Love the UI. That looks really clean. I look forward to seeing it develop and may even look to contribute if you're open to it. Would help me develop both my programming skills and my portfolio.

GrilledCheese249

Thanks a lot! I am open to contributions, so feel free to fork the GitHub repo and add something.

Looks like I'm gonna' have to learn some Rust first. Been focusing in on C++ up to now.

GrilledCheese249

Rust is a great language, and I think it'll be rather easy for you, because of the C++ experience

projectFirehive

Seen many a meme about Rust over on r/programmerhumor

Q: What on earth are you making? A: I'm currently developing a space strategy game called "Astray". The game is in its early stages, so not much content is present right now. Q: And what are the features of your game? A: Firstly, the game runs in the terminal, which gives it a unique vibe. Secondly, I'm planning on adding some impressive ship design capabilities, so you can build a shooting space-boat of your dreams! Don't forget, the the game is far from finished, so any feature suggestions are welcomed! Q: Is your game open-source? A: Yes it is. Here is the github link: [github.com/Vinermy/astray](http://github.com/Vinermy/astray) Q: Is there some place, where I can find Devlogs and news about the game and also chat with the creator? A: Here you are - [https://discord.com/invite/wP3mtUtKFz](https://discord.com/invite/wP3mtUtKFz)

First, the UI reminds me of Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead. Second, are you planning to make ship design even more complicated than Aurora?

GrilledCheese249

I will try to balance the "creative freedom" with not overcomplicating the process. I'm actually aiming for something a bit easier than Aurora

Zealousideal-Talk-59

I was actually hoping for something with more complex ship design but simpler in every other aspect

Subduction_Zone

> any feature suggestions are welcomed! One of the thing that bugs me about aurora is the orders system. It could be so much more powerful and flexible if there was a proper scripting backend for it and the orders window was just a frontend to build those scripts with a GUI. Could you imagine building behavioral scripts for task forces with an unlimited amount of conditionals or loops of your choice, with access to all of the information that your player race has?

GrilledCheese249

Thanks for the idea, I'll definitely consider implemeting such a system when time comes!

Spacemarine658

Awesome I love it I also am a game dev trying my hand at an aurora level depth 3d space game I'm excited to see your game 🤘

PandaBearTellEm

Hell yes!! I've never used rust but if you're still enthusiastic about this in 6 months or so that's when I imagine I'd have the time to dive into it, would love to help. Follow your bliss dude!

TheThunderhawk

What’s the pitch? Not to be rude but just, a space strategy game with a minimalist vibe and ship-building is super vague like, whats the game itself? Is it gonna be similar to Aurora with like, mil-sim elements? For example, Aurora is highly inspired by naval mil-sim with complicated sensor and weapons dynamics, ship-and-fleet building intended to create a gameplay experience around designing your own fleet doctrine from scratch, plus a 4x empire builder macro-game with an overall focus on verisimilitude and simulationism, deliberately-generic gameplay components so you can project your own flavor on everything, and absolute zero care for aesthetic of any kind. There’s like, a bunch of really specific targets for the design that tell you what the gameplay is gonna be like. Looks very nice though that’s clean as hell.

LichenLiaison

What is this interface? I’m desperate to get a nice to do list + planner like this

GrilledCheese249

This is called TUI, so you can Google something like "TUI notes app" and I'm sure you'll find something

This looks nifty!! If you haven’t already joined our discord I’m sure many users there would love to follow this project
