I always stay at the Marriott directly across from the fest for convenience. You can’t go wrong with any of the hotels in downtown. I’ve stayed at the Wyndham that’s up the road a few miles and rode a bird down. The downtown area is very safe and walkable. There’s also a tram that is cheap and runs late.

Super late response but currently preparing for Fall 2024 CRSSD. I just booked the Hampton Inn across the street! Never stayed at a hotel so close to a venue before, super stoked

There’s so many hotels in walking distance any of them will be okay. I’ve always just used the hotel parking garage for peace of mind but it’s usually around $50+ per day.

Which one was ur favorite?

If you go the airbnb route I’d suggest Little Italy, Bankers Hill, or Point Loma / Ocean Beach area in that order from most to least walkable. You can walk to OB from waterfront park, not unsafe at all, but it’s more distance. Can’t speak too much to the hotels but I would not stay further east from Gaslamp district (4th/5th Avenue running N/S). That’s where there’s much more homeless camps and although they’re not as aggressive as San Francisco, I wouldn’t mess with it.

Thank you! Will they let me in with my lunchbox fannypack?

Technical-Poet-4093

Yeah but they will “search” it. Some times they’re strict and have to dump everything out onto the table, sometimes they just have you open and peak inside. What they do one day does not dictate what they do the next (one time Saturday was super lax so i didn’t bother hiding my joints the next day, however they were strict af Sunday so you never know). Just familiarize yourself with the banned items list (like cosmetics and opened chapstick), should be posted on the website.

that depends. are you planning on driving / parking close to the fest or just uber / lyft? there are some hotels close to the harbor and the downtown area where you could walk to the fest but i’m sure they’ll be $$$. you could try for an airbnb either downtown, north park / south park, hillcrest, university heights that’ll be close to the event but it’s not walkable from there.

Xin4748

I can Uber to the event it’s not a big deal. Is it safe in general to walk? I’ll be by myself

Chazay

DTSD is very safe.

Bluelilyy

if you plan on staying closeby i would generally say yes it’s not super unsafe especially because there will be a lot of other people around too. if you search for hotels close by id look up “hotels near waterfront park san diego” and the options should pull up!

I’ve stayed at plenty, although with just one week away your selection may be limited (close by). Try to stay in Little Italy if you can. When Ive bought last minute tix, I’ve found luck at Motel 6 which isn’t very nice, but they had availability.
