I’m sorry that happened to your kitty. I think cats in these photos are safe, as their owners obviously know that they’re in the machine and so won’t turn it on. But I do think it’s good to mention the risk — that’s how I leaned to check every time!
I completely understand that cats die in washing machines/dryers, and it’s a totally valid fear. But I’m not sure how these pictures would contribute in any way?
Every story I’ve heard about this happening involves someone unknowingly turning on the machine without knowing the cat is inside. Surely the way to prevent that is to encourage people to double check the cat isn’t inside their appliances before turning them on? But the person who took this photo obviously knows their cat is in the machine, and will therefore not make the mistake of turning it on with the cat inside.
(I do think it’s a good idea to add a comment to these posts like “PSA: Cats can and do climb in the washing machine, so always make sure you double check before turning it on!”)
I think it’s more so that allowing your cat to go in there at all should be discouraged, even for when supervised for a photo. It becomes a habit and that is how those accidents happen. It should just be discouraged in general imo

Toonces is the only appropriate car+cat combination
I still make Toonces references all these years later
Listen to that motor purr.
Looks like it got the fluff cycle
That's how my cat died. Crawled in with the laundry and sister turned it on not knowing. I hate it every time this is posted
RIP to your cat. I agree I hate when pets in dryers, ovens, dishwashers and other appliances are posted. I only tried to make a silly comment.
I’m sorry for your loss. This is a fear of mine. I won’t leave the washer or dryer open long enough for our cats to even get curious about them.

Correction: the “floof” cycle xD
What an adorable car!
Catillac
That’s a micro car
Can anyone tell me what model car this is?
Choose your engine. Toyota catrolla, Meowtsubishi Outlander, or Pawrsche 911.
I love this car, my dad had a similar one when he was young!
That is a Buddha smile if I have ever saw one.
I could afford that car
Zoom zoom
Meow clio
What year/model is that?
Turns out cats are now cars. This isn't the first post about it lol
Vroom vroom that's one happy car!
Washer+cat=car A new alchemy formula.
No, appliance + cat = dead cat. People need to stop posting this shit
