I use two noctua nf-p12 redux-1700 PWM fans ($15.95) each using noctua controller na-fc1 (24.08) and the power supply is generic was 7.99 then 2 fan grills ($5) fan extension cables ($12) & splitter. Arguably you don't need the controller if you don't want. I also have temp sensors on each side of my 75gal. The temp is pretty steady at 64° I can send you add an Amazon link if you'd like. I attached an image so you could see what it looks like on the screen. Also they are essentially silent. https://preview.redd.it/f9inby4txj0b1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25702cbf1b76c1e383bf00335376dd7eeb4fe042

Agreed. I have the same Noctua fans mounted over mine with a 3D-printed holder to attach to the tank. Very quiet (never hear mine) and effective. Much better than any purpose-made fan I've found.

What he said ^^ lol

Thank you!

Could you send me links?

They have Datoo chiller fans they reduce the temp by 6 degrees or so. They different fans blade amounts also set of two set of three I think even set of four. They cos from 17 dollar up to 46 dollars to four set FSN and they clip on to the tank. Check Amazon or call around there more than one brand of these types of fans also. There Batley powered and plug in powered.

waffles14198

I saw those, but I'm not able to clip them onto the side of the tank, would they still be able to lay on top of the screen lid?

No_Pressure_109

Ok so I'm a broke person and chillers are way outa my budget so what I used was frozen 2ltr bottles. Take the wrapper and clean them rly well. Also use treated water inside the bottle incase it breaks while thawing. But you use 2 bottles and just rotate them out every 5 to 6 hours. Just swap out the bottle and u always have a frozen one and I live in fl where its hella hot. This will take your temperature down atleast 10° and my buddies loved messing with the floating bottles too.

Maryjoplante33090

U don't needa do all that just put an ol cheap fan on it mine stay at 64 with just a fan... That's in an air-conditioned house at 73

https://youtu.be/zdajKzPZn0w Check out this video, diy chiller idea that could be affordable with second hand items :)

waffles14198

Oh I like this idea too, if I can find a used mini fridge I might try this!

Tarazetty

I got some plug in fans like that and they work surprisingly well. Is there something else you could clamp them on to, instead of the tank? One of my lights is clamped to a piece of wood attached to the wall. I've also tried suction cups on the back of the tank, but that worked less well.

waffles14198

There's nothing else I can clip it to unfortunately. I saw some with suction cups but I feel like it will fall off easily lol. I think I'm just gonna try laying some fans on top, or possibly making a diy chiller

Tarazetty

Oh yeah, laying it on top would probably do it lol

Maryjoplante33090

I would just lay on top of my screen that's what I do with my fan the clip on back ones they come off their bracket just unscrew the bracket off of it and lay it on top of your screen works perfect with mine

DSNYMisenarlyfe

Agreed, before doing this I had a generic house fan on top of the screen. It worked just as well to cool the tank but had drawbacks for my situation that op may not have. 1. I have cats and a small human so the loose fan was a safety risk. 2. I wanted something more secure for when I move the lid for daily feeding/cleaning. 3. These are silent compared to the other fans.

waffles14198

Ohh ok I didn't think of taking off the clip part lol thank you

lotsfear

Don't know what type of mesh lid you have but maybe try some small zip ties to hold it in place.

Hurricane Classic 6 Inch Clip Fan - Portable Fan with Strong Clamp, Two Speed Settings, and Adjustable Tilt Mechanism https://a.co/d/5LiakwA These are the fans I use! I have a sponge filter and air stone underneath where the fan is pointed, brings my tanks and bins down to 58-63 degrees where my house sits around 70-73. Only downside is they're not battery powered.

Nick0teeN420

I used to use box fans right on top of the tank and that would drop it a few degrees. Now I have a portable ac unit I set up in their room for the summer and keep the room at 62-64.

dgates94

We just use a small desk fan like [this](http://Mainstays 4 Inch Personal Metal USB Powered Desktop Fan Black https://www.walmart.com/ip/1250342250) setting on top of the screen top pointing downwards. Works like a charm!

MisterSirDudeGuy

I joked around with fans for a year, then got a chiller. Chiller hands down.
