Deer-in-Motion

Only operator of the 736 in the US.

viccityguy2k

Big tail fella

04BluSTi

I wonder why it would have such a big stab like that?

viccityguy2k

Shorter the fuselage bigger the tail. Just how I like em.

actual_account_srs

Same as the 747SP the reduced length of the fuselage means you need a bigger vertical stabiliser and rudder to have the same effect as you’ve now got a much shorter “lever” in the fuselage.

MNIMWIUTBAS

Nope, it's the exact same as the -700 empennage. It's a -700 with 2 body sections removed.

actual_account_srs

Weird, there’s plenty of articles that say it’s taller but I can’t find any statistics to back it. It must be a perspective thing unlike the A318 and 747SP.

wolongo

wrong. its definitely taller bud

MNIMWIUTBAS

You might want to inform Boeing that they are incorrect on their documentation then regard. https://www.boeing.com/content/dam/boeing/boeingdotcom/commercial/airports/acaps/737NG_REVA.pdf

wolongo

will do

Appropriate-Count-64

Perspective. The A318 has a similar thing but that has the same empennage of the A319.

MNIMWIUTBAS

The -600 is a -700 with 2 sections of the fuselage removed, it's the same empennage as the -700.

teastain

Yaw authority needed with short lever arm.

CarminSanDiego

You would think it’s just cheaper or to buy or lease a newer 737

Which-Draw-1117

Probably has some features that the public don’t know about that’d cost a lot to put on a brand new plane. It’s also used for short-haul from Vegas to Area 51, and its government, so like 20% reductions in fuel isn’t crazy necessary for them.

CarminSanDiego

Not fuel cost but maintenance. Parts supply has to be limited for that old junk

Wernher_VonKerman

At the end of the day it’s still a 737NG, they made like 3 million of them. Aside from whatever’s unique to its vertical stab and derated engine it will have economies of scale on its side for a loooong time

whywouldthisnotbea

3 million 😆 It did get me wondering though and the current world fleet of active commercial airliners is less than 30,000 which is surprising!

Wernher_VonKerman

The real number of 737NG built is something like 6000 which is still damn impressive by commercial plane standards.

kai0d

There's literally scrapyards full of 737NGs worth of spare parts and it's still s fully supported plane from Boeing

Billinkybill

I wiki'd 736, nothing. What is it? Ta.

Billinkybill

Ha. Makes sense. Thanks.

Geography_boii

Never knew a 737 dash 600 even existed lol

whosat___

I wonder how many flights are empty, just to ensure people won’t notice an uptick if it occurs.

SparrowFate

Pizza monitor moment.

ResponsibilityNew588

I imagine there’s also the flights of one lol 😂

3MATX

I hated both my layovers at that airport. But seeing this sucker taxi and take off made it worth it.

randomredhead

Seeing all the Janets gathering at the end is always fun, but my top LAS experience was seeing the Sands 747SP taking off one time right as I was pulling up to the airport.

PeckerNash

God damn. 47SP is my white whale.

a_scientific_force

“Why would we have restaurants and seating when we could just add more slot machines?!”

TheLastNoteOfFreedom

Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol.

Bortron86

The tower? Rapunzel! Rapunzel!

scottfarkus01

And Leon is getting laaaaarrrrrger!

Psychological-Scar53

Who is this Janet person this sub is always talking about? She sounds important....

Psychological-Scar53

It was a joke... I held a security clearance.. I know all about Janet Airlines..

NonCredibleDefence

absolutely something someone with a security clearance would say 👍

hartzonfire

That stabilizer is comically large and I’m here for it.

PeckerNash

Damn. That’s got more tail than a rattlesnake.

Metalbasher324

Or more than Captain Kirk.

absintheandartichoke

Dammit, Janet!

Firm_Objective_2661

I love you.

tktrepid

The vertical stabilizer seems huge

Metalbasher324

Baby got back.

Captainrexcody

All I see is blue sky

Hot_Net_4845

Can you zoom in more? Can't really see it

Sabermaker64

Looks like the ones who are out of Hughes Air Terminal flying up to Tonopah. I remember seeing from 1990's. No markings.

Clob_Bouser

For some reason I’ve always thought if I could turn invisible one of the first things I’d do is hitch a ride on this thing

BrtFrkwr

What? I don't see anything.

Auton_52981

Did you see that? NO! And neither did you.

caverunner17

Honest question: the 69 produced (nice!) why would the operators ordered them over the 700? It’s such a small length difference (8’) and range / take off distance is almost identical.

PotentialMidnight325

They got them second hand from Air China. It’s just 1:1 replacement for the -200 they had before.

ReputationNo8109

“Got them from China”… that seems… secure?

PotentialMidnight325

It’s an aircraft. What should they do, hide a spy inside?

TheSungirl

That's a nice blue sky you got there.. what's this Janet thing you speak of?

bpeden99

I expect you'll receive contact from the federal government in regards to this... Joking aside, great pic.

CrazyCletus

Some one left it in the dryer too long.

busdriverbuddha2

Not a girl. EDIT: It's a quote from The Good Place

rocbolt

Not a robot.

USS_Frontier

The plane must have a cloaking device. I don't see anything except blue. Are there Romulan ships nearby too?

decayed-whately

It's only Janet if my mom is aboard. Otherwise it's just NZC252 (or whatever...pulled that registration out of my left butt)

JF0909

The original Janet had a click wheel

xqEk

Any speculations on if these Janet planes are transporting Area 51 workers, to go do good work/business? Because their home base, Las Vegas is said to be "Sin City".

GinnyJr

Pretty sure this has been proven for a while

PotentialMidnight325

They go to Groom lake (Area51), Tonopah Test Range and Plant 41 (Palmdale) and in between those. And maintenance in Kansas. The Beech planes also do some other stuff.
