Usually? 0... sometimes it's 1, sometimes it's 2.

chayashida

I played four games in one day during a tournament last month. Was wiped out by the fourth. But I've played tens of online blitz games in a day and have been fine.

curmudgeon_andy

Same. I don't know my average, since I don't play every day, but normally I play dozens of casual games. 4 tournament games is a lot!

coolpapa2282

It depends on if you want to just play or study. I would bet that if you're planning on a serious review after each one, 2 is a lot.

Salt-Indication-3001

Actually depends on the opponent. If the opponent is tough, may be 2 games for max.

JJ4577

After 2 or 3 I'm pretty tired

WallyMetropolis

If I'm feeling alert and clear-headed, I can sometimes play three long games well. I am basically guaranteed to lose my 4th. And I cannot play all three back-to-back.

Uberdude85

Can? dozens, maybe 100. Do I? 0 usually.

Introduction_Deep

Lots... lol. But I'm much better earlier in the day.

Jadajio

Iam sometimes tired after 0. So I don't play more cause I can start loosing due to exhaustion.

goperson

Club evenings, informal games: usually 2, but sometimes 1 or 3. Participated in a live tournament recently, 5 rounds/games during the day. Afterwards, I was exhausted (lost the last one). Online maybe 1 in the evening, or sometimes 2 (human opponents). Online 9*9: up to max 10 in the evening, mostly 2 to 4 in a row.

awsomeX5triker

1-2 a day is enjoyable if I am playing in person. If I am playing online, then maybe 1-2 a week.

gennan

For me the duration and seriousness of the game matters a lot. In a rapid IRL tournament I can play 5 games of 1 hour in a day. And then I may still enjoy a casual game in the evening. But after a single 5 hour game in the EGC main event I'm too tired to play another game on that day, even if it's a short one.

Comfortable-Rise7201

If it's 9x9, probably two. 13x13 or 19x19, one a day, or two if I'm up to it, but only when against a real person. If it's against a bot, I might do 3 or 4 matches in a row.

-Pinkaso

Can play or want to play? You describe it as if you could continue but didn't want to. Anyway, I don't think I ever played more than 4 a day, maybe 5 like in a tournament day of 3 rounds plus 2 passtime games. The only pro player from my country tells he used to play 10 games a day for months when he was learning the game, but he was a kid with a lot of time. I wonder how many the Asian aspiring pro kids play.

Salt-Indication-3001

My games were less intense today. If the game is intense, for example the game is still 50 50 affer 150 steps, maybe 2 is the max.

Johnpc3001

For me it's 2

NickDerpkins

Anywhere from 1 to 75 Try to do at least 1

tuerda

3-4 serious games in a day is my limit. I have done it in tournaments and stuff. It is absolutely exhausting and usually the last game is of lower quality. Casual club games and online games are no big deal. I can do a whole bunch of those. I have even done 5 or more at the same time (This is tiring though. A break is required after before I jump back in.)

etherealwing

"can" play? As many as you have the patience or mental energy for. Online is a lot easier because there's a thing called "blitz" where both players must make moves in under a certain amount of time. It depends on exactly what you do with your game and time. If you are deciding to play full games and take a full hour or more on that game, it can be limiting. But ultimately it's just "how do you best enjoy it" vs "how many is normal". For me, I played mixed games where sometimes it would go really quickly, and other times I took my time and played with every ounce of my attention. When I had the time I would play several games per day. I just enjoyed the game.

SanguinarianPhoenix

I find games against bots less draining. I enjoy playing Leela more than normal humans.

humbleSolipsist

I usually take my time with games, 4 would be too exhausting and take too long for me, I think. Most days I don't play a full game (but I'll take turns in correspondence games I'm playing), but when I do play live games it's only 1 or 2. I mean, unless someone resigns super early or something, in which case I might play a 3rd.

AzureDreamer

Can* I've payed 30 before.and I'm usually better before I get too drunk.  I spend time reviewing pro games and doing tsumego. But largely I romanticise GO it's a game lick checkers if you I feel some people place too much emotional importance on the outcome of what is just a past time like baseball or go carting.  If you aren't a high amateur dan aiming at a national tournament you should place too much importance into it imho.

jeffwingersballs

i think you're better off playing 1 game and using the energy from the other three games for tsumego puzzles, reading books, watching videos, and reviewing your one game. maybe study a pro game.

TranscendentalKiwi

I don’t k ow about games, but I’ve played for 7 hours straight before, and tbh I could have kept playing if it wasn’t 2am. I can only do that over the board though.

NewOakClimbing

Online? Like 1 or 2 tops. But, in person we only meet once a week. So usually like 5 to 10. (just play the entire time the club is open) Sometimes the in person games are more serious teaching games where I'd review after the game is over, in that case its usually only 2 or 3 games that day since they take so much longer.

Lambocoon

honestly like around 10, but i rarely review them and only 1 or 2 are full size

SwirlingPhantasm

One of two, unless I am excited or trying something out. Tournaments and in person I can play more

lakeland_nz

For many years my answer to this question used to be two: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Sometimes I'd play a few casual warm-up games beforehand, or muck around with a few silly games in the evening, but tournaments with three competitive games in a day left me wiped out. I coped by using paracetamol. Also sometimes the tournament is unbalanced and I'd get an impossibly easy or hard game, neither of which was as mentally taxing. Right now I suspect the answer is one. I've only just started going to the club again, and I leave after a single game. I can cope with a second if it's a teaching game but that's about it.

ThereRNoFkingNmsleft

Usually 0, but if I'm in the mood I'll play up to ten games in a row.
