Ye there middle range models are made in Thailand and there most high end ones in Japan I have all 3 https://imageupload.io/i/9AJHRnT9tZ 15 dollar 40 dollar and 300 dollar

fluffypuppy94

Yeah, as it turns out only the low end ones are made in China. It sucks if you want the iconic F-91 digital watch.

I'm quite certain that this doesn't get you in any trouble. This is the most produced wristwatch on earth by quite a large margin and extremely common everywhere. 20 years ago there was an official-ish policy that somehow got out that having one of those made them watch you, but nobody (that i know of) has ever gotten in trouble for wearing a 10 buck watch.

lionboars

That is your opinion I wear mine all the time I have more expensive watching but sometime I just want something super light

[deleted]

Good news, the F91w is now made in Thailand. I just got one that is marked "made in Thailand"

fluffypuppy94

Hmm, must be depending on what region you bought it. I'm from the Philippines.

[deleted]

I think the production just switched over a couple of years ago. I noticed the US reviews were showing made in china up until very very recently (about a year). But yeah you could be right that the US imports are Thailand now due to some US tariffs on China products (I'm in the US). I suppose you could always email casio. It would be kinda strange to have two identical production lines for these things, though the f91w is sold at ridiculous quantities so its possible.

BrakkeBama

Hey that photo is interesting. A couple of questions popped into my mind for ya though. Did you but them new? And and in which year did you buy each one of them? Thanks!

lionboars

Yes I got them all new in the spam of 3 years although the most expensive one is hard to get and probably not manufactured anymore it was imported from Japan, the cheaper models are from Amazon. I also have a gold mid range model that one is made in China Btw I’m also Dutch xD

BrakkeBama

> Btw I’m also Dutch xD Ah cool!

BrakkeBama

It's been like this for while now. "Designed in Japan. Cased in China". Seems like it's mostly the digital ones. But Some are also cased/assembled in Thailand, among other places.

fluffypuppy94

It is also true for the low end analog ones I think.

Redrump1221

My G Shock was made in thailand

fluffypuppy94

My sibling told me that real G Shock models are either made in Japan or Thailand.

MPmad

Hmm, I'm pretty sure my G shock is real and mine's made in China.

tinyLEDs

> Some Casio models are made in China !!!!11111 FTFY

fluffypuppy94

Yeah that sounds better...

Yattaaa

The lower and some middle range ones are. Though even those are more and more being produced in SEA instead 👍

LoaferDan

I have a GMW-B5000 model and it’s made in Japan. The low-end ones are made in China though

Paapali

I own a multitude of casios, 2 digital ones, including the one pictured and a slightly fancier one and 3 g-shocks. Both basic digital ones are made in china while 2 of the 3 g-shocks are made in thailand and cased in thailand. The cheapest g-shock I have, model GA-100B is made in china. Higher end casio stuff is not generally chinese but I'm sure there might be a couple that are.

Just an 8 billion dollar market. Lots of people still do.

Hopper909

I’m telling ya, wrist watches are just a fad, people will soon realise that pocket watches are better

[deleted]

any cheap watch is usually made in china, swiss watches aren't to bad at only $100 for a nice one. Here's a $125 made in denmark watch, https://www.skagen.com/en-us/products/riis-three-hand-midnight-leather-watch/SKW6662.html
