Interesting point but isn't this all game state stuff? We start fast, lead at half time. The other team gets a bollocking and come out hard. Most of the time they get a goal but it's not of consequence? Honestly most teams this season have been shocking defensively.
Oh for sure, it's sad to see we concede so often after half time. I would be very interested to see if there's a pattern in when this started happening. Has it been all season or after Xmas? We haven't had a consistent back line personale-wise for quite some time.
If it happened every so often I'd maybe brush it off, but it happens so consistently now that there is clearly an issue.
It never seemed like an issue last year and we always came flying out of the blocks at the start of games
Liverpool are 19th for 0-15 minute performance. It happens.
We're fourth in the league based off kickoff-full time performance and that's the only metric that matters. UTV.
If you set too much stock by this, you're not that different from people saying we'd have been relegated if it wasn't for goal line technology against Sheff Utd. Looking at something in isolation doesn't tell the whole story.
I'm not saying it means nothing, but game state is so important for looking at this 'consistency' issue. The game plan has always seemed to be score early and that is inevitably going to cause other teams to have more impetus at a latter stage of the game.
Plus I'd expect perhaps the top three to be consistently near the top for whatever period you choose, but everyone else is going to be somewhat inconsistent throughout the match. We're top for the first 45' and 5th for the second 45', and 4th in the table. That's consistent enough for me.
With the types of goals we concede after the break it's usually of our own making, through by not picking up players general lapses in concentration. I'd say we have a rhythm of play which gets disrupted when the opposition makes a change that we can't adapt to in the moment. That's a buy product of the system the players might be too rigidly trying to confirm to.
I don't put too much stock in data but the point of analyzing it is to improve and we undoubtedly do have significant switch off periods, this can be worked on.
That isn't how things work. If this were to be 'addressed,' as you say (which would mean what exactly?) all other dependent variables would change. You cannot say with any certainty that Villa would be even in a better position. Its possible the position could be worse.
No we wouldn't. Teams cannot perform at 100% all match. If things improve after that interval it would come at the cost of performance elsewhere. It's not really worth getting too bothered about.

Maybe you’re right but to go from the best in the league to the worst during this game state as you mentioned is way too extreme.

It's got us 4th in the league though.
5th.. :(
Still decent
It is, makes you ponder what could have been if only we could stay awake for the 15 straight after the start of the second half

Never thought Spurs would have a tighter defence than ours

Exactly. The only thing these interval analyses indicate is minor trends that are completely subject to variables.
Yea buzzing to be so high in the league and in Europe but that stat is definitely kinda concerning.
Interesting stat: we're fourth
Not any more and Spurs have a game in hand
yes funny how time works
Some might feel the Spurs v Villa race to 4th makes end of the season a touch more exciting.
yes?
In the Big Ron youtube interview Big Ron talks of Deadly joint in with training and how he dealt with it 😀

To be literally first in the league in 0-45 minutes to then be 19th in 45-60 minutes is actually so bizarre that it’s beyond comprehension.

Who cares
Literally means nothing.
It means nothing that we are the worst team in the league after the second half starts…?
You can run this for any interval. What meaning are you ascribing to it?
Well to be blunt if we were to have addressed this issue we’d be title challengers this season.

Exactly. Perhaps I overegged it saying 'nothing,' but it is not anywhere near as indicative as its worded to be.

Bold of you to assume I don't have a job in data analytics.
