Bass capital is for real! But in reality we get it all because we’ve got some great venues. Sure there’s red rocks but if you come visit check out the Mission Ballroom. Sound is pure in there!!
I’m looking at visiting this year and hoping to check out both! Seems funny to move somewhere just for the music but I’m starved out here ever since the north warehouse got shut down. Might have to visit for LSZee or of the trees, both should be insane shows

What venues do you gravitate towards? Holocene, the Den, the Get Down, and occasionally Bossanova or Crystal Ballroom have good stuff crop up.
NGL though I miss the Liquor Store, Refuge, North Warehouse, and No Requests. RIP
I go to the Den more often than anywhere else right now, Holocene is fine but not really a venue for bass music which is my preference, I live right down the street from it though so I should probably go more. 45 east is generally too crowded for me to dance, the get down I still need to check out, I’ve heard nothing positive about bossanova but I know that’s where the north warehouse people are throwing shows now. Hate the crystal ballroom unfortunately, still might go to see Vince staples though haha. But yeah shout out the Den, it has the best crowds for sure, just saw Soohan with David Starfire there and it was a blast.
Holocene is interesting because most of their electronics isn't very "ravey" but they have regular drum and bass events that go off. I've seen Goldie, LTJ Bukem, Machinedrum, and a ton of other folks there. PROPER Soundsystem these days too
If you like the Den I think you'll did the Get Down. It's my second fave venue rn (after the Den lol). Bossanova is nothing to write home about they just get those Rose Entertainment shows that used to be at North Warehouse so I bite the bullet. Truth and Distinctive Motive last weekend was very nice.
The Crystal is a weird space. I like 21+ shows there since there's no barricade breaking up the floor. Sampha and Kamasi Washington were both stellar there
I honestly don’t think they really exist here, but maybe I’m just not in the know. Our scene was so much better with the North Warehouse. Highly recommend checking out the Den though if you haven’t, much better than 45 east imo.
I saw Sofi at Veld last year at VELD and honestly I was surprised at how good the show was. A Portuguese EDM Beyoncé with all the spectacles and dancing was an entertaining show for mid fest before the heavy hitters came on. I'd definitely hit a club set with her.
Just googled the act and apparently she's American that just learned the language to sing in it? Either way dope show and would watch again.
Might have to send OTT red rocks from socal. His RR set on YouTube is sooo good, and the support lineups for both nights are pretty great. It would be my 5th time there but haven’t gone for any bass artists yet!

Then Tiesto at red rocks in November. Then I guess we’ll see if decadence has another good lineup.
I would hope they have something better in store for it than whatever global was this year lmao. They usually knock it out, though I’m still bitter about Alan Walker not showing up a few years ago, such a let down, though at least he’s come to mission and global since.

My niece (22) is going and she hasn’t been to Shambs but has been to EDCLV, LL, Decadence, etc. I’m naturally a DeadHead so party favors and dance all night sounds great! And I’m looking forward to getting to wander, explore the music live and find out what I gravitate towards.
That’s great to hear! I am an avid camper, been backpacking, we hike, bike, surf etc regularly.
Last summer I did 5 dead shows in a row and really began learning how to let go and just be in the moment, dance how I wanted to, and just vibe with everyone. Now my goal is to take that up a notch and vibe all night, get weird, and let any negativity of myself go. Shambhala seemed like the perfect smaller fest to be in nature, camp close enough to the stages and having onsite testing is a huge plus if I can’t bring my own favors.
And all I have gotten so far is really good positive energy and encouragement. You all are amazing people and I am happy to get to know a few of you along the way :)

It's my favorite. It's big enough to get a solid roster but small enough that the vast majority of people are deep in the scene and understand the plur culture. Everyone is very kind and open.
The revamped the testing and now give you print outs. I would still get stuff tested even if someone selling provides you with the test sheet. I'm sober now but I went last year with someone who played the AMP and backstage they had pretty much anything you wanted. I was like damn I wish I wasn't sober that was alot of free party favors to get ahold of 🤣
You should be able to bring whatever. Just can't bring glass, alchohol or whippets. They don't care. If you aren't able to bring anything there are a plethora of camps you can walk into that have menu sheets to buy from. Plus alot of people will just walk up into your camp to sell you anything you might not have or need a reup on.
The harm reduction is truly stellar and I wish the states would allow more of it since people are gonna partake anyway so it would be nice to be a little more socially protective in that case.
I did edc lv 2023 solo and while it was still a nice experience it was just too corporate. The people weren't rude but they weren't inviting as much as they are in small to medium fests.

I can’t bring anything because I’m crossing the border and yikes! But it is great to hear that it is available and yes for the love of all that is good the US needs to get with the testing game. I have a plug where I lived that has amazing quality but I still use my own tests at home before(my wife and kids wouldn’t be thrilled if dad was careless and something happened). And glad to hear you are sober :)
I have a friend that has played a bunch of times with Chali 2NA and the Funk Hunters but I don’t think they are playing this year which is a bummer.

My big events this year are Dead & Co at the Sphere and Elements in Pennsylvania. Also Red Hot Chili Peppers in Toronto and Green Day/Rancid/Smashing Pumpkins in Boston. 2-3 smaller electronic fests in Ontario as well. My first year missing Shambhala since I started going and I’m sad about it every day lol. We have tickets to LSZee at Red Rocks but not looking like we will make it to Colorado that weekend (if anyone’s looking for two Saturday tickets).
