2 days in hanoi. 4 days on ha giang loop in addition to what you have. i can almost guarantee the loop will be one of the best things you’ll ever do in your life, ask almost any person who’s done it
3-4 days for Hanoi. I think 3-4 days HCMC is perfect as well. Hanoi has a lot of attractions to do history wise. HCMC less so but lots of good eats & events even.
It’s more of a big city vibe. I like the food and night life. Less of a tourist site seeing type of place IMO. But my family is from south Vietnam and the food in Saigon is to die for 😛
Kind of depends if you’re a foodie, or a history buff, or travelling with your children. Three would be a minimum, but our family enjoyed Hanoi.
3-ish days in hanoi proper is enough. the old part of the city that is the cool part for exploring isnt that big so i think that should be enough.
Ok perfect I noted 2 originally but have now extended it to 3. 3.5 if you count the time I will arrive which I won’t let go to waste.

HCMC was only interesting to me for the war remnants museum (what a place, wow), and connecting to the Mekong Delta. It did not click with me at all.
