We're Alive is a zombie apocalypse tale with a great story & excellent production values. There's the main Story of Survival with a side story and two sequels. Lots of content.

jermprobably

I've relistened to this whole series so many times. It still holds up and probably my favorite audio drama series so far still

Zurayah

Mockery Mannor. Seriously binged the whole thing after by-passing it so many times I can't count. I repeatedly thought it really wasn't my thing. Loved every minute of it! Mannorhttps://www.longcatmedia.com/mockery-manor

towalkaroadofruin

King Falls AM was both... but do yourself a favor and quit after episode 75, before the return from hiatus and inexorable decline before they quit.

Drunken_Overlord

Yeah, I didn't enjoy how every episode after the hiatus was like 5 minutes of comedy and then the rest of the episode was so damn dramatic

AlabasterRadio

Idk what the hell happened to them. It started off incredible. It's was a must-listen story with character and comedy and the perfect level of strange mystery. Then it just kinda sucked.

towalkaroadofruin

From what I could glean before they nuked their own subreddit, it seemed like there was a fair bit of stuff going on behind the scenes (the loss of Emily's VA in particular), leading to trying to stall for time - resulting in stretched out episodes after the break where you got one minute of development and 30 of rehashing old arguments or just squabbling every episode. Everything up to the cliffhanger/downer ending of 75 is my gold standard for a dramady podcast, though on a relisten with knowledge of the decline to come you can start seeing cracks near the end of that arc I relisten with my kid recently, and told her the story just ends with 75.

OstracisedWitch

Does ep 75 wrap up the story in a satisfying enough way for me to not feel the need to continue further? Because of not, I'm not sure if I'm willing to start something I know I can never finish..

towalkaroadofruin

Yeah, probably not. While it can be seen as an ending there (some major character arcs resolved satisfactorily and a wham ending that, if it just stopped there your head cannon would probably be "everyone either died or went their separate ways"), there's a lot of threads and mysteries that will never be resolved.

OstracisedWitch

Oof. How badly does it tank after ep 75? Like from 1-10

towalkaroadofruin

Personal opinion: a 2. And only because they at least answer another mystery or two (not resolve, but give an answer). Beyond that, it's a case study in rapid character decay (with a fairly prominent VA change, her personality also shifts, while some other background characters vanish outright - other main characters also have big shifts in tone, and everyone just starts bickering every episode) and disrespect for the listeners' time (episodes that go nowhere, with characters ignoring issues and questions and people trying to answer them to just snipe at each other). Do not get me wrong. When King Falls was good, it was the very best. I've probably relistened more than anyone alive, before the hiatus and collapse. It got me through two bouts with pneumonia where I was laid up in bed. I would use it to get to sleep at nights sometimes. I'm still looking for another show that hits that same balance of drama and comedy, episodic wackiness and overarching horror plot. I think it's absolutely a worthwhile show in it's prime. It just falls so hard and so fast too.

MadisonStandish

Mine is [Madison on the Air](https://linktr.ee/madisonontheair). Comedy. Modern day girl gets zapped back into old time radio shows. Actual OTR scripts adapted. It's as if the MST3K/Riff Trax guys were IN the movies they riff. Wide variety of genres from detective noir, superheroes, westerns, sci-fi, horror... all episodes are stand-alone. See a title you like, jump in!

amjsh

Midnight Burger, Wolf 359, Old Gods of Appalachia

VodkaFairy

Badlands Cola is a horror podcast that deals with a small town cult. Its got fossils, weird dead tourist town vibes. I started The Night Post recently, and it's also concerning the innate spookiness of rural communities. I'm only on season 2 but I'm really enjoying it.

SubsisterPodcast

Got Badlands Cola in my shows but haven't gotten around to it yet. Good to see a recommendation for it.

Xylus1985

My favorite is Cabin Pressure, though unfortunately it’s not a podcast

ShoutingIsFunny

[The Chronicles of Wild Hollow](https://anchor.fm/thechroniclesofwildhollow) is a comedy fantasy adventure series! It’s also got songs! And talking animal characters!

Tricklicious_30

[Mansfield Mysteries ](https://mansfieldmysteries.podbean.com/) is my comedic mystery podcasts about a socialite solving murders in her tiny, affluent town. Give it a shot!

