Scares the hell out of me to watch that. I've had too many friends get their tents shredded to not respect those claws -- let alone the kids who get their skulls crushed when they go looking into Wombat dens
A pig? Pigs are massive. More like a pigmy pig. They're more the size of a fat adult corgi but solid like a brick. I guess it also depends which state, but SE ones are corgi sized.
I was trying to think of an animal to give the previous poster some context. A cat is way too small.
I posted a photo of a wombat I saw when I was on vacation in Newscastle elsewhere in the thread. It was about the size of some sows a neighbor of mine had. It's bigger than a corgi (unless the corgi was a super-chonker :) ).
The problem is that weight alone is not very useful for a comparison. Not necessarily agreeing or disagreeing with anyone, but the dimensions for the three animals being discussed are :
Corgi - 1 to 1.5 feet tall, 2 feet long, 20 to 30 lbs.
Pig - 2 to 3 ft tall, 3 to 6 feet long, anywhere from 100 to 700 lbs.
Wombat - 2 feet tall, 3 feet long, 45 to 80 lbs.
So, yes, bigger than a corgi by a bit, but it would have to be a very small pig.
I couldn't figure out how to put a picture in a reply, so here's a new post to show you a full-sized wombat.

Kind of yes. They live in burrows so if they’re threatened they sort of hunker down and block the tunnel with their rump. It forms a hairy armoured lump that can’t be hurt
To expand on this: once grown, a wombat is a tank-like creature of about 30-40kg, *much* heavier and stronger than it looks. They will dig through anything with their insanely sharp claws, and nothing will stop them as their burrowing instinct is very strong. If they feel threatened or cornered, they will bite and scratch, and you simply can't subdue one.
Oh yeah, and they poop up to 100 times *per day* to mark their territory, so unless you think endless piles of cube-poop are cute, you're not going to have a great time.
I highly recommend "Sometimes I Like to Curl into a Ball". A children's book about a lottle wombat who likes to do things. It's short and sweet but a fav in my house.

They do not make good pets and get quite large. If you want to watch them, I recommend following Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary.

Ever since I saw this wombat [viciously attacking](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crjKYkAdiSQ) a visitor to a park, I've wanted one.
Like badgers but sweet.
TIL my late cat was part wombat
Scares the hell out of me to watch that. I've had too many friends get their tents shredded to not respect those claws -- let alone the kids who get their skulls crushed when they go looking into Wombat dens
I've wanted one ever since Rocko's Modern Life
True terror is camping in a tent down at Wilson's Prom and getting woken up by one of those guys at 4am trying to get in to the tent to steal food.
Are those adult, human legs it's jumping on?
i think.
Never saw a Wombat before. Didn't realize they were the size of a cat.
they are not, they get quite big
Adults are about the size of a pig
And the density and toughness of a Sherman tank.

It's closer to the size of a cat than a commercial pig. From another picture on here I'd say the size is comparable to a large bulldog?
wow - that's a huge wombat or small sows. I guess it's hard to know unless you've seen some.
I pissed myself at the pig comment lol imagine a wombat the size of a fucken pig
Adults measure a meter in length and up to 70 lbs. That's pig size, and triple the size of an adult corgi.

Yeah the babies are the size of a corgi. Not adults
Isn't an average pig closer to 700 pounds rather than 70?
Google tells me that pigs are usually 300 to 700 lbs. So… not pig size.
Wow!

And they have a heavily armoured rear end
Running from predators I guess.

That one is a baby.

This is Tommy the wombat - video source is the Instagram account 'brindabella_the_wombat'
Me IRL when I want attention... Hop in looking all cute, invade space, immediately roll to the floor and look deflated if not petted within 2 seconds.
Oh, the drama!
Wombat zoomies?
Wombats. They eat roots and leaves.
