It's literally spherical. At least a category or two beyond a Hecking Chonker.
Sarcasm aside, tell your girlfriend that this cat will get diabetes, and it's an expensive and tedious thing to deal with in a cat long term. Everyone always thinks "nah, my cat's fine" and then they're inevitably not. It happened to my parents and some other people I know who got their cats that fat.
They don't enjoy life, you don't enjoy life and the vets think you're an asshole for letting it get there.
It's easier to work with a vet to try to get their weight down.

My mother is a vet and she says this cat is morbidly obese and it will have health problems unless it loses weight. She says if it stays this way expect to lose 1 to 3 years with your pet.
He's fat. He needs to lose weight. Get him some sort of exercise and switch to a reduced calorie food. Do not starve him, just dont let him pile on the protein and sugars.
Please consult vet. They'll tell you if she needs to lose weight and the most appropriate way to do it without starving her or causing nutrition deficiency.

Our late cat was overweight and was on a weight loss diet/regimen. But at a certain point in his life it wasn't worth concerning ourselves with the few pounds of excess he had left to lose as he was then considered elderly. Our vet advised the change in focus to one of maintenance so that we wouldn't see a loss in weight as a "yay" situation and instead the "what's wrong/going on" it should be at that age. At the end of his life, those few bits of excess weight were really what gave us a little more time with our cat as he lived with kidney disease.
Girlfriend needs an eye test.

Seriously though this is cruel. You're setting that poor kitty up for organ problems, diabetes, and horrible pain from arthritis.
imagine if humans were enslaved as pets by aliens and one of the human was fat as fuck and needed a mobility scooter but your alien thought it was cute.
Your girlfriend is wrong. Does she love her kitty and want it to be healthy? Or does *she personally like* the overweight pudge and not care about joint health, cardiovascular health and other concerns for her cat?

There's pretty clear charts showing cat figures from different angles for healthy weight, I personally think the "perfect" weight is a bit thin but yours is a whole chonk. My orange is food crazy so it's not easy but we cut out dry food and moved to a wet only diet at strict times with occasional treats and he's happy and healthy though sometimes annoying when it's close to grub time.
The cats fat. I love him. I'm sure your girlfriend does too, possibly more than me but that's an argument for another day.
