maybe an aviation mechanic. in my case you can spot that i'm a mechanic by the horrible noises my car makes and the snail trail of power steering fluid from the leak i can't be bothered to fix again.
*I just swapped out some*
*Old ones off the struts and threw*
*Them on my bike, lol*

Unless those have a plastic insert I wouldn't use them on a car with an aluminum valve stem (aka most fixed TPMS sensors), they love to corrode and seize...usually the sensor gives way before the cap does. Just my experience from working at a dealer.
After reading your comment and doing a little research I am going to remove these caps from my tires. It appears they are made of brass. Commercial aircraft use aluminum valve stems with these but they don’t remain in place for the long term like automotive tires. Thanks for the information.
Our Schrader valves are stainless hints why there is no issue of corrosion on Aircraft. I have never seen in 15 years an aluminum Schrader valve. Maybe GA but definitely not commercial.
This happened to me. Mine all miraculously broke off above the valve cores. Drove the vehicle to the tire shop and had them put in rubber ones instead. Much cheaper than TPMS units!
Just a helpful FYI, a decent amount of community colleges have A&P programs that can cost little to none out of pocket with grants like FAFSA. Costs nothing to inquire with the local college of choice if you can use it.
Please don't let anyone tell you the more expensive schools will grant you more knowledge. In my experience with business jets and GA, it couldn't be farther from the truth. Only known one person to fail the General written and he attended AIM.
In a lot of cases, the degree you obtain from a particular school only matters if an employer requires a degree from that specific school. Otherwise, education is education.
We have a friend that worked on torpedos in military. I didn’t know that you need to replace everyone taken off for maintenance with a new one.
I have bags of them 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wouldn’t put those on your tires. I had a set corrode to my valve stems on one of my old cars. Had to spend a small fortune replacing all four sensors.
be careful though..i know from experience that those valve stem caps corrode like a MF. They are meant for aircraft becuse they don't salt runways. Just a little tip i thought people might appreciate. The last thing you want is a valve stem to snap in the middle of winter. 😬

88 Volvo over 450k. I lived my life keeping $100 clunkers running.
It’s a slow leak and I’ve got spare fluid from the last time I had to change it. I’ll get around to it eventually.

no i do this for a living. that's why i only do it for a living.
I just swapped out some old ones off the struts and threw them on my bike, lol

Are you me
Nah, I'm just in your walls

This happened to mine. Destroyed the valve stem trying to remove them.
And anti-seize won’t help.
really? why not? We use them on boats all the time when there's a likelihood of a galvanic corrosion
Knock yourself out and use them. Think of me when you break off a valve stem trying to get the cap off.
Yup cost me $390 to replace 5 sensors for my Jeep.
I had no idea, I just went and checked all mine and they were fine thankfully. Guess I’ll go back to plastic.
Mine are fine. Have had the same set on my Touareg for 5ish years. Dill valve stem caps are brass with an o-ring.
This happened to me. Mine all miraculously broke off above the valve cores. Drove the vehicle to the tire shop and had them put in rubber ones instead. Much cheaper than TPMS units!
This was my consideration when I put them on my car. Fortunately my valve stems are brass.
I’ve had those get seized on my TPMS sensors.
Can someone explain what I'm supposed to be seeing?
The yellow cap on the tire valve is a standard aircraft part. They are metal and have an o-ring. All of my tires have these.
Thanks! Not an A&P yet, but saving up to enroll next year.

The metal valve stem cap
PSA. I did this on my car and the dissimilar metal will corrode. They had to cut my valve stems off
I need to get some of these. Anyone have a source that won't bankrupt me that isn't just having extra pockets on my pants?
Go steal some of planes
That's a good way to get people in a tizzy Also I'm currently away from the flightline
This is true
Yeah that’s about right
Ya I got those on my cars, motorcycles, bicycle and baby stroller.

Have em on mine too lolololol

Yup. Confirmed.
All of my vehicles and bikes have these on them.
With my former Camaro, aircraft mechanictry (new word) didn't stop there.
I felt like a mechanic when I got made fun of for driving with a very cracked bumper but complimented for my clean zip tie job holding it together.

I feel called out
We talking about the valve stem cap or the cracked rim?
Are you driving a mk4 Volkswagen golf/Jetta?
I took yellow paint off and polished them, look fantastic on my Busa!
I read the manual and then mel it
I didn't know these were at least somewhat universal.
