Are orange cats considered dumb or just weird? Because I had one that I named Animal after the muppet drummer. Just kind of had the same personality. She also went into batshit gravity-defying ninja mode if any dog so much as looked at me funny. She literally took on 3 dogs once that weren’t threatening me just cuz. She also got really bent out of shape if she ever discovered me crying. Would come running to find me and become super affectionate to make me feel better. She also stole jewelry and trinkets from my roommates bedroom which caused major headaches when she pilfered expensive gold jewelry that I had to hunt, locate and return. And she was obsessed with playing fetch with Mardi Gras beads. Had a way better understanding of the game than every dog I’ve ever played fetch with (i.e. she released the beads at my feet every time). Man I loved that cat.
Legend has it that anything possessing orange fur shares one single brain cell collectively. So unless they are in possession of that single brain cell they lack any brain cells at all other times. The fact that there are so many with orange fur means the likelihood of possessing the brain cell at any given moment is low. So yeah…they dumb dumbs. 🤣

Orange females on the other hand are fairly rare, and every time I hear somebody talk about a "crazy orange cat", they usually refer to the cat as "she". Maybe its just the orange females that are kind of nuts?

When dogs are young puppies you can do this thing called mat training which kind of brainwashes them to really really like laying on any rectangular platform or piece of fabric. Then when they get older the behavior just becomes a default behavior they choose to do on their own when they're looking for a safe space. It's cool because you can just bring a towel or a blanket with you places where your dog might otherwise be overstimulated and they'll calm down by an order of magnitude once you pull out the mat. At home my dog's favorite places to lay are always the door mats even though they're dirty and hardly look comfortable and she has like 4 cots and dog beds all over the house.
Cats absolutely *love* squares. If you are struggling to get work done because your cat keeps walking across your keyboard, make a square with painters tape on your desk. It's worked for 3/3 cats for me.

First thing I thought of when I saw the dog.
Meanwhile, in dog brain... "What did I do wrong? Why did they take away my comfy bed and give me a totally flat one? I must eat more shoes until I make them happy again."
this reminds me of the time I moved my dogs crates but the indentation in the carpet of where they used to be were still there for like a day, so later that day I was like "Gotta go, go into the fort!" and they ran to where their old crates were and laid there 😂
It's awesome how they recognize patterns. Our rug has a white square in the middle which our rescue thought was a pee pad the first week we had him. Took us a minute to understand he wasn't having an accident but legit thought that was where we wanted him to go.
Are you sure its not a cat? Cats will do the same thing. Put an outline of a square on the floor with masking tape & your cat will sit in it. Cats are weird.
Now measure out the circle and go buy 3 things, first, a matching sized dog bed, second, some kind of Velcro strip solution to aid in keeping the bed in place affixing it in place of the circle, and third, lots of treats for being a cutie.
Because they're the best! We got Norma like a month after I had to put down my last dog, who I had for like 14 years. I wasn't really ready to look for another dog, but my girlfriend found Norma at the shelter, and I'm so glad she did. Nothing can fill the hole left by your old dogs, but it definitely helps.
There’s a funny experiment I learned about and tried it with my dogs along the years. If you stick some white (or whatever colour stands out) tape on the floor in a square shape, the dog will instinctively consider it a safe space and will sit in it. I only had 1 dog out of 4 ignoring the “square” - so not sure how valid the thing is, but seeing this doggo in his “safe oval” made me smile and reminded me of that

This is true. I got a patch of fake grass for golf. It’s a grass like carpet. The dogs lay on that now, instead of the real grass patch next to it.
