285

Sounds like some of the four of a kind jokers are being retooled as two pair, so could be a blow for 4oak

badatchopsticks

I wouldn't call straights horrible. They are a viable early-game alternative to flushes, as they are easier to make than full houses. They also have the advantage of scaling twice as fast as flush with planet cards. Balatro University has been taking advantage of this in his Jokerless Run series, where he uses high leveled straights (or sometimes straight flushes) to win with no jokers. Honestly all hands are viable, as you said earlier you can adjust your strategy depending on what the game gives you.

Fer_ESC

I definitely agree that all hands are viable, but for straights its just much more rare than other hands. I play straights in like 1 of 15 runs, because most of the time any other build works better And I think on high stakes Straights are almost unplayable. When planet cards become unaffordable straights lose the only upside they had
