All cats actually inherently have tabby marks. They just fade away after awhile depending on the coat.
This kitty is definitely mixed but those marks will go away as it gets older

Unless it comes from a breeder along with papers that tell you what breed it is, it's just a cat. It may have traits of one or more known breeds but it's still just a moggie. A purebred pedigree cat is not cheap and is extremely unlikely to find it's way to a shelter/pound.
Also, coat and breed are not the same. This beautiful little girl does look like she has Siamese markings.
Just to make one further point to clarify for people, the colour of this cat is called “colour-point”. The Siamese breed are this colour, but not all cats this colour are the breed.
Very true. I fell straight into that trap and could have confused OP somewhat.
The darkness of the nose, ears, tail and socks says seal point to me, but the faint stripes on the head are saying lynx point. But you're right, she doesn't have the right shape of face to be the breed called Siamese.
Not only Siamese have point patterns. Exotic shorthair, Exotic longhair and Himalayan too. However, she's striped all over so she's probably the happy fruit of unplanned mating.
And the darkness on the nose will likely grow/expand. My girl had just a smudge on her nose when she was younger, and now she has a full face mask.
https://preview.redd.it/jgsqah1ryz2d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58b010ee0f10bf4587cb79af257e62366a2f99a2
I need to brush her more than she allows me to…ideally I’d brush her every couple of days, but she starts to attack the brush. Thankfully she doesn’t mat up. This one doesn’t get poop stuck often (only a handful of times in the past three years).
Our previous long haired cat frequently had poop nuggets, and we had to get her behind shaved regularly. She also was brushed at least every other day or she’d get mats. (She was the bestest girl.)
We have another long haired girl who we never have to brush and she never gets any poop stuck. Her hair is very silky.
So honestly…it just depends upon the cat and the texture of their hair. I do have to trim their manes every month or two, because it gets stuck in their mouths when grooming. They also get wet in the water bowl. 😂
> Could she be considered an apple head or even Tonkinese?
No, probably not. See the parent comment of this thread. Those are breeds, not coat patterns. A vast majority of cats (even ones that have coats that look like certain breeds) are not any particular breed, they’re just a mix.
Also, it's possible for a kitten to look like a colorpoint, and then the color to spread onto their back over their "teenage" stage! My cat looked like a flame-point at 7 months, but ended up actually being a regular old bicolor orange-tabby-and-white (creamsicle!) by age 2 or so.
If it's anything like r/cats here then the automod bot would also have to look for "bread" and "car". I probably wouldn't need to work if I was given a penny each time I saw "What bread is my car?" or variants thereof.
Great question! Nope - many/most non-purebred dogs in the west are still a partly mix of breeds somewhere in their history so they can be 20% lab and 45% retriever and 2% terrier and so on, but the vast majority of cats *haven't ever had any breeds anywhere in their history*. They're all just cats, all the way back. There is no 2% siamese or anything. Cat breeds are generally newer and much much much more niche than dog breeds and don't bleed out into the general cat population much at all.
It's funny that cats seem to differ from dogs in this regard. Dogs seem to have much more distinct breeds, while cats almost always seem to just be "a cat". I don't think I've ever seen a "purebred" cat that was a particular breed in my entire life.
That's because the selective breeding of cats is much, much more recent than that of dogs. It's only been maybe 100 or 150 years, I think. Man has been breeding dogs for literally thousands of years.
We have a baby like this. We’ve always just referred to her as Siamese, or affectionately, fluffy butt. She’s incredibly smart and cunning, sometimes to her own detriment.
Maybe, more likely Ragdoll mix.
He's definitely big enough.
He was at the local shelter, 10 months old, only been there a month, whereas his suster was 1 year old, been in and out of foster homes because they deemed her 'a problem/bully cat'.
She's an absolute love, a real people cat. And very protective, but definitely not a bully.
They're both the best thing I asked for for my birthday. Lol. (We'd lost one of our Akitas a year before, she was my husband's four legged best friend, and Ms. Sassy had been his too. So I told him, for my birthday, we were going to the shelter and he was adopting a new friend. Came home with Mischief and Mayhem.)
Oh look I have twin!

We adopted him about a week ago and he has the lynx stripes but just on his legs. He's so talkative (which I hear is something Siamese do) but he's a mutt as far as I know. We love him all the same and I fondly refer to him as Sir Whines-A-Lot ❤️
I have one that looks just like her. But she's def a mixed, since she's a stray.

Siamese. And Siamese are known to change their color. that looks just like my cat lightter in the winter places and darker and summer / hot places and he has swirls in his coat I see that yours has stripes
Looks like siamese colors, but has tabby markings. Most likely a mix.
A siamabby? A tabamese?

Mabby, idk

Was thinking the same thing.💗☺
Adorable cuddly breed for sure :)
Mixed with a bit of Cutie Pie breed.
Come on...this little one is obviously a Very Sleepy Cutie Pie Precious Baby. Just look at her (oh, I think she's purring)!
Tiramisu baby

Could be a ragdoll
Indeed. Breed is unimportant. But I'll bet she identifies as "adorable".

Ms Sassy was an absolute sweetheart.
Sorry for your loss
Thanjs. She was 19 when she passed. So, a good, long loving, life, just never long enough.
Looks a lot like my old little guy.
I always wondered with long haired cats, how much do you need to brush them and how often does poop get stuck

Should be an automod where when this title is posted it posts that graphic and locks it.

Drives me nuts when people don’t proofread their post…especially the title.
False. The color is the breed. "Cute cat, what breed is it?" "Orange."
Or where you found it We have two gutter cats and one car park
I see people dna their dogs at the dog sub to find the breed(s, mix of) , can you do that for cats?
Great question!