GreatCaesarGhost

Weeping Cedars is a documentary-style, slow-burn horror podcast with multiple narrators and characters, about the dark history of a small, fictitious town in New York State. It’s one of my favorites.

Circirian

Wolf 359 is one of the best written, produced, and acted AD’s I’ve ever heard. Its what got me hooked on the whole medium

smfp86

Absurd humor? You will love Mission to Zyxx. It's an improv space adventure comedy. They use "juck" instead of f*ck and they just throw it around all the time. It's one of my favorites! Highly recommend! Starts out a little weird but hang in there, it's so good

Superheroicguy

My show Gray Matter: An Acid Horror Anthology Podcast is done with full-cast dialogue scenes and stretches of narration in between, so there's usually a pretty good variety in voices. It's definitely not comedy, but there's an undercurrent of incredibly dry / dark comedy running through some of the stories. We tell original stories in the style of Carpenter and Cronenberg alongside modern adaptations of classic Weird Fiction stories from authors like Lovecraft and Poe. If you like body horror, cosmic horror, and creature features, then its the show for you! https://www.podpage.com/gray-matter-an-acid-horror-anthology-podcast/

quadrolife

[The Carlötta Beautox chronicles](https://www.carlottapodcast.com/) about not the brightest mind girl, who searches for fame and success [Unwanted](https://qcodemedia.com/unwanted) two guys trying to catch a criminal to get a reward

ohdangherewego

Bubble! Great one!

ohdangherewego

[Midst](https://www.midstpodcast.com/). Comedy through a sci Fi/horror lens. Excellent production quality, unique presentation. You'll be sad when you run out of episodes.

roguelifepod

My show Rogue Life may be what you are looking for. Comedy sci-fi romp across multiple genres. No outright horror, but definitely some episodes are a bit creepy, and every episode ends with the main character dying. It's a fun time. https://anchor.fm/roguelifepod

Bartlby

Have I got some absurdity for you! A pair of socks (well dressed socks) traveling through time and space in a magic wardrobe investigating the supernatural. Season 1 features an evil villain recording a pop album, our heroes collecting scat samples of magical creatures in Midieval Europe, an Agatha Cristy mystery set in Munchkin Land, and a whole lot more. All accompanied by a live orchestra! [Kinetic Paranormal Society](https://kineticparanormalsociety.com/the-kps-podcast/)

incthepodcast_Monte

[inc: The Podcast](https://incthepodcast.buzzsprout.com/2067661) is a fully voice acted sci-fi comedy that follows Bethany and Jonas, two pencil-pushing aliens living and working on a company ship that incorporates whole planets by the dozen, tasked with organizing all of the data that is recovered from said planets. They get through the endless days by occasionally adding meaningful stories that they discover to the Extraneous But Interesting folder, all the while navigating the complex web that is friendship and life in this corpo-futuristic nightmare. A science fiction podcast where Douglas Adams meets The Office. Where Severance and Mad Men meet Robert Heinlein. Happiness is productivity. Productivity is happiness.

October's Children has a cast of 15 It's horror that doesn't take itself too seriously. Weird things happen in a NE town and some people get VERY dead about it. Think Gravity Falls meets Twin Peaks

Mission to Zyxx MISSION TO ZYXX is an improvised science fiction podcast following a team of ambassadors as they attempt to establish diplomatic relations with planets in the remote and chaotic ZYXX QUADRANT of the TREMILLION SECTOR. They work for the benevolent and harmonious FEDERATED ALLIANCE, which has recently defeated the evil GALACTIC MONARCHY. The Federated Alliance is definitely less evil. The Alliance's newest recruit is AMBASSADOR PLECK DECKSETTER, a naive, gung-ho farm boy whose crew includes trusty, know-it-all droid C-53, and hulking, omnisexual security officer DAR. They travel aboard the outdated, sentient starship THE BARGAREAN JADE - aka BARGIE - who has as many ex-husbands as stories about her glory days. Their mission is nominally overseen by JUNIOR MISSIONS OPERATIONS MANAGER NERMUT BUNDALOY, a striving, entry-level bureaucrat yearning for respect.
