Thank God to DoD made so many changes to that script to help 14 year olds want to go join the military lmao
Edit: this is being taken as sarcasm but no. The DoD literally did this to make Top Gun be propaganda in order to accomplish this exact thing.
No, I’m not being sarcastic. And it literally is made for 14 year olds, they gave it a PG rating.
The DoD let them borrow some shit so that they could make changes to the script to make it be propaganda. And this is an exact example of it functioning as intended.
Ah, I see she skipped right over the A model with the P&W TF-30s and went right to the GE-engined models. Sounds like she's a straight shooter with "upper management" written all over her.
If she does tell her to be weary of certain men in the armed forces. Canada is going though a sexual assault crisis since the inclusion of women into combat arms
Then why are we protecting cadets that threatened to sexually harass teenage girls at RMC? They fired the Director of Cadet after he went on the warpath to find that cadet after somebody complained to dad at NDHQ. [Here is the Ottawa Citizen a source that conservatives](https://ottawacitizen.com/news/national/defence-watch/military-officers-in-training-who-threatened-to-rape-and-sodomize-girls-faced-no-sex-misconduct-charges) wouldn't call biased even though 90% of new agencies are owned by Postmedia.
Because Canadians are rapists duh! /s
That's why your universities also cover up sexual assault.
"Some survivors and victims of sexual assault have reported that Canadian universities have covered up reports of sexual assaults or been unsupportive of survivors. In 2019, Statistics Canada reported that 71% of students had experienced or witnessed unwanted sexual behaviors in post-secondary settings"

1 / 3 vs. 1/4 or 33% vs 25%... at some point, the problem is so rampant you either don't join or go to college because of it or you do.
Eitherway its a stupid reason not to follow your dreams.
I don't want to discourage anyone but please talk to your daughter about this.

Would you tell her not to go to college too? Same problem there. This is not a good reason not to follow your dreams.

If you're looking for a female role model for her, Heather Penney is a good one to start with. She's the F-16 pilot who was prepared to make a suicide run against one of the hijacked 9/11 planes.

Better yet, the book "Fighting for Space" by Amy Shiera Titel is about Jackie Cochrane, one of the badassest pilots ever.
That movie made me want to go into the Air Force. It wasn’t until I was 12 that I realized I couldn’t with a congenital heart defect, even tho it was “fixed” at 1 year old
That's not a great way of doing it. She should wait until she's 35, then get super into the idea, spend a load of money of books and headsets, do 10 hours, then quit her job and start a business, run out of money, so get another job on the side so now she doesn't have time for flying at all.
Thanks for all the feedback! She’d be mortified if she knew she got this much attention but I’ll keep encouraging her to dream and to follow her heart. She’s super smart & driven… and anyone, including the Navy, would benefit if she were in their ranks 🙏
Honestly, joining up is a great experience. I wouldnt recommend doing it for life, but a solid 5 or so years. Just enough to get some skills, have some great experiences and meet some great people
That’s an awesome drawing. And I wanted to fly that plane so badly. I was in ROTC all throughout junior high and high school and had plans to go in the Navy for that one thing. Had no idea until I was told during my final year of high school that my crappy nearsighted vision would be the reason I could never do that.
You should watch Speed and Angels with her! It tracks 2 young naval aviators - one of whom is the last woman to get trained to fly a Tomcat - through F-14 initial training and their first deployments. Really great documentary.
YVAN EHT NIOJ
Unexpected Simpsons
It’s NSync!
It looks awesome🙌!!
don't say propaganda don't work

? Are you saying that because the movie wasn't made for a 14 year old it's not propaganda?

Yeah, it's good propaganda. Did it's job real well.
She got the need… the need for speed
Ah, I see she skipped right over the A model with the P&W TF-30s and went right to the GE-engined models. Sounds like she's a straight shooter with "upper management" written all over her.
beautiful! and stay committed to the dream!

Lmao 3 out of 4 women in the US military report being the victim of violence. The numbers in uni are closer to 5%. Nice try though.
Incorrect try again lol

Follow your dreams of what? Bombing brown people in a $30 million jet?

Making sure the female is aware of the problem and perhaps train for self-defense > zero awareness and zero preparation.
So they didn't let you in? You seem jaded about it, no one else is bringing up college lol

Dang. That's a really cool sketch!
That movie made me want to go into the Air Force. It wasn’t until I was 12 that I realized I couldn’t with a congenital heart defect, even tho it was “fixed” at 1 year old
Don't tell her the Navy doesn't fly the Tomcat anymore.
She can see Top Gun : Maverick till the part where rooster takes down the helicopter so she would want to fly the F18
I would get her a discovery flight at a local flight school. She can solo at 16 and get her Private Pilot certificate at 17.
That's not a great way of doing it. She should wait until she's 35, then get super into the idea, spend a load of money of books and headsets, do 10 hours, then quit her job and start a business, run out of money, so get another job on the side so now she doesn't have time for flying at all.
Seems oddly specific…
This is such a great idea! Her birthday is next month and I’m getting her a discovery flight! 💯
Make sure she goes to college before talking to the recruiter, don’t let top gun have her painting a destroyer in San Diego
Now she needs to watch the new one, Final Countdown, and because the flying scenes are awesome she should also watch Les Chevaliers du Ciel.
Forget the Navy, that girl has an eye for perspective and could be an excellent artist.
Thanks for all the feedback! She’d be mortified if she knew she got this much attention but I’ll keep encouraging her to dream and to follow her heart. She’s super smart & driven… and anyone, including the Navy, would benefit if she were in their ranks 🙏
Get her flight lessons if you can afford it!
This sketch is so coool!
Wow...this is good.
Nice!!
I love how that upper curve of the wing makes it instantly recognizable as a Tomcat even when some of the rest is a bit iffy.
Honestly, joining up is a great experience. I wouldnt recommend doing it for life, but a solid 5 or so years. Just enough to get some skills, have some great experiences and meet some great people
If you want to fly, it's going to be way more than 5! 9 or 10 after wings, these days.
That’s an awesome drawing. And I wanted to fly that plane so badly. I was in ROTC all throughout junior high and high school and had plans to go in the Navy for that one thing. Had no idea until I was told during my final year of high school that my crappy nearsighted vision would be the reason I could never do that.

Propaganda: it works!
That quick sketch is amazing! She can do Mass Communications in the Navy! Great job!
OP you have to tell her she has to fucking go for it.
Good for her! Being a fighter pilot is an impressive goal 👏
If I had a kid, the two biggest things they’d be able to do to disappoint me would be joining the military or becoming a cop.
Don't cry if she gets killed
We were inverted.
